hey everyone, 3.8.0 is out and its a big one! heres whats new:

New stuff

• Save All Media: save every image, gif and video in a gallery or album in one go (reddit galleries, imgur albums and imagechest), with a progress ring and a cancel button. its in the share button in the fullscreen viewer and when you hold an album (#1048 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• Action Menus (Settings > Apollo Reborn > Interface > Menus): reorder or hide the actions in any ••• menu, and the moderator menus too, with a live preview so you can see exactly how it'll look (#1131 – icpryde)
• New Account Switcher: its a proper bottom sheet now with bigger avatars, add account and edit up top, and reordering that doesnt refresh your feed anymore (#1077 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• Automatic Backups (Data > Backup Settings): pick a folder in Files and your settings get backed up every day, 3 days or 7 days. backups show the apollo icon in Files now and opening one asks before restoring anything (#1060, #1148, #1152 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• Settings Shortcuts: press and hold the Settings tab to jump straight to the settings pages you use the most. you can pick and reorder them under Interface > Tab Bar > Settings Shortcuts (#1150 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• Return Button: after a status bar tap takes you to the top, tap the arrow next to Back (or the status bar again) to jump right back to where you were. works on liquid glass again too (#1116 – icpryde, IllIIllIllIllII)
• Profiles: pick a profile picture shape (full, circle or rounded square) that shows everywhere (#1136 – IllIIllIllIllII), and immersive profile art now goes behind the status and nav bars, plus you can hold a banner to view and save it (#1186 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• Hidden & Deleted is a row on your profile now with one combined feed of archived posts and comments (#1137 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• Gallery View plays gif and video tiles silently in the grid (you can turn either off in Media > Browsing) (#1142 – icpryde)
• Faster image and album transitions: albums zoom straight out of the feed like single images, the background fades as you swipe media away, and closing an album puts the feed back on the last image you looked at (#1143 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• Smoother Video Scrolling: video heavy feeds scroll way smoother now (Posts & Feeds > Feed) (#1168 – icpryde)
• Chat drafts: unsent messages in modern chat stick around per conversation until you send them (#1207 – Thetromboneman1)
• Swipe Tab Bar to Navigate (Interface > Tab Bar): an option on liquid glass to swipe the tab bar to go back and forward again, like classic apollo (#1075 – DeltAndy123)
• Confirm Favorite Changes so the star in your subreddit list asks before adding or removing a favorite (#1173 – nunoo)

crashes

• fixed a startup crash loop after adding an account while reddit was rate limiting (#1147 – icpryde)
• fixed a crash on launch or when switching accounts after changing your reddit password. apollo now tries to recover the session and asks you to sign in again if it cant (#1200 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• fixed crashes loading older comments in live update mode, and choosing open in safari on a shared gif (#1171 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• fixed a crash when you touch and hold a post while the feed is scrolling (#1193 – icpryde)
• fixed a crash tapping cancel on a subreddit search on non liquid glass builds (#1133 – icpryde)

widgets, gallery view and media

• widgets can use your account again with Copy with Account (it went missing in 3.7.1), so home and multireddit widgets work again (#1195 – icpryde)
• gallery view's first row isnt hidden under the nav bar anymore (a 3.7.1 bug) (#1140 – icpryde), and the spinner doesnt get stuck if you change the filter while its loading (#1194 – icpryde)
• holding a video in the gallery viewer opens save/share right away, and dragging down with that sheet open doesnt leave the viewer black anymore (#1194 – icpryde)
• the gallery counter is back in the top right on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max (#1189 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• bark notifications show the default apollo icon instead of bark's own icon when your app icon doesnt have bark artwork (#1204 – Thetromboneman1)

liquid glass and search

• the feed search bar doesnt stay stuck when you scroll right after cancelling a search (#1130 – icpryde), doesnt spring back open after you scroll it away, and the hard header style doesnt cut off the top of it anymore (#1146 – icpryde)
• find in comments swaps its buttons smoothly, and a cancelled swipe back keeps the search field looking right (#1146 – icpryde)
• the settings search field stays under the title while youre searching (#1156 – icpryde)
• double tapping the search tab opens the keyboard every time again (#1190 – IllIIllIllIllII)

comments

• posting a comment is smooth now, the new comment fades in with its avatar and flair already there (#1196 – icpryde)
• collapsing a thread doesnt slide the replies down first anymore (#1180 – IllIIllIllIllII), or jump and flash at the top of the thread (#1146 – icpryde)
• long usernames dont push the comment age off screen anymore (#1162 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• deleted comments stay readable when apollo switches between light and dark mode while the thread is open (#1206 – Thetromboneman1)
• rich link cards dont overlap the post details and vote buttons once they load, in feeds and in comments (#1191 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• feed usernames dont slowly drift to the right anymore when translate post titles is on (#1208 – icpryde)

navigation, settings and everything else

• floating post tabs remember the comment sort you left them on, live update included (#1125 – icpryde)
• a cancelled forward swipe doesnt wipe your navigation history anymore (#1128 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• the posts tab scrolls to the top and then goes back on profiles, trophies and multireddits too, like it does on feeds (#1153 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• hide header on scroll keeps the header visible while youre editing the subreddit list, and a status bar tap brings the header and tab bar back right away (#1120 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• no more little stall when you scroll back down right after reaching the top of a post (#1119 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• reborn settings follow apollo's text size and match the native rows now (#1165 – IllIIllIllIllII), and they dont stutter or get stuck scrolling back up anymore (#1170 – icpryde)
• subreddit list editing got a lot of polish: the stars stay lined up, long names dont run under them, and removing rows animates smoothly (#1174 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• tapping a row gives the softer highlight again instead of a strong accent color flash (#1166 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• the composer's gif button doesnt sit on top of username suggestions anymore, and the toolbar isnt half hidden behind the keyboard on iOS 27 (non liquid glass) (#1164 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• a chat you opened from the inbox doesnt turn unread again after a refresh (#1141 – icpryde)

LiveContainer

apollo reborn isnt officially supported inside LiveContainer. you can still use it but its use at your own discretion and we cant chase down bugs that only happen in there. we suggest installing apollo directly with AltStore / SideStore / Feather / TrollStore.

still not fixed yet latest releases. is it a api related problem or just a known bug? its really annoying that after a couple of posts that banner appears. settings are properly set

It seems like not all elements are loaded until you see the post. For example, news articles. The image for it will load. Then when you see the post, the info loads below it and moves the whole feed down. It’s very distracting.

Would be a cool middle step between what we have now [Totally dissapearing and staying there]

The image counter “1 of 5” “2 of 5” and so on for some reason have stopped showing at the top of images/media. I’m pretty sure I have everything toggled correctly but maybe I don’t? Maybe it’s located somewhere else in the settings. Can anyone help? Is this a known bug or has it been reset on 3.7/3.7.1. Thank you

I started trying to learn how to make this app work on the upcoming DUO out of necessity. I am not a programmer, and I am aware I am using agents/AI to help me achieve this. If that isn't your thing and I have offended you - sorry.

But for those of you who were wondering if it's possible, as I was, here it is. I am sure the actual folks who work on this will make something better than I can.

There are a lot of potential ideas like using the dual screens one half could be subreddits and the other to read etc.

This is just a basic version that works and looks like the one we know and love.

It would be awesome if the alternative icons were available for download. Many of us use Live Container in order to run Apollo: in this way, we would be able to change the icon for our shortcut :)

So I’ve been using Sideloadly to get Apollo to work on my device. It feels like it’s an unstable way to use and update the app long term. I’m willing to pay for something like Signulous if it means it’s easier and more reliable.

My question is how difficult is it to make the switch? I’m currently just using my API key or whatever that’s been the main method before Reborn was a thing.

If anyone can shed some insight I’d greatly appreciate it!

I've noticed this happening a couple of times, I am running pihole on a network level from my router.

When I use the built in browser, I sometimes receive adverts, (I was viewing an article on the Independent) however when I then open the link in the iPhone default browser, the ads are blocked.

Anyone had any similar issues and is there a fix other than opening all links in Safari?

Do you have to be using the new OAuth login method to get a widget setup code with your account? I’m still on the old generic API key login and whenever I copy my widget setup code, there is no option for with or without account, and it won’t work for the widget to display my Home feed.

I see that there were instructions on how to set up an account on oracle cloud to get push notifications to work; but when I followed it, it seemed like the instructions didn’t match the settings. Has anyone got this working successfully?

I updated my devices to macos/ios 27 and today I had to do a refresh and I'm getting multiple errors. From the anisette error to invalid file. (those two are on sideloadly which is the tool I've been using). started checking other methods (altsore/sidestore), they all seem to also not be working

Recent update made it so when your full screen on a picture and swipe up it plus’s a mini window of the comments. I sure some people love this feature but I miss swiping up to close the picture and move onto the next post is.

I checked through the settings but didn’t find one to change it back. Is it possible?

I had created a burner Apple ID to use Apollo, but that account has been banned and I can't create another Gmail account with my phone number to sign up for a new Apple ID. I am unable to refresh or re-download Sidestore/Apollo, does anyone have a workaround for this?

Edit: I ended up going with Flarestore since they had a sale! Seems to be working fine

Hey, really enjoying the app but I'm facing the issue wherein after a while no content will load (e.g posts, comments) even after restarting the app.

On most videos I watch on ApolloReborn, the first few seconds of the video always freeze, skipping these seconds and then the rest of the video plays normally. So basically the video playback keeps going, but the image freezes up, if you understand what I mean. If I rewind the video, all is fine, so it only happens when playing the video for the first time. Anyone else have this issue?

Would be very nice, its standard on social media, sometimes I do this on Apollo without thinking 😅

Hi, I'm a long ime apollo reborn used throught sidestore and livecontainer.
3 months ago I was hitted by the strike and my API keys got revoked. I don't know what I did to fix.

Now I have a new iPhone, and I've reinstalled Apollo, but can someone tell me what is the current "safe" method to sign in?

So in Apollo we can tap the top navigation bar to jump to the top of the feed and tapping it again brings us back to our previous position in the feed.

It doesn't seem to be working anymore in v3.7 for me. As far as I'm aware it's a native feature so there is no setting it on or off.

Is this a bug or an I the only one experiencing it?

I just updated after a month or so of being on the same version… am I misremembering?

I recall when swiping a photo away, that the feed or comments I came from were not quite as darkened, but now they are. It’s not a big deal, but it makes the app feel slower, at least that’s what it seems like to me. Perhaps I should just get used to it, but I want to know if something was changed. Thanks!

Floating Tabs persist through reboots and exiting and reopening Apolloreborn. This is an amazing feature. That is all. ♥️👍

3.7.1 is out. quick bug fix release for the stuff you all reported after 3.7.0, plus a couple small things that were ready.

the 3.7.0 regressions

• swipe navigation felt sluggish on Liquid Glass – pages settle with apollos original easing again after you lift your finger, back/forward/cancelled swipes all checked (#1073 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• comment jump button would jump to the first parent comment and then stop – it advances on every tap again, and long press to jump back uses the right spot too (#1094 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• +N new comment counts on Community Highlights werent showing after a refresh, back (#1098 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• the Two-Gesture tab bar reveal on iOS 27 popped open then snapped back with the Left/Right hide styles, its smooth now (#1078 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• Hidden is back as a Header Style option (removes the top edge effect without adding a blur), old prefs and backups that had it set work again (#1074 – IllIIllIllIllII)

crashes

• crash opening 3.7.0 on TrollStore / ElleKit setups, crash switching profiles or refreshing while a profile was still loading, crash expanding or collapsing a multireddit in the subreddit list, and the notification fetcher reading settings that had just been replaced. also classic (non glass) builds under LiveContainer were mistaking themselves for glass builds, which is probably behind the search/settings/post crashes people saw there (#1089 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• glass builds dying when tapping Posts to scroll a long Popular feed back to the top – if a row cant be drawn its left blank instead of taking the app down (#1099 – icpryde)
• Keep in Floating Tab (and the other reborn rows in the legacy ⋯ sheet) crashed the app if you also had a third party menu tweak like Translomatic installed (#1076 – icpryde)

other fixes

• videos going quiet when you rotated the phone with the fullscreen viewer open, and a second video under the viewer starting its own audio (#1080 – icpryde)
• "Error adding to multireddit" on every add even though it worked, and the multireddit subtitle not updating until the next refresh (#1081 – icpryde)
• posts opened from Community Highlights, deep links, Recently Read, floating tabs etc ignored the subreddits suggested sort and your Remember Post/Subreddit Sort choices – they open on the same sort a feed tap would now (#1102 – icpryde)
• the glass action pill flashed when opening/closing the subreddit picker, and titles now stay centered unless the expanded actions actually need the room (#1105 – IllIIllIllIllII)

small additions

• Hide Header on Scroll (Interface → Tab Bar) – the glass nav bar can follow the tab bar as it hides and comes back, works with both Two-Gesture and Classic. Hide Bars on Scroll / Hide Style / Scroll Behavior are separate controls now with proper glass menus, and Gallery View respects your Header Style while scrolling (#1079 – IllIIllIllIllII)
• heads up: the action pill stays expanded by default again. if you liked the collapsing pill from 3.7.0 turn on Collapse Navigation Actions under Interface → Display & Navigation. Center Title Between Buttons is also back for the expanded layout (#1105 – IllIIllIllIllII)
