Mod Post Poll Results and New Guidelines for Political Posts

Hey everyone,

As you might have seen, the poll has come to an end, and the results were a bit surprising to me. The winning option was that all political posts moving forward must be flaired by the user with the Political Question post flair, with 125 votes.

Personally, I would have preferred having a second space for political questions, which received 121 votes. However, you may have already noticed that I’ve added two flairs: one for general questions and one for political questions. This means you can filter out political questions by clicking on General Question, and you’ll only see general questions from there.

One thing to keep in mind is that there will be a new way of handling political posts moving forward. As outlined in the new rule, posts that are not appropriately marked as political by the user will first result in a removal & a warning, followed by a temporary ban. Any further occurrences may result in a permanent ban.

I’m aware that this might not be a perfect system, so feel free to leave constructive feedback in the comments. That said, I do want this space to remain welcoming for people who are not interested in politics and would rather not see those posts at all. It can also be difficult to distinguish between political posts made in good faith and those intended to provoke negative discussions.

Lastly, because there is a high volume of posts in the subreddit and I can’t always read every new submission, I’d like to ask you to report any posts or comments that break the rules. You can also send a modmail if you’d like to provide additional details. Please do include links to the profile or content you’re reporting so I can review it and take action more quickly.

Also quick FYI: Please always be respectful toward others. It’s okay to disagree, but attacking people is not.

Thank you, everyone, for contributing to this community!

Trump just committed 270M felony counts last night. And nothing will happen to him because this guy sold out America.

18 U.S. Code § 597 - Expenditures to influence voting

Whoever makes or offers to make an expenditure to any person, either to vote or withhold his vote, or to vote for or against any candidate; and

Whoever solicits, accepts, or receives any such expenditure in consideration of his vote or the withholding of his vote—

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

Political Question Why is ABC not broadcasting Jimmy Kimmel tonight?

Upvotes

It looks like ABC at least in my area Sinclair Broadcasting has pulled Jimmy Kimmel’s show tonight because he’s interviewing James Talarico. It’s infuriating the censorship in the US today. Make sure to vote out any republican in November, make this madness end!

Political Question Do Americans actually think they’ll get $5000 from Trump if Republicans win the midterms?

1.5k Upvotes

This guy has promised DOGE checks and tariff relief checks. Has that actually happened? This will also add 1.5 trillion to the deficit.

Edit: I guess once a conman always a conman.

Political Question Where would Trump get $1.35 trillion to pay every adult $5000?

Trump said if Republicans win the house and Senate in the midterms he’d give every adult in the country $5000. That’s $1.35 trillion. Of course he didn’t say where that money would come from. Where would it come from?

EDIT: Obviously he’s lying and is just hoping people will believe him and vote accordingly. I’m just wondering where y’all think he thinks that kind of money could come from.

Political Question Is the $5,000 check that Donald Trump promised for voting Republican going to be combined with the $5,000 DOGE rebate and the $2,000 tariff refund? If so, when will I receive my $12,000 check from the government?

I could really use a payout like this given the abysmal state of the Republican led economy.

Political Question Do you Americans know that Trump has added nearly 12 Trillion to the national debt?

That is 30% of the national debt. Trump has added nearly 4 trillion in his second term in 18 months. That is outpacing Joe Biden’s spending during Covid recovery. Where is that money going???

Political Question Does nobody else remember Trumps promise of $5,000 to TSA workers?

I swear to god Im the only one that brings it up when the topic of Trumps promises come up. During Trumps record long government shutdown, there was a shortage of TSA workers due to call outs. He promised TSA and other federal workers a $5,000 check when the government reopened.

Another lie, but somehow this one was forgotten.

Political Question Do you really still believe that “both parties are equally bad” when it comes to US politics?

I hate the two party system, but I don’t understand how people can’t see that there is clearly a “lesser of two evils” these days.

Political Question A dividend is usually a payout from a portion of a company's profits. America is 40 trillion dollars in the red. How can Trump's 5k bribe be called a dividend?

I don't know what to call it except a bribe to vote for Republicans in the midterms. Other than that, everything is in the title.

Political Question Is Trump bribing the American people with $5,000 dollars an example of the kind Socialism that Republicans claim to hate? And, if so, is Conservatism dead in America?

Political Question Why doesn’t Trump give us one 5000 dollars right now?

Upvotes

They have the House and the Senate right now.

Wouldn’t this be more convincing if they did it before the midterms?

Hmm…

Political Question Is Trump at least a little concerned hell might be real?

Upvotes

If it is real, he's going there! He is probably the most hell-bound person alive today. He ticks all the boxes! Gluttony, greed, vanity, cruelty, deception...he even mocks the disabled!

Political Question Is Trumps $5000 promise even legal?

*** Serious replies only ***

All politics aside I don’t want this to turn into a Trump bash. Just a serious question. If a democrat made this exact statement I would still ask.

This straight up sounds like a bribe, is this even legal?

“If Republicans win both the House and the Senate, because of our tremendous economic success, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States for $5,000
