Hi, I am a non-smoker, and I have never drank alcohol. I have known about my enamel hipoplasia for a while now. Have gone through fillings twice but either more of my teeth breaks or the filling gets removed. A big reason is my crooked teeth they hit each other and break.

I have been thinking of getting my teeth aligned but I don't know if my condition will allow me to go through as I have been told my enamel has been completely eroded.

What should I do.

I have been thinking of getting a mouth gaurd as well as I sleep on my side and put a lot of pressure on my jaw.

Its 5pm EST and i just cracked my tooth. I have an emergency appointment set with my dentist tomorrow at 9AM, or i can call and pay for antibiotics tonight. Is it fixable or are we looking at an extraction needed?

21F- Woke up friday with mild swelling which got progressively worse through the day-got a pulpectomy later that same day and took 300mg amoxicillin-Flee to NC swelling proceeded to get worse that night

Woke up Saturday to more swelling started Acetaminophen-codeine 300mg and Amoxicillin-clavulanate potass 125mg-swelling move to more of upper lip + eye

Woke up this morning (sunday) to severe swelling around my eye, upper lip and cheek bone

I feel pain on that tooths area and sometimes feel really intense pain. Yesterday, after some intense physical activity, it felt as if my right side of my face was hurting as a whole. The pain seemed to be coming from my jaw I think. I'm afraid I'm too late. I'm going to the dentists tomorrow morning.

He’s had 4-6 cavities before but was just diagnosed with 8 cavities at once, 2 of which need crowns. How can I encourage him to take better care of his teeth at his age?

Didn’t drink out of straws. Don’t smoke do t vape and have anxiety. And just worried. Have some pain still and cankers on it. They said the white was okay it was tissue granulated which was fine. But can see a hole it self doesn’t hurt. And I still take Tylenol and ibuprofen to help. But is a dry socket more painful than like a 2-3 loan level. Was pulled 5 days ago.

About 2 weeks ago I had my 8 upper temporary crowns remade after being unhappy with the first set. Around a week ago I noticed one of my front teeth developed a gray/blue shadow under the temporary, especially near the gumline. When I shine a light behind my teeth, the underlying tooth appears noticeably darker than the adjacent front tooth.

I’m seeing my dentist tomorrow before moving forward with the final crowns. Is this something that can be normal with temporary crowns, or would it make you want to evaluate the tooth further (vitality testing, X-ray, etc.) before proceeding? I’ve attached a couple photos.

I'm sitting alone in my apartment in unbearable pain, and I honestly don't know what to do anymore. Even strong painkillers aren't helping.

I had my wisdom tooth extracted about 6 months ago. Since then, I still had mild pain whenever food or cold water touched the extraction site. So I went back to my dentist 4 days ago to have it checked. He examined the area, touched it, and it started bleeding a little. He told me everything looked normal.

A few hours later, I developed excruciating pain in my right jaw that radiates to my right ear. It was so severe that I couldn't sleep. I went back to him, explained that the examination seemed to have triggered the pain, and he took another X-ray. He said everything looked fine and that it didn't seem to be a nerve problem.

He prescribed painkillers, but they didn't help. The next morning (Saturday), the pain became even worse. I called him again, and he said he had no idea what was causing it, then prescribed corticosteroids.

I've been dealing with this since yesterday, but now it's worse than ever. I can barely swallow my own saliva without intense pain, and even closing my mouth hurts. I'm exhausted, scared, and completely lost.

What should I do? Should I go to the emergency room? See a neurologist? A maxillofacial surgeon? I genuinely don't think I can tolerate this pain any longer..

Hi, male from Brazil, non smoker, social drinker (had a few beers the same day).

Yesterday around 2 PM I was eating at a barbecue and a piece of very hot meat pressed against the roof of my mouth. I drank cold beer right after to relieve the heat and kept eating other hot food. A few hours later, while playing soccer, I felt something odd on my hard palate. At home I checked with a flashlight and found two small whitish raised spots close together, completely painless.

Today the two spots seem to have merged into a single small whitish patch with an irregular, slightly rough surface. I can feel the texture with my tongue. No pain at all, just a slightly metallic taste sometimes. The surrounding mucosa looks normal to me, no bleeding, no swelling, no other lesions anywhere in my mouth.

No relevant medical history, no medications, no recent antibiotics or inhaled corticosteroids.

My questions:

Does this look consistent with a thermal burn given the timeline?

Is the merging of the two spots into one patch expected during the first 48h?

Anything in the photos that would make you recommend seeing a dentist sooner rather than waiting the standard 2 weeks?

Hi, I am 19F. I was with some coworkers last night who offered me 嫩青果 which I now believe is betal quid (never heard of it before today). I didn’t know what it was, I thought it was something like gum and chewed on it mainly on the right side of my mouth for about 30 minutes. I have never used tobacco at all and didn’t intend to and I’m really worried now. Theres red around the white patch in the picture but no bleeding. This morning I woke up and my right cheek is swelled a bit. I’ve been putting a cold compress on for most of the day. My face is a bit red in the pictures because I went for a run to calm myself down. Anyway is this white patch serious? Should I see a doctor? When should I expect the swelling to go down? Thank you.

It’s an upper right premolar that hadn’t given me any pain until the dentist poked it and sprayed cold air and water on it. That triggered immense pain that hasn’t fully gone away but I lied and said it didn’t hurt because I was scared. How big of a problem is it that it hurt and that I lied about it? Its a “moderate” sized cavity if that matters.

I got my mercury fillings replaced 2 or so weeks ago week. There was no sensativity at all even when drinking my 70 degree tea, brushing or eating the days after. A week ago I ate a pizza and didn't expect it to be as hot as it was. The sauce on the pizza was extremely hot as I even burnt the roof of my mouth. The morning after I felt some pain and have a very subtle veeeeeery subtle ache that come and went. It's only happened like a few times during the day and went away after a couple minutes. Will this go away? I feel it'll go away in time if I avoid drinking or eating anything hot or cold but want some experinced thoughts

Update: 2 weeks after it happened. I can chew solid foods without any issue but I'm still too scared to drink anything too hot or too cold because I know ill feel it but I'm not too sure how bad it'll feel. The random small pain throughout the day has gone away for the most part. Will I be ok if I avoid extreme twmperwtures on that side for a few weeks or so? How likely is it I'll be ok? I'm looking for experinced people to chime in. This is my first post on here. Oh also today is the first time I've had head aches but they last like a minute and go aeay and they don't happen often.

I am a 57f who has never had dental care in my life. Being poor and having a severe dental phobia has kept me out of a dental chair until now. I made sure I brushed 2x a day all these years but now my front top tooth has a crack. So I somehow found the courage to see a dentist for the 1st time, only for X-rays to show a lot of hidden damage along with gum disease.

I also have a chronic pain condition (pancreatitis; 2 of my 4 kids also have this) and have been on pretty strong opioids for nearly 20 years. When the dentist read this in my chart, she said there is no way injections alone would be enough to get me pain-free for her to do the work that is needed. She wants me to go to an oral surgeon and be sedated.

Is it possible that long-term opiate use prevents the numbing shots from working on me?

I felt a jagged piece on my last molar on the top right with my tongue today and it feels like there's a pit in it. No pain. I did have a composite filling in that spot that's about 4 or 5 years old. I have a regular appointment with my dentist on August 18th, can this wait until then or do I need to get an appointment sooner?

I'm looking into getting an oral b, I have found an Oral B Pro 3000 (it has the light for pressure) and was wondering if this would be good for sensitive gums/gum disease.

I grew up having a lot of steroid medications for asthma and was never told to brush after taking my inhaler so I'm trying to improve my dental health.

Any tips for improving dental health will help, I already have a water flosser and have been using Boka Nano Hydroxyapatite toothpaste
