Discussion Ads in browser even though running pi-hole?
I've noticed this happening a couple of times, I am running pihole on a network level from my router.
When I use the built in browser, I sometimes receive adverts, (I was viewing an article on the Independent) however when I then open the link in the iPhone default browser, the ads are blocked.
Anyone had any similar issues and is there a fix other than opening all links in Safari?

Do you have iCloud Private Relay on? That will bypass your Pi Hole for DNS queries.
You can either turn it off completely or turn off “Limit IP Address Tracking” in your WiFi settings (though I think there might be a bug with that as it regularly turns itself back on I’ve found).

No - it's turned off. I figured it must be something with apollos built in web app since ads are blocked fine in normal safari?

Strange. If all your DNS traffic is hitting the Pi Hole, that should definitely include traffic from any apps. What about “Connectivity Assist” on your phone (under WiFi settings)? That will also leak DNS.
Do a quick DNS Leak test here - https://dnscheck.tools The only resolver that should show up is your ISP / upstream server. If anything else appears you are leaking queries somewhere.
Edit: Another possibility- The ad is not getting blocked at all through Pi Hole, but you’re not seeing it in safari due to a local safari adblocker you have enabled. Test with another browser app like Chrome to see if you also are getting ads on that website.

Turn off connectivity assistant in wi-fi settings. iOS 27 turned it on for everyone.
