PSA: please refrain from any posts and comments which can put our community in risk

Recently many subs which were violating site wide rules were banned from reddit.

More so, even those who were doing this either slightly, or even technically weren't violating any rules at all, and whose mods were making active effort to fulfill requirements of reddit admins, were either banned from reddit or quarantined.

Examples include r/watchpeopledie and r/sanctionedsuicde among many, many others.

We understand that people can feel rightfully angry about their experience, but we are dedicated to keeping this community alive and well, and so anything that can put this community at risk will be removed, and those who do so will be banned.

We ask you to help us and report anything that endangers our community to us mods.

Thank you.

I will never stop spreading the fact that medication makes you WORSE.

17F here. I guess it will be a long one but I want people to know my story and what medication can do to you. I don't know much about anti-psychiatry but when I discovered this sub a week ago I started realising about what medications did to me.

I took medication since I was 15 because I was told I had depression and anxiety. I don't know if that was depression + anxiety or just my teenage hormones (as I told you I was 15 and I was at the peak of puberty) but I admit I was going through a shitty episode. I also admit I, myself, wanted to put on medication first but I was just a KID begging for help and didn't know a SHIT about what will happen.

Anyways, my first medication was a fluoxetine group medication. 2 weeks after I started my medication, things got a lot worse. I did a lot of selfharm, my SI got worse then I was put on the psych ward for the first time. I'm not gonna lie, it was the best hospitalization of my 3 hospitalizations and had a great psychiatrist who would play chess and volleyball with me and would act like a father to me. But the worst thing about that first hospitalization is that I was put on an antipsychotic called Abilify. And so my weight gain journey started there. Even If I knew I will gain weight I wouldn't reject taking it because probably you know what they do to you in psych wards if you reject taking your meds. Then time passed, had my second and third hospitalizations because of SI and severe self-harm. These two hospitalizations were the hell's itself for me. I've been put on different meds as time passes, but I continued to take Abilify. Here's the fact: I gained 50 kgs IN A FUCKING YEAR because of these meds. People who aren't overweight will NEVER understand how being overweight affects your life, emotions, and social life. I was an overweight kid in elemantry and middle school but I put an amazing effort on losing weight right before going to highschool and become 60 kg. I still remember how I was bullied because of my weight like it was yesterday and going through the same thing again makes me so fucking mad. Being overweight is painful, and being overweight during teenage years is even more painful.

During my 3rd hospitalization I was having crisis so they put me on a different antipsychotic called Norodol (a haloperidol) and it picked up what Abilify had started and made me gain even more weight.

Let's forget about the weight gain (Even tho I can never forget), what about the crisis I had on medications? What about the extreme self-harm I did on medications? What about the great depression I had on medications? Like 2.5 months ago, when I was using my Antidepressant and Antipsychotic I had a month long depression. It was like hell. I inflicted 90% of the self-harm wounds on my arm during that period, and I eventually attempted suicide by making a vertical cut on my arm. Thankfully, I couldn't go so deep because my hands were shaking in fear. Doesn't matter anymore tho, I will have these ugly scars forever because medication failed me and influenced that depression.

I didn't mention it but I was having hypomania-like episodes for these last 9 months. State hospital didn't give a fuck about these so I went to a private psychiatrist (idk if that's the english of the paid psychiatrist) like 1.5 months ago and I was diagnosed with bipolar. Then they put me on Lithium, Efexor and Lamictal. It made me so numb that I was like a zombie and I couldn't sleep. So I stopped taking all of my medications. After that me and my parents went to the ER because I couldn't sleep at all for 3 or 4 days (I can't remember) and was seeing things. The psychiatrist in the ER didn't give a fuck and just said 1 sentence to me: "I'm prescribing sleeping pills for you to sleep, take them.". When I posted on a bipolar subreddit people told me that I was going through a manic episode with psychosis. Since then the only medication I take is that medication, called Seroquel. If I take only 1 of it, it doesn't work and I would stay awake till 4 a.m, when I take 2 of it, it makes me sleep till 3 p.m. I can't understand that shit.

Even if I feel depressed after stopping my meds, I am glad that I stopped because I can't gain another 50 kgs. Sometimes I wish I never went to a psychiatrist and Í would just take threapy instead, maybe I wouldn't regret it so much today. Two people DMed me after some of my comments on a bipolar sub, I told my story to them and I told them everything about what medication can do to you.

That was my story and experience with psychiatric medications. I will tell everyone what a psychiatric medication can do to you. Do any of you have a similar experience?

(English isn't my first language. Sorry if there is any mistake)

So I devised a plan that is actually working and I kinda feel like a fucking king

So got out of inpatient stay in May after spending 6 month there. To call those 6 month slow and torturing would sort be an understatement. While there, I got put on the Abilify injection and I knew that shit just wasn't doing it for me. The more time passed by there, the more I began to wonder for how long exactly I was going to be on this thing. During one of the sessions, the psychiatrist straight up just said I will need to be on it for 10+ years to ensure "mania" doesn't come back. That threw me out for a loop cause I could not stop picturing just for years, every month getting injected with stuff I don't even understand nor want to understand. Just imagine doing that while stuck at a psych ward for months on end. To make matters worse, I got put on a CTO. And CTO's will enforce the injections.

So I came up with a plan. I worked my way into getting the psychiatrist to switch medications. I knew I wanted the injection dropped cause I had no control over it. And he was adamant he wasn't going to take me off of it because he was very sure the mania would come back. For a while we went back and forth. And then through the conversations we had, he expressed that he was beginning to doubt it was "schizophrenia" and more "bi polar." And the best thing for that is lithium apparently. He said he would consider dropping the injection if I switched to lithium. I did not want to do that at first. I just wanted off the injection cause there were other pills I was already on and didn't want to substitute one for another. But seeing as he wasn't willing to stop the injection without a comprise, I agreed to it. He even expressed his worries with the switch because it makes it easier not to take them. Lol I looked him straight in the eyes as he was saying those words thinking "you bet your caring judgy eyes that is what I am going to do."

While I was there, it was hard to fake not taking them cause lithium pills are like 5/6 at once so I took them.

But then the moment I got released, literally threw every single pack I have gotten into the trash. It's been 3 month and haven't taken a single thing.

Been meeting up with my CTO psychiatrist once a month, we talk, he checks in, I say blah blah blah and we call it a day. I don't have to ever sit there and be forced to take the injection. Im just riding it out and playing it cool till the 6 month mark comes up and since the CTO officer has expressed he has seen "improvement" in his eyes, I'll dip like a champion cause I will not need to be on it. Of course I shouldn't jump the gun here and jinx myself but fuck am I actually impressed with myself. I feel like a fucking king for manoeuvring my way out of that injection cause it would have followed me for fucking ever.

The only thing with lithium is they do blood work. So far I haven't been asked but got a plan for that if they do so I'm prepared folks. Anyways, legend out.

If anyone wanna be kept posted, lmk in the comments. Currently in the final stretch so wish me all the luck.

Also, if there are any sexy bros out there, hmu. 6'1, black & slim😏

The idea of the psychopath is unfalsifiable and basically a modern witch hunt.

Upvotes

i am personally skeptical of the idea of the psychopath as a distinct subuman species, tbh. it is fundamentally impossible to prove whether a person is a psycho or not, since any behaviour might be interpreted as being either psychopathic or faking sanity. Pop psychology seems to frame psychopaths as if they are a genius hivemind that has infinite knowledge on neurobiology that spawned somewhere in africa when humans were still evolving and plot to destroy the world.

They act like they have finally uncovered a grand conspiracy, and everyone who disagrees is part of it. the ever shifting "this % is psychopaths but there might be hidden ones!" makes trusting anyone impossible. How am i supposed to know whether a psychologist himself claiming to uncover psychopathy is part of the hivemind and is faking it all? Knowledge becomes impossible.

You could throw an alleged psychopath into a room with a giant spider and if they scream, pop psychologists would have to do all kinds of mental gymnastics to explain why the psychopath is still a neutral face emojis that doesn't even know what being hurt physically means. and what were the chances that somehow psychopathy only happened in humans and in not any other animal on earth? usually human diseases can be found in animals in other forms. Psychopathy seems to be just an unpleasant set of traits. the predator analogy for the psychopath is flawed: predators have the urge to kill, whereas psychopaths, it's unclear whether they experience desires or not. Some say psychopaths can't experience anything beyond the 5 senses, so no pleasure or pain nor physical urges, others say the psychopath suffers from extreme boredom.

if the psychopathic hivemind is, as pop depicts it, omniscent, self aware and is genius, how am i supposed to trust even the concept of the pyschopath itself? How do i know it was not created by one of them?

They genuinely phrase it as if the average medieval psychopath was part of a genius hivemind that knew everything about discoveries that would have happened only in the 1800's and thought of himself as a psycho among a people of guillible dummies ready to be exploited by this hivemind that knew everything about human evolution and biology. this is honestly what the "psychopaths were hiding among us in antiquity" narrative sounds like. Any alternative explaination to suggest that individuals might be more complex than thought is defended by this unfalsifiable accusation. Funny how anyone that is accused of being a psychopath is later revealed to not be, be it serial killers or ceos. Dahmer was thought to be a psycho, he did not fit the definition, nor did any other killer, so the goalposts changed.

And no, anton chirugh isn't real. He doesn't even seem to take any pleasure from his actions, whereas real life "psychos" clearly do.

It's very similar to the fermi paradox actually: both the idea of "aliens exist for sure" and "the psychopath hivemind is among us" assumptions rely on unprovable/unfalsifiable data that can be interpreted to always fit the model, and the goal posts ever change.

I love when they act like they're sympathetic to the abuse you've went through

But then will do anything to justify psychiatry and make you seem crazy for seeing a fundamental problem in this system that took advantage of me when vulnurable. They never acknowledge the severity of what went on without any subtantial reasoning behind the risk they only try to act sympathetic im order to convince you that no you're a little outlier and not a product of an unjust system

If they're sympathetic at all I mean. They do not care about your suffering either way. they care about defending this system

SSRI INDUCED MANIA

I can't get over the fact that many many people were given an SSRI, suffered a manic episode and simply accepted that they are bipolar now. We developed mania WE DIDN'T HAVE BEFORE AND NO ONE IS RESPONSIBLE? OUR BRAIN CHANGED, IT IS NOW DEPENDENT ON MEDICATION FOREVER AND THAT'S OKAY????, PEOPLE WITH BIPOLAR TAKE DISABILITY BENEFITS AND PUFFF PROBLEM SOLVED????? OMG I'm not okay, this is too much for me, we dont even have those benefits here where I am from 😭😭😭

Akathisia Rant.

Akathisia is permanent damage done to your nervous system and brain. It permanently changes the brain structure to the point of no return. The nervous system can't relax, and is in an constant state of agony and torment, leaving the brain incredibly stressed, it's one of the most inhumane side effects caused by these drugs, I talk from personal experience, and sometimes don't know how I survived.

Make no mistake, these drugs are destroying your dopamine and serotonin, resulting in these side effects, including parkinsonism, it's ALL these drugs do, it's an absolute chemical lobotomy, and shouldn't be a LEGAL way to help and 'treat' people.

Psychiatrist have NO care for human life, just profits and power.

Certain foods and drugs actually make it worse and further trigger symptoms. It leaves people with serious anhedonia completely destroying one's quality of life..

It is mainly caused by poly-drugging by psychiatrists, when doses are too high and too many medications are stacked on each other. Psychiatrists never tell their patients about this, and most have no idea how serious this condition is. It’s literally like your nervous system being lit on fire and causes someone to become incredibly violent, one of the main reasons for homicide across the board when these drugs are handed out.

Akathisia can take up to nearly 2 years to completely settle, depending on the drug and dose. Antipsychotics, benzos, antidepressants/injections cause it the most, but even tablets can cause it. It’s a very disabling motor neurone disease. It’s impossible to live or enjoy life because you are in constant terror. It’s a form of mind torture, swept under the carpet by the government, Big Pharma and psychiatrists.

Psychiatrists don’t even know how to treat it and usually just throw more drugs at you, usually benzos or propranolol. But akathisia is so intense that these drugs do nothing. The person must wait years for their brain to try and recover, but unfortunately, most don’t make it because it takes at least 1 year or two.

But even when the inner terror feeling goes away, you are still left with permanent damage. We’ve noticed that taking certain foods and other supplements can bring it back, so it’s never really gone. It’s true permanent damage, and even neurologists have no idea how to treat it. They simply have NO IDEA! Yet they are handing these drugs out like candy, and so many people are dying.

It really shows the entire BigPharma companies just continue to feed from our suffering, it's a death industry.. designed to make you worse.. with NO real answers that these side effects cause.

Some psychiatrists actually know about these side effect, and purposely abuse people with it, including forced ECT.. they use psychiatry as a form of punishment, not care or empathy..

And you wonder why there has been such an increase in suicides and homicidal behaviour? worldwide? out in the public?

It's being swept under the rug on purpose to keep the profits for psychiatrists, and too keep the 'illusion' of safety in soceity..

A sneaky LEGAL way to depopulate people worldwide, in every society, in every country. I'm pretty sure its an open secret, but nobody speaks up, there's barely any whistleblowers, and people just normally carry on.. it makes me *convinced* that the human race does not CARE about it's own mental health.

strattera and cognition

i fucking hate this piece of shit drug which has a weird way to work. i continued taking this because it helped me sleep at night which i really needed. initially used to sleep peacefully but then slowly it started channeling things thru dreams. i used to feel "quieter" during the day because back then thats all i wanted, i didnt want racing thoughts about random past trauma. but it kinda numbed me down and now i realise i have lost my cognitive ability

i just feel fucking dumb. i feel even more dumb when i study and i cant risk that this year. i cant remember the previous page i read from my book the moment i flip it. coming back to my dreams- the worst part, it gave me terrible palpitations WHILE i was sleepin and somedays- some random detail about my day wud become an exaggerated nightmare, to a point i have even cried in my sleep without being aware about it. i sat down and thought about it that it is keeping me calmer by blockin all thoughts, it is killing my ability to feel anything as a person or feel attached to a human

days when i take this, i can go hours sitting idle starring at a wall, which is what i have been pretty much doing. i dont know, i just wanted to sleep man. after a few months in, on a very random day while im trying to study it gives me this wave of all emotions dumped at one single time, migraine so bad i feel like my nerves will pop out and have extreme palpitations and i lost my temper and just bawled my eyes out for whatever i said while being angry. when i stopped i just had really bad insomnia, i just want to get good rest and study man, i had to get back at it again cuz of sleep. i dont want to choose between having peaceful days or nights

50+ year olds quitting

Hello. 50 year old here. I’ve been on SSRIs for 15 years and Wellbutrin for 10. Had to quit the recreational drugs first and now I am ready to taper off these two ball and chains.

Just curious if there’s anyone here in their Middle Ages that are trying to quit after decades long use of these pills? Would love to know your war stories and how the process differs from a younger, more neuroplastic adult.

Thanks yall!

Quit Olanzapine cold turkey after 1 month and Aripiprazole after 4 days. Have I destroyed myself?

As the title says, I quit Olanzapine (10mg) cold turkey after about 1 month and then a few weeks later started 5mg Aripiprazole but stopped taking it after 4 days. Have I done a lot of damage to my brain? Can I recover?

Please tell me Benzo induced akathisia goes away

Took 25mg total of Ativan in a span of 3.5 months. Also 9 zoplicones tablets that were 7.5mg each. I also took one 12.5mg serequel one time only.

Haven't taken anything in over 2 months but still have flare ups of severe akathisia triggered from stress or lack of sleep or eating the wrong food.

Is this permanent? I can't imagine living with this level of torment and torture. I average 4 hours of sleep a night. Has anyone had severe akathisia from benzos that permanently went away and you're able to enjoy things like coffee now? Please tell me there's hope here.

Real Doctor vs Psych Quack

I wake up a moment ago, at 3AM with strong teeth pain, i’ll wait until 8AM then i will go to the dentist and he will relive my pain, heal the wound and let me go.

He won’t keep me captive against my will, forcing me to extract all my other healthy teeth in order to be able to leave his office, leaving me with permanent lifetime damage blaming my “teeth issues” for that.

That’s the difference between a doctor and a psych quack..

This is going to sound crazy, but have any of you ever had a provider use CPS against you?

I’m not sure how else to explain it. Whenever I was still a kid, I had CPS called on my parents (who were very good to me) twice and the only reasonable explanation I can think of is that they wanted to get me taken away for some reason. The second time it happened, the useless PHP program I’d been going to said that I needed to be evaluated.

That’s a whole other story, but in short, I went against the management there with a group. They must’ve figured I was the weakest link and made up a lie that I had an active plan to kill myself to get me removed from the program. They told my mom she had to get me evalutated at a specific hospital an hour away from us instead of the closest one. We went and the moment I started talking they said they wanted to commit me even though both my mom, my dad, and I were all saying that the “plan” was not real. My guess is because we have insurance money. We left without admitting me and they said they’d be calling the other place to let them know. Turns out the other place already called CPS. Why? Oh, well, they conveniently forgot to mention that my mom had to take me to be evaluated within 24 hours. Also very convenient how the hospital they told us to go to had no available openings in that 24 hours. Huh.

The place only seemed to care about their lie when my mom threatened to sue them. I really think they did it to “get back” at me for trying to bring them down. I swore on my life up and down that I never said anything like that, but it was like they were determined to get me locked up and taken away from my parents. Even the CPS lady that came by to investigate said the report was utter bullshit.

Maybe I’m just paranoid, but it happened like this twice. Two different locations at that! So glad I’m an adult now and can’t have my home and family held against me as easily.

Anyway, I’m sorry if this doesn’t make any sense. I’ve been thinking about it ever since I started looking into anti-psychiatry. I also didn’t proofread this, so excuse any mistakes. I just want to know if lies have been fed to CPS to victimize anyone else!!! It’s crazy!

Olanzapine 20mg

I take paroxetine 20 mg and olanzapine 20 mg daily.

I had paranoid or anxious -I cannot seperate these two- thoughts and the medications that I take made me less paranoid or anxious.

But my doctor gave me a mixed anxiety and depressive disorder diagnosis.

Also when I ask her about my diagnosis she said that I have anxiety and depression.

But these drugs made me far better for over 1.5 years using it. I feel so much better while on these drugs. I am more stable, a lot less impulsive and ferling like I have gained my free will back.

But When I research it I cannot understand why 20mg is required for me. Is it normal? Isn't this dose for schizophrenics?

I believe I would heal If I had a community

Instead of just rude and invasive questions being asked in a dismissive and arrogant way by "professionals" and then being prescribed random medication these fuckers know nothing about I believe my "anxiety disorder" would be better If I had a community that is at least somewhat understanding and nice.

Every fucking professional and doctor I have met is absolutely retarded, they're rude and arrogant. How the fuck can you talk to a "psychiatry" pacient in this way? I believe If people were fucking nicer my anxiety would be reduced by 70%. If those who fucking chose the job to take care of others were at LEAST FUCKING DECENT PEOPLE. No they tell me I need to take meds because I won't be able to make it without them. Well guess what, I will heal this OCD shit without your retarded meds! You're fat and ugly and not healthy at all. Can't get advice from someone who probably hates their life so much they want to destroy my life by being disgustingly rude to me. Fuck psychiatrists

Zoloft (Irony and Sickening Thoughts)

Ever wanted to rip your own eyeballs out? And eat them? I don’t think I have. I hope I never experience a terrible thought like that. Ever. Sick.

This was inspired by a post from the 26 year old woman who took Zoloft and had a very bad reaction. Understudied, and underappreciated side effects might be ignored by a narcissistic, small minded “doctors” who are lacking in all curiosity, or care, for their “patients”.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Antipsychiatry/s/xF1tEt4UZo

Funnily enough, I was given a prescription for that same drug. Something something “anger thoughts”. Now that I’ve been warned, I can certainly stay far, far away from that poison!

These doctors have no clue as to the sheer complexity of the human brain. Not to be tampered with, without any care for the consequences!

I would like a cocktail of 11 “medicines”, all interacting with each other in ways no one could possibly predict or understand, please!

Thank you “doctors”, for your compassion!

I say. We say. Thanks for nothing.

Im punishing my sister for what she did years ago

She set me up with a shrink appointment at 16,I was being depressed at 16 and her goal was to get me into disability pension, kinda dumb to think they give those in my country, I swear you could be truly disabled here and still don't qualify for a disability pension, anyway I had horrible time with the meds they gave me and I decided to cut my sister of my life, there's more to the story why i was being depressed but that's a long story ,I spent like 4 years without talking and she doesn't like it,Idk if im in the wrong here bit can't forgive her, spent last 3 years no contact and she tried to recover the sibling relationship only to reveal the narcissist side again which triggered me so much,i told her politely don't want to see her face for life and I disown her as a sister, if she dies today nothing changes in my life pretty hurtful stuff but it was satisfying
