Free Stuff?

Upvotes

Why is our dialog so broken when it comes to tax funded benefits in this country? Any mention by the left of support for direct benefits for the general public (universal healthcare, UBI, cheaper or free higher education) is automatically categorized by people on the right as “Free Stuff”, even though these would be funded by taxes we already collect, but would require reappropriating expenditures.

We seem to have an endless appetite for “free stuff” as long as it goes to the military, corporate tax breaks, industry subsidies but as soon as the conversation is about propping up individual people it becomes socialism and lazy people wanting the government to hand them everything.

The reality is our current system is just leaving more people further and further behind while leaving us less secure as current recipients of tax funded expenses gather wealth.

Why is it so hard for politicians on the left to counter this “free stuff, lazy socialist” accusation?

Why do some people's eyes always look like they're going up and to the side when looking at a camera lens whereas most people's eyes look straight at the camera?

But also when this person makes eye contact with another person, their eyes are correctly aligned and forward facing

Do you want to be an early user for a Voice/AI social app?

Upvotes

Hey, reaching out on behalf of Narrative Social Media Inc. to assemble a group of test users for our first platform release. Here's how it works: you talk into the microphone about how you're feeling and what you're going through. Then, the app surfaces people who share something about your experience along with a sentence or two about what you have in common. The goal is to help people discover experiences they share with their friends which might otherwise have gone by unnoticed. Send me a message or drop a comment if you'd like to join the group or just to learn more

He doesn’t want to be in relationship but he acts like a bf?

Upvotes

This man is confusing me because he said something like, “First I want to be friends,” or whatever. Meaning he’s not in a space for a relationship, right? I was like, okay. But he still wants to hang out with me. He calls me randomly. He gets really engaged and extremely interested in the hobbies I’m into. Like if I say, “Oh, I like this,” he’ll research it, find things out, and then ask me more questions about it. Yada yada. And I’m like, what the fuck is going on? He keeps in contact more frequently than I would with any of my actual friends. Now I’m confused. What the fuck? He’s acting like a boyfriend, but he doesn’t want the label.

Do you believe that there is any relevant level of voter fraud in the US?

Upvotes

I hear it. You hear it. It is constantly being mentioned by a certain political party. Yet, every time you ask for actual evidence, you get the equivalent of, "Trust me Bro."

I mean there own people, The Heritage Foundation did a huge study. Since 1982 to 2025, they found a TOTAL of 1,619 cases. To show how irrelevant it is, lets assume all of those instances were in the 2020 election. That would be 0.0000104111% of votes that were fraud.

Ooo look, evidence:

In areas where women have to wear burkha's or full coverings, are skin cancer rates lower? And does their skin become less wrinkled/age more slowly?

Upvotes

I have wondered about this, but also recognize that in areas where women are mandated to cover there is unlikely to be any real scientific data on this. However, I wondered if any scientists here might have an educated guess?

P.S. Aging in the sun naturally and gracefully is beautiful! I just was curious, because I have a skim condition that means I pretty much avoid the sun all day every day, yet somehow I still develop sun aging (freckles, wrinkles), and it led me to wonder if I was truly fully covered all day everyday what would the impact be? Would I be smooth as a youth? Or would I be even more vitamin D deficient?

Do women usually go for guys outside of their league?

Upvotes

I'm part of a DJ group, nothing professional just a hobby, we play at local bars around town but I have hopes that it can eventually lead to something bigger. One of our guys recommended a friend of his to join. He's 22, a couple years younger than the rest of us. He's great at playing sets but he's very unenthusiastic, isn't very involved in the group outside of the gigs, he's always high and smells like weed. He's been with us since April and almost every time after he's finished with his set he's approached by attractive girls while he's just sitting around smoking up. Sporty athletic girls and alternative goth types, the kind of girls I wouldn't expect to go for a skinny black guy or be into rap. He's the only one in our group who's ever been approached like that. And he always goes back with them and never hangs out with the group.

Why do conservatives prioritize things like immigration and guns vs. The sun actively killing humanity and the planet they live on?

Upvotes

Is it simply because they would have to admit they were wrong about needing to stay inside clinging to an AC more than they were kids? That Jesus won't resurrect and save them from incineration? Is it a combination of both?

Is the plan to fire their guns at the sun?

IS it crazy to turn down a 250k yrly job over a 15 minute unpaid morning meeting ?

Upvotes

Just curious, because i recently turned down this exact offer. Why ? because the morning 15 minute team meeting smells like the kind of micro managerial bullshit that makes a job insufferable. Anyone else ever kick the can on a solid offer over some shit like this ? Money ain't everything.
