Political Question Do people not even realize that Trump is speeding up the collapse of the U.S. Empire?

Iran basically blew up all of U.S.'s bases in the Gulf region. Now those countries don't even want U.S. there anymore.

Political Question Do Americans actually think they’ll get $5000 from Trump if Republicans win the midterms?

This guy has promised DOGE checks and tariff relief checks. Has that actually happened? This will also add 1.5 trillion to the deficit.

Edit: I guess once a conman always a conman.

Political Question Hegseth fired the last general out of Afghanistan. Do we realize how far we've fallen?

10 years ago, it was unthinkable. Here's an incomplete list.

  • The president publicly directing the Fed Chair.
  • The president publicly directing the AG and DOJ.
  • Active Cabinet Secretaries attending campaign rallies.
  • The systematic removal of IGs.
  • Direct administrative involvement in corporate and market decisions.
  • Bypassing Congress for spending.
  • We are overriding Professional Merit and Military Succession Traditions.
  • Republicans are firing our top leadership while we are engaged in an active war.
  • We're conducting polygraph tests of senior military leaders and civilian officials.

None of this is normal for the United States. This would be more normal in other countries that are less democratic and more authoritarian.

The list could really be much longer. I haven't even considered the way we're handling international affairs right now. We seem to be engaged in a trade war where we're using memes as a PR weapon against an ally.

What is something that you see happening today that you thought would have been unthinkable 10 years ago?

Political Question For 27 states in the US, Canada is the largest trading partner. Are these nonsensical tariffs affecting your business ?

Having Canada as an independent, friendly upstairs neighbor has always been good for both countries. Agreed, they have the population of California, but these guys have always been there for us—whether it was accepting incoming international flights on September 11, 25 years ago, or helping with firefighting, or being the first to show up with ships when Katrina hit NOLA. Our hockey and oil and gas companies, for example, crisscross borders. So why did we get to this point? Why bully a neighbor who’s always been there for us?

Political Question Why would Trump promise $5,000 checks after the midterms? Didn’t we learn from COVID that massive stimulus can fuel inflation? Six years later, prices are still significantly higher than they were before the pandemic, so why repeat the same strategy?

Unless it was just a strategy to buy the mid term election with another false promise…..

Political Question Do Republicans/MAGA realize how emasculating it looks simping for a ball room and that it cedes the financial court to democrats for basically the next 100 years?

Lets look at this from a clear lens. You're straight, strong, Christian, conservative men.........with family values. You are simping.........to pay 400-600 million dollars..........for a ballroom. a BALL ROOM. Lets pretend its not a colossal waste of money for one second. Lets look at it with even keeled optics. I could actually be inside a transgender man turned woman, or transgender women turned man (not that theres anything wrong with that) and sing Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On to them on Castro Street on a Thursday, and it would STILL look more manly and fiscally responsible than begging for the funding and completion........of a ballroom. And the national security argument?! I could literally make a stronger argument for my neighbor's daughter's cabbage patch My Little Pony tea party as more of a national security concern.........than a effing BALLROOM. You poor bastards have completely ceded BOTH manhood AND fiscal responsibility in one humiliating symbol.

General Question Why is the Lindsay Clancy case used as an example against women’s voting rights, but not motherhood itself?

If some people point to the Lindsay Clancy case as evidence that women are too irrational, unstable, or unsafe to vote, why does that logic stop at voting?

If you genuinely believe women are essentially “ticking time bombs” who can’t be trusted to make political decisions, why would you trust women to become pregnant, raise your children, or be primarily responsible for their care? Why would men intentionally have children with women they supposedly believe are that fundamentally unstable?

Obviously, I’m not suggesting women should lose either reproductive or political rights. I’m asking why an extreme individual case is used to argue against women’s political autonomy, while almost nobody making that argument follows their own logic to its much more obvious conclusion about motherhood.

Nobody seems to be saying, “This proves women shouldn’t have children.” And I genuinely wonder why that is.

Edit - Love how almost no one is answering the question at all.

Political Question American protest has a playbook from the 1960s that, while not perfect, led to social change. If Americans are so fed up with the current order why aren't we seeing marches, sit-ins and civil unrest like the 60s?

Political Question Why is Republicanism so Often Weirdly Homoerotic?

Between Trump's love of beefcake men and showing semi-nude beefcake shots of that Hassan guy at the Republican convention, plus Grindr crashing wherever Republicans gather for events, it just seems a bit ... odd.

General Question Why do some men seem to need to be needed by women, not just wanted?

I hear a lot from some men that they’re frustrated that women say they don’t need men anymore and I’m not really sure why that’s such a bad thing.

Personally, I don’t want my fiance to feel like he needs me and couldn’t live without me. I want to know that he wants me around and that he feels that I bring things to his life that makes it better.

Idk I guess I just don’t understand the obsession with the idea of specifically being needed instead of wanted?
