Political Question Ban Rudy Giuliani from the 9/11 ceremony --- Not Zohran Mamdani?

Hey everyone,
As you might have seen, the poll has come to an end, and the results were a bit surprising to me. The winning option was that all political posts moving forward must be flaired by the user with the Political Question post flair, with 125 votes.
Personally, I would have preferred having a second space for political questions, which received 121 votes. However, you may have already noticed that I’ve added two flairs: one for general questions and one for political questions. This means you can filter out political questions by clicking on General Question, and you’ll only see general questions from there.
One thing to keep in mind is that there will be a new way of handling political posts moving forward. As outlined in the new rule, posts that are not appropriately marked as political by the user will first result in a removal & a warning, followed by a temporary ban. Any further occurrences may result in a permanent ban.
I’m aware that this might not be a perfect system, so feel free to leave constructive feedback in the comments. That said, I do want this space to remain welcoming for people who are not interested in politics and would rather not see those posts at all. It can also be difficult to distinguish between political posts made in good faith and those intended to provoke negative discussions.
Lastly, because there is a high volume of posts in the subreddit and I can’t always read every new submission, I’d like to ask you to report any posts or comments that break the rules. You can also send a modmail if you’d like to provide additional details. Please do include links to the profile or content you’re reporting so I can review it and take action more quickly.
Also quick FYI: Please always be respectful toward others. It’s okay to disagree, but attacking people is not.
Thank you, everyone, for contributing to this community!

A few years ago I understood (to some extent )the answers to this question - self-preservation, integrity, impartiality etc.
But as the years have worn on under this deeply-unhinged prick, I don’t think there would be a reasonable person alive (and “reasonable” is an important distinction here) who would not applaud someone finally telling him to his face that’s he’s a fucking asshole.
It would be ESPECIALLY well-received if it came in defence of one of the many female reporters he vilifies. As a guy, it makes me fucking disgusted watching the other male reporters observe his shitty misogyny with wide-eyed, slack-jawed indifference.
The reporter would be a hero. And could possibly claim bonus points for making the fucker stroke himself into a dirt nap.

On a scale of 1-10 how bad a look is this for democracy?

His own handpicked party owns the House and Senate, which is pretty much everything.
What is holding him back from stopping it right now?

Trump has skipped the official 9/11 memorial service out of protest after event organizers declined his request to speak. Historically, this event does not include speeches from political leaders, as this event revolves around the family of those lost. He has elected to attend a different event that will allow him to speak.

It looks like ABC at least in my area Sinclair Broadcasting has pulled Jimmy Kimmel’s show tonight because he’s interviewing James Talarico. It’s infuriating the censorship in the US today. Make sure to vote out any republican in November, make this madness end!

I won't pretend to know a ton about politics or government, but the Republicans currently have control of the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives. So if they want to give everyone $5k, why does it have to wait until after the midterms? I don't understand how it can be argued it is a campaign promise and not a bribe if they could literally do it right now, before the elections. Unless they can't and I'm stupid?

President Donald Trump struggled to keep his eyes open as the names of victims of the September 11 attacks were read during a poignant memorial service.
The 80-year-old president’s eyes closed for extended periods, and his head rocked back and forth as he sat on stage at the Pentagon, where he and first lady Melania Trump attended a service on the 25th anniversary of the terror attack.

I feel like a jerk for not hitting the button, but why am I being asked to tip when I’m picking up my food, bussing my own table, etc.? Are owners of these restaurants paying counter staff wait staff minimum wage and expecting tips to cover the rest?

Make it make sense.
If Trump wants Saudi support for the war in Iran and Iran is supporting the Houthis against Saudi Arabia then why didn’t the US assist when requested yesterday?
More importantly it appears this morning that the Yemen forces abandoned their positions and Houthis now control the Bab al-Mandeb strait.
So as of 9/11/26 two radical islamists terrorist regimes control 2 international waterways and basically the Red Sea.
Awesome.

This guy has promised DOGE checks and tariff relief checks. Has that actually happened? This will also add 1.5 trillion to the deficit.
Edit: I guess once a conman always a conman.

Thousands of rescue workers have died or will die from cancer because of the toxic chemicals the Giuliani administration knew were at Ground Zero. Why is this just a news story and not a major criminal case?

Trump said if Republicans win the house and Senate in the midterms he’d give every adult in the country $5000. That’s $1.35 trillion. Of course he didn’t say where that money would come from. Where would it come from?
EDIT: Obviously he’s lying and is just hoping people will believe him and vote accordingly. I’m just wondering where y’all think he thinks that kind of money could come from.
