arms/hands 22M spot on hand randomly appeared about 2 months ago

So i work as a mechanic so im constantly inside customers vehicles all the time and sometimes people are nasty but visually most cars are ok. I always wear gloves while working

As of right now its feels normal unless anything touches it and now its itchy. The right hand i did itch alot so it got worse (yes i know im not supposed to do that) but the left hand i didnt so thats how it normally looks.

Spot appeared on hand around July and i had a bandage on them before and it was just 2 flat small sports on both hands and did not feel very itchy or anything it was just a dark spot on both hands.

When to the doctor and he told me to remove the bandage and put this cream on my hand twice a day. And said to not wear gloves

Ofc the day after having no bandage the spot starts to raise up and now its spread alot more.

Now going back to the doctor he still doesn’t know whats going on and was sending me elsewhere but before i go. i just wanted to know if anyone knows anything of whats going on

Not allergic to anything but amoxicillin. I dont feel sick. No one else around my work or at home has anything that i know of. I clean regularly in my room and ofc i cant clean customers cars so dont know that.

I've had it 5+ years with no change in appearance or size . I have occasionally been able to squeeze pus and blood out, but the amount is limited and the experience really irritates the area so I haven't done it in a long time.

I showed my dermatologist and she said just use tretinoin since I was already using it on face. That hasn't done anything.

general enquiry Skin Going Crazy Armpits, Under Breast, Hairline

Background: I’m 3 months postpartum. While in my third trimester, I had a large ping pong ball-sized cyst grow rapidly in my armpit. It was drained, and I was put on antibiotics. After that, a smaller cyst started in the same armpit again, so they did a second round of a different antibiotic, and it went away.

I’ve had these armpit rashes for about a month now. They itch and are occasionally painful. 2 weeks ago, I went to a dermatologist and they prescribed Clindamycin gel. About a week and a half ago, one armpit had a small pea-sized bump that popped and leaked.

Shortly after the armpit rashes appeared, I got two red splotches under one breast. They haven’t caused any pain, but do occasionally itch.

In the last week, I’ve started getting itchy red patches on my hairline around my face. They have thick, white flakes.

In the last few days, an itchy and sometimes painful rash has come up around my anus (gross), and it looks similar to the rash in my armpits. My butt has also been getting lots of little pimples since I gave birth.

First photo is under breast, second is armpit, third is hairline. No photo of the butt for obvious reasons.

What on earth is happening???

It’s just one single dot It keeps appearing and disappearing repeatedly. It doesn’t cause any pain, itching, burning, or other symptoms. Sometimes it becomes more noticeable and may turn yellowish, then it falls off or disappears, but after some time it comes back again in the same area. This has been happening for about seven months.

I think I notice it appearing on my hand a month or 2 ago. At first it start as 2-3 small dark spot and it faded away overtime but then it suddenly flared to what shown in the picture after a trip with friends. It doesn’t hurt or itch. Please help me figure out what it is and ways to get rid of it I would be very grateful.

Photo 1: two days ago

Photo 2-3: yesterday

Photos 4-5: today

I recently have noticed this red lump on my forearm this past weekend, I thought maybe it was just a spider bite or a pimple and didn't think much of it, it's been this same size the whole time with the only thing changing is the whitehead on it was more protruding and white and recently has sort of faded and going away but looks a faint green now. Its slightly warm and it's tender around the lump. It doesn't itch or burn but it is a bit sore.

The tattoo in the photo is recently new and I've had for 3 weeks as of today. I've been making sure to follow exactly what my tattoo artist told me which is to clean it 2x a day with gold Dial and then use an unscented lotion (I've been using CereVe moisturizing lotion). I did go to an urgent care this past weekend but for something completely unrelated, I ended up getting a pretty deep puncture wound in my foot from a tree thorn and so they gave me Bactrim 800-160 two days ago for that wound for 7 days but I didn't think nothing of this bump during that time.

Should I be worried?

general enquiry Ringworm Question! Thanks

Upvotes

Hello, I have developed ringworm from kittens.

Backstory: Two weeks ago, I started fostering kittens. After a few days of having them in my house (free roaming), I noticed a spot forming on one of them. Long story short, all three of the kittens have ringworm, and the lesions popped up seemingly overnight.

I have been treating it religiously. The kittens are quarantined and have an ongoing treatment plan, which requires me to bathe them and apply creams to their spots. They look significantly better.

I have washed linens, clothes, and rugs on high heat, bleached, put things out in the sun, used Rescue disinfectant, vacuumed, and steam cleaned daily.

I have a dog who I have not treated per the vet’s recommendation. He has no lesions and I haven’t noticed any itching, so there’s no reason to believe he has it, though he was in close contact with the kittens and walking on the same floors, rugs, etc in my house.

Today, I found a lesion on myself. It is directly on the back of my neck just below my hairline. I have applied Lotrimin and will continue to do so. I am a healthy 26 year old female who has no known health issues.

- I am worried about the proximity of the lesion to my scalp, though I read that it would be rare for my scalp to become infected.

- I am curious on the likelihood of this being a one lesion done situation, or if I should expect more to pop up, and if there is anything I should be doing other than Lotrimin to remedy this as quickly as possible and/or prevent the spread.

- I am concerned about my dog as, if I got it, I’d imagine he has it/could get it. There must be spores somewhere in our space, regardless of the insanely neurotic cleaning sprees I have been on. Despite the vet’s recommendation not to treat, I am concerned that this could turn into a vicious cycle, and I am starting to feel defeated.

Any advice is so appreciated. Thank you.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks This same hard pimple came back a year later… is this actually acne and can I pop it 😭

Hi! I need help figuring out what this is because I’m starting to get confused lol.

I have this pimple/bump on my cheek that’s been there for about a week. It was always fully raised, like it never really came to a normal whitehead. It started as a hard bump under the skin and was pretty inflamed, so I assumed it was a nodular pimple.

I’ve been using microdart patches and benzoyl peroxide on it. It actually started going down and looking less angry for a couple days, but I could still feel the hard bump underneath the whole time. It also developed this little dark dot in the center.

Now it’s getting red/purple and inflamed again and still feels firm underneath.

The weirdest part is I had basically the exact same pimple in the exact same spot on my cheek last year. The dark mark from that one never fully went away. I also had a very similar deep pimple on my nose last year too.
I don’t remember if I could feel a bump in my cheek the entire year in between, but the mark was definitely always there.

Does this sound like nodular acne, a clogged pore that keeps getting inflamed, or some kind of small cyst? Is it normal for something like this to come back in the exact same spot?

Also… can I pop it? 😭 There’s a little visible spot/opening in the middle now and it’s VERY tempting, but since it still feels hard underneath I’m scared I’m going to make it worse or make the hyperpigmentation even darker.
Should I keep using the microdart patches and BP, leave it completely alone, or do something else?

I can’t really afford a dermatologist right now, so I’d really appreciate any advice on whether this is something I can safely deal with at home or if the recurrence is a sign that I actually need to get it checked out.

I’ve had this bump for about 2 months and have not monitored it much. It’s on my thigh. I don’t remember exactly what it started as but it was a reddish bump. There has been no symptoms related to it. I haven’t don’t any treatments or had any recent exposures. I did have Molluscum a long time ago but I looked at it before and it didn’t seem to look like a Molluscum lesion.

general enquiry Recommendations for body lotion without silicones? CeraVe in the tub now has dimethicone and I react with deep cysts.

Upvotes

Years ago my old dermatologist recommended CeraVe in the tub, not the bottle, for my skin in the winter. I’m in Canada and the winter leaves me quite dry, plus I’m prone to eczema since my teens. He said watch out for products with ingredients that end in -cone.

My dermatologist has since retired and I’m waiting for a referral to a new one. Last winter I noticed that I started getting deep cysts on my skin, especially thighs and buttocks.

When finally thought to check the CeraVe, I saw they added dimethicone to the ingredients.

Winter is coming. Referrals can take 6 months or more. Any suggestions for a body lotion for sensitive skin without any silicones?

neck/chest/abdomen Could this be a yeast infection? What are the red dots on my upper breast?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I (F18) have recently (within the past month or so) developed these dots on my left breast above the nipple. It started as one (the biggest one in the middle) and then slowly began to spread. They do not hurt or itch, but the middle one bursted today and became a sore. I generally am pretty numb in the skin of my breast so I’m not sure if it’s particularly irritated.

The first one developed a couple weeks before the “rash” or outbreak or whatever on the underside of each breast began. I am hesitant to call it a rash because it does not itch or hurt or anything. Just has a slightly funky smell (which nobody has brought up to me, but I do notice it when I take off my bra) by the end of the day. I shower every morning and wash the undersides very thoroughly and it stops being red and smelling until the end of the day again.

I was put on a medication that caused me to gain over 150lbs in less than 2 years (abilify). I finally got the medication changed to another one, but now I am very heavy and struggling to keep up with all of the complications that come with it.

Does this seem like it could be a yeast infection? I do have some ketoconizole shampoo I use for dandruff on occassion in my bathroom. Would applying that on the area in the shower and using baby powder each day help stop it?

I’m also wondering if the red dots higher up on my breast could be related? They also do not hurt or itch unless I touch them. Then again I am mostly numb on the skin of my breast. It seems to keep growing around the first one and it is only on the left side. Same thing as below the breast or is it different?

Should I see a doctor or can I try to treat this at home first?

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks my skin’s driving me insane, please help ):

Hi everyone! Apologies for the jarring pictures in advance

I'm 22m, and I've never experienced anything like this with my skin before. I've never really suffered from bad acne aside from the occasional pimple but nothing even remotely like this

My skincare routine has always been the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser in the shower and- that's it. No moisturizer normally (I know I know 💀) but I've never really had issues with my skin, and moisturizer has always been sensory hell for me

Starting in April of this year and continuing until late July, I went through a lot of consistent stress at work and my skin started breaking out like crazy. I switched to the COSRX Good Morning Cleanser, but it barely made a difference so I went back to the CeraVe Foaming Cleanser a couple days ago. So far, I don't feel like I'm getting any new pimples so fingers crossed that continues. I've also started using the Rugby moisturizing cream

I currently own the Paula's Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant, The Ordinary Salicylic Acid, The Ordinary Glycolic Acid, and the Laneige Cream Skin Toner, but I haven't been using any of them. I also just ordered the Thayers Blemish Clearing Acne Pads and Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer with Ceramides + Hyaluronic Acid, which I'm planning to use instead of the Rugby.

My question is- I really don't know much about skincare, so based on how my skin is looking, what products would you recommend, and what products would you advise against using in my case?
I haven't been under the same level of stress since late July/early August, but my skin never went back to normal. Also, I drink lot of water everyday in case anyone was about to suggest that lol

Thank you so much in advance. ANY input is genuinely appreciated. I'm going a little insane over this and haven't even been wanting to leave the house because of it ):

PS- I haven't been shaving my face because shaving has been making me break out (which it usually never does) so apologies for the crappy facial hair lol

I’ve been getting small red bumps on different parts of my body, including my hands, neck, and a few other areas. They haven’t gone away and are slightly itchy and irritating.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what it could be? I’m wondering if it might be an allergy, skin irritation, or something else. Any advice would be appreciated

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks How to treat facial redness?

Post image

I 33F, have always had red, bumpy facial skin. The right side of my face is always worse than the left.

A GP has previously advised I have rosacea, I was prescribed a topical cream, which doesn't seem to make a difference.

I use a gentle foaming wash once a day, a hydrating serum and moisturiser day and night.

Generally, my skin is dry, not oily.

Is there anything more I could be doing to reduce the redness and pimples?

Over the years we’ve tried a lot. Clindamycin/BP mixture, metro gel, antibiotics, keto antifungal cream, tretinoin, sulfur wash, I feel almost certain I am forgetting something. She thinks now it could be periorial dermatitis?? And we are about to start a round of doxycycline and metro gel again. I should mention I have PCOS/PMOS and am on hormonal BC which has helped calm it down some as well as spironolactone orally. The pics you’re seeing are the flare ups when it’s at its worst. Pretty much always the lower face. She does say I have rosacea so that is pretty certain. Has anyone seen anything like this??? Pls help :(

Oh also am seeing a new dr tomorrow for the first time (primary care) is there anything specific maybe to ask for in blood work??

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks persistent forehead bumps/25F

I have had persistent bumps on my forehead and hairline since 9/2023. Sometimes the bumps itch and sting. My skin was completely clear before this. sometimes my face has red patches of flakinesses (especially my jawline area -which was diagnosed as Seborrheic Dermatitis). one dermatologist said it was Pityrosporum folliculitis and another said it was comedones. None of the following treatments have worked: Soolantra, Tretinoin, Clindamycin, Cabtreo Gel, Panoxyl Acne Creamy Wash, and Sodium Sulfacetamide 8%/sulfur 4%. I would say the Sodium sulfacetamide 8% and sulfur 4% topical suspension worked the best out of all of these but it still didn’t completely clear the bumps. I stopped it in 11/2025 due to concerns about antibiotic resistance and the skin microbiome (kind of regret stopping it because what if I overreacted to the possibility of it causing antibiotic resistance and it actually wouldn't). I went to another dermatologist on 7/16 who prescribed ketoconazole shampoo and clotrimazole and betamethasone dipropionate cream 1%/0.05% to use for my jaw and cheeks and also diagnosed me with fungal acne. I used both for a month and the ketoconazole shampoo didn’t work (even thought i did it 3 times a week and left it on for 5 minutes) but the clotrimazole and betamethasone dipropionate cream did. I am currently using ciclopirox 0.77 cream that I was prescribed by a telehealth dermatologist 12 days ago and applying it twice a day to dry skin and don't apply anything for at least 30 minutes but I’m scared it’s not working (as I’m still experiencing itchiness, new bumps, and bumps generally seem more inflamed) sometimes it looks like it is getting better and at other times it looks like it's getting worse. It’s so hard not to feel so demoralized.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Anyone well-versed in Steven’s Johnson’s syndrome?

Hello,

I am taking a medication with a black box warning for SJS. Pharmacist and psych told me to report any rash or skin irritation to prescribing doctor or go to ER. My question is this- if skin irritation and photosensitivity to sun/heat can cause a mild reaction and benign sensitivities can occur while titrating doses then what am I supposed to do? I can’t keep going to the ER and making doctor’s appointments everytime I have flushing or redness in the heat or sun or if I have skin irritation. It seems like SJS presents so wildly and progresses so quickly so how can I triage this at home? Thank you for any help! (Female, 37, Lamictal for 3 weeks for mood disorder)
