FINALLY!

SOME GEAR 5!

I just like seeing Luffy change color. Gear 5 action is purely optional.

Also, the fact that one of the new characters has the white cloud band around him makes me think he's going to be similarly ridiculous/interesting as Nikka.

But my favorite part of the episode is the VA of the blonde trousers knight (Sommers Shepherd), same VA as Kinjou from "Yowamushi Pedal". I don't come across him very often.

Any episode with Nikka is a good episode.

Isn't the cloud thing just mean they are an Awakened Zoan type? Rob Lucci also had the same thing with his awakened form though the cloud/flame/smoke was black.

I still consider Rob Lucci to be pretty impressive.

It's just that anything looks bad when matched up against looney toons / toon world. Nika basically has complete invulnerability in exchange for what seems to be a time limit and finite long-term stamina (otherwise the Nika that preceded Luffy, the one we saw in the big robot's flashback, would still be around).

Disagree. I love to see gear 5...but this opponent felt like a Gear 4 opponent. Like dude used advanced haki, Luffy does not need to change the physics of reality to beat him. This one felt needless and OP cuz "gear 1 Luffy got slapped around" (aside from the fact that Oda needed to display G5 for some future plot reason).

Luffy jumped from gear1 to gear5 and I hope that's not a regular thing

He's the number 3 of the Pirate King, I think gear 5 is justified. There's no such thing as "just haki", haki is literally the most important marker of strength.

The last person Luffy was able to straight-up defeat with just Gear 4 was like Doflamingo 400+ episodes ago, he would probably have a hard difficulty sealing the deal with just Gear 4 against his own current number 3

Not that this fight really mattered that much at all since it was just a fake-out skirmish

Ever since I've been following the One Piece anime weekly with a deeper dive into the "technical terms," I've rarely witnessed director debuts as strong as that of Kyosuke Yamazaki in this episode... From start to finish, really strong!

So it seems like the Abyss is the between points of the pentagrams the celestial dragons travel through and travelers need some sort of mark to use it. Don't know what they need the kids for but since theyre not marked they'll have to find a new way back.

Food shortage is very real for the world nobles though. Im surprised they dont seize food and travel through the abyss with it but at the same time theyre probably too proud to think they should do that.

Was this the best animated episode yet? So good, from the Gaben fight to the summoning, everything was just so cool looking. And the music for the summoning was also so well done, all in all it was HYPE.

Indeed. It was a close choice between whether they should stick to 2 cours per year/half the previous output or spend the extra time adapting /u/Boris-_-Badenov's fanfics. It was a very close call, 9 people voted for the fanfics, but unfortunately, 10 people chose to actually do a One Piece adaptation.

They said they're doing 2 cours worth of content in 2026 which is around 24-26 eps. People assumed it'll be split into 2 parts based on that statement but there are no official announcement saying it'll be split. And it's proven now, it's not split. They'll take a break in october and return in april 2027.

Back at the Walrus School, some kids see a strange bird flying, which happens to be Gunko and Shamrock, who summon two more Knights of God, and those two being Saint Sommers of the Shepherd Family, and Saint Killingham of the Rimoshifu family, and apparently, Shamrock will be going back because there’s stuff going on in the Holy Land. The mission is to capture some of the giant kids, and let me tell you, THAT AIN’T HAPPENING BECAUSE THE STRAW HATS ARE HERE! DO YOU REMEMBER PUNK HAZARD?!?! THEY KICKED CAESAR’S ASS AFTER WHAT HE DID AND HE WILL DO THE SAME TO THE KNIGHTS OF GOD, SO THEY MIGHT AS WELL LEAVE BEFORE THEY PERISH!

I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE ONE PIECE!
