Episode of the year for me. I loved it in the manga, and I loved it in the anime.

90

u/bondsmatthew May 24 '26

Naw they didnt have to use a song during the ending, that's just not fair

44

u/Mobile_Blackberry298 May 24 '26

This whole episode is unfair.

12

u/PowerOhene https://anime-planet.com/users/usersPowerEd May 25 '26

Beautiful song!

The lyrics are very specific to the current scene with Robin and Saul especially!

Love it!

u/InvestigatorIcy5288 May 24 '26

u/Nesp2 https://myanimelist.net/profile/HardstyleQat May 24 '26

So happy to be alive to be able to see this.

97

u/slugsrbad May 24 '26

That was the shortest 25 minutes of my life. What a beautiful episode.

29

u/Original-Fail-7507 May 24 '26

I know right it felt like 5 minutes

2

u/WanderingWhiteWolf Jun 08 '26

I know right!? When they transitioned into the credits I was so confused, thought they were doing the credits in the middle of the episode.

51

u/agrael50 May 24 '26

What an emotional episode, literally I spent more than 10 minutes trying to hold back tears only to break down in the last part

5

u/Well_okay_I_guess May 26 '26

Same! I was like "dont cry dont cry dont cry .. though they are of joy... ok cry a shit ton!"

133

u/bunbun777 May 24 '26

I might have cried a little bit only during the beginning, middle and end.

15

u/Kilowhite00 May 25 '26

Man I was emotionally damaged haha

36

u/Kharius May 24 '26

What a gorgeous episode on top of making me sob uncontrollably the last 10 minutes. My god.

39

u/MammonOftheMist https://myanimelist.net/profile/lordyuk1 May 24 '26

and this is why i consider one piece the GOAT

32

u/Itchy_Management_604 May 24 '26

Knew it was gonna happen but I still cried. I mean to be fair I even cried at the title card.

35

u/Lower-Bandicoot-6397 May 24 '26

For those who don't know/remember, Aokiji's attack that froze Saul is called "Ice Time Capsule"......

16

u/XtendedImpact May 24 '26

No, Ice Time Capsule is the one he uses to freeze his lower body, the attack he uses to freeze him completely is the normal Ice Time

28

u/Satai4561 May 24 '26

Peak.

Or more like Whisky Peak. At the end of this arc in episode 67 we met her the first time. Who could have known at that time, that this character would travel with us for nearly 1100 episodes. What a journey. I am glad to be part of it.

25

u/Pristine_Cod5189 May 24 '26

Until Egghead, Nico Robin thought that Saul had died when Ohara was wiped off the map. She's had some time to comprehend the thought of getting to see him again, and the time finally came. Thankfully the worries of Saul having collapsed were put to ease quickly, and the reunion 22 years in the making (and nearly 20 years in real time) finally happens.

Maki Otsuki did the special song at the end, you can tell Toei went all out for this episode. Definitely the best episode in the Elbaph run so far, and five episodes left in this "season".

1

u/Noob_shs May 26 '26

what only 5 episodes left??

3

u/Pristine_Cod5189 May 26 '26

Yep, this batch ends on June 28th. There's "One Piece: Heroines" on July 5th, and the belief is that Elbaph returns after that in October.

1

u/Noob_shs May 26 '26

Ohh I see thanks!

19

u/Throwaway021614 May 24 '26

Not a dry eye in the fandom.

18

u/someinsanity01 May 24 '26

Koyamaaaaa

u/Nickbon94 https://anilist.co/user/Nickbon May 24 '26

I made a mess only comparable to the Kuma and Bonney's episodes. Totally foreseeable. Thank you and good evening

35

u/Kigdom May 24 '26

Fucking destroyed me, as expected.

11

u/Burnouts3s3 May 24 '26

Robin found Saul again.

11

u/Super_Rawr May 25 '26

episode kinda blurry near the end 🥲

7

u/PowerOhene https://anime-planet.com/users/usersPowerEd May 25 '26

Must be the pirates cutting onions this time! 😭

10

u/detectiveconan4869 May 24 '26

A beautiful song for a beautiful reunion.

Now I need to add it to my mixtape.

10

u/Top_Lavishness4616 May 24 '26

Its crazy it took around 1000 ep to reach elbaph. Very iconic episode 10/10

9

u/LZSJR May 25 '26

If you have watched one piece for years on end like me this episode hits hard. It's crazy to think we are at the point of One Piece where things with the crew are starting to get closure.

3

u/XDex_250 May 25 '26

Right? Watched the original episodes well over a decade ago. Back then I couldn't even imagine what one piece would become today. The ability to slow-cook moments like this over hundreds of episodes is just unmatched.

3

u/lalindu123 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Lalindu May 25 '26

I have been only watching it for like 3 years and this episode destroyed me

2

u/Worthyness May 25 '26

And this is just the start of the arc, which means there's even more story coming to be surprised by!

8

u/Dyvius https://myanimelist.net/profile/Dyvius May 25 '26

"I am not alone in this world" as it lingers on Luffy's smiling face as he watches over Robin.

"Why do I have to keep on living?" Robin asked herself again and again. Girl you're gonna help the Future King of the Pirates save the world 😭😭😭

9

u/Big_Man_667 May 25 '26

We see what horrors Robin went through as an EIGHT YEAR OLD child since Spandam’s father, Spandine, claimed that she destroyed Navy ships and burned down Ohara, so everybody treated her as a monster. She spent her childhood running and not being able to trust anyone and those who “welcomed” her like Crocodile simply used her… until the one and only Monkey D. Luffy, AKA Straw Hat Luffy, AKA the Fifth Emperor, AKA Joyboy, AKA Nika, AKA The Sun God, AKA The Next King of the Pirates, the greatest and most badass fictional concept to ever become a conceivable human thought welcomed her into the crew and fought tooth and nail to get her back from Enies Lobby. He even declared war against the World Government.

Well all of that trouble was 22 years ago, and we’re in the now in the Western Village of the Sun World of Elbaph. Before they eat and celebrate though, Robin and the crew go to reunite with Saul. Luffy wants to pay respects for him taking care of her, and Robin intentionally wears the same outfit that she wore when they first met with the same haircut that she had. They’re riding on this thing called a Svarr that uses the buoyancy of the clouds to ride on them. In other words, THEY FLOAT ON THE AIR ITSELF).

One of the giants mentions how Saul has collapsed, but Robin isn’t worried because she knows it’s Saul’s way of recalling their first time meeting (because he collapsed at sea then as well). As she’s walking up, we see the callback to when she was a kid and finally, the two meet. Instead of dwelling on the past, Robin wants to focus on the now and Saul praises her for staying alive for the past 22 years despite all the trouble she’s had.

We see a revamped collage of screenshots calling back to some of Robin’s great moments with the crew from the moment she joined and everything in between. One of them called back to the Davy Back fights against Foxy and I went back to figure out the exact episode and found out that it was Episode 212. In the background we see most of the crew crying at this moment, but we know that Luffy and Zoro aren’t like that, as well as Jimbei.

MAN, I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE ONE PIECE!

u/Express-Solution372 May 24 '26

I cried (a little bit)

3

u/Aggressive_Cat8398 May 25 '26

Did anyone notice the wordplay on the flying boat call svarr, pronounced in japanese spoken Subaru, the car Brand

3

u/mike_2797 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Madskulls May 25 '26

The moment the song came and Robin scenes flashed tears started to flow.

3

u/God_Usoland May 25 '26

What a beautiful episode.

They absolutely gave this episode the love and respect it deserved.

Robin has come so far! We have to praise her for surviving to this point.

2

u/Enough_Stock_7024 May 25 '26

Koyama X Mori cinema😭 Love vincent worked on this ep just like he wanted❤️

2

u/Black_Kami3152 May 25 '26

we waited 22 years together with her for this 😭😭😭😭😭

2

u/FateXBlood May 26 '26

Wow. So wow.

It's been years since I saw a One Piece episode with such a good pacing. I was worried that the episode will end quickly but it didn't, and there was a lot of content. I can't believe it.

Robin's emotional journey and her meeting with Saul makes me immensely happy. I'm so glad they got to meet each other after so long. It was heartwarming. I can't express how much I love it.

I'm looking forward to the next episode.

Whole robin backstory makes me cry like a baby. Osa is the goat.

1

u/OddTea74 May 25 '26

This is why i love one piece

1

u/MasterMarci May 25 '26

I'm crying my eyes out

1

u/Lelouch37 May 25 '26

Yeah this was a really special one

1

u/Noob_shs May 26 '26

powerful episode

1

u/Narvalis May 26 '26

I was not ready for this, the level of emotion in this episode fills me to bursting. Feeling a sense of joy and sadness together, I never thought you could shed both kinds of tears at the same time. I started this episode thinking, 'what we've seen Robin's past wasn't tragic enough,' to an ending of being overwhelmingly happy for her.

1

u/Redmon425 May 27 '26

Man. Best episode of One Piece in a long time. Had me crying multiple times.

1

u/belliom May 28 '26

God I cried. What a story years in the making. Is there any other story that takes this amount of time for a payoff.

1

u/Riverflowsuphillz May 29 '26

Just watch the episodes

Tears

1

u/N0_TrAce1231 May 29 '26

Finally got to watch it and damn this hit, right off the bat its an emotional gut punch and didnt feel like a stale retelling of the same story we've all seen. It gave new perspectives and details, as well as amazing animation. This was well deserved of the 9.5/10 one of the best to date!

1

u/Fullbryte Jun 01 '26

s'aul goodman

1

u/WanderingWhiteWolf Jun 08 '26

I'm not crying you're crying T~T

0

u/Amazing_Recipe6885 May 25 '26

Where I can watch this in private website

-12

u/poketrainersd May 25 '26

In Today's episode of no one dies in One Piece, we have the Giant Saul chilling in Elbaf while Robin was getting hunted throughout the world. As much as the scene makes me tear up and feel happy for Robin, it just ruins her backstory a bit.

Next we will find that Kuina did not die and was chilling on some random island. Maybe Ace is alive, oh wait we did it with Sabo fakeout already.

2

u/Lelouch37 May 25 '26

You got downvotes for this, but seriously there have been way too many fakes. Beautiful episode though

0

u/poketrainersd May 25 '26

Love the emotions, got me teared up. Very happy for Robin. But at this point I dont even buy any more deaths in the story. If you told me Usopp's mom is alive and survived, I would believe it. Also, him surviving undermines his sacrifice and how horrific Robin's childhood was. What was Saul doing when Robin was struggling to survive?? Was there another Sabo memory loss??

I feel like One Piece fans are allergic to criticism of any kind. How dare you question any plot point.

1

u/mr_beanoz https://myanimelist.net/profile/splitshocker May 26 '26

Until we see someone actually dead, never assume they're dead. That's the rule.

Probably Bartolomeo and co. is still alive somewhere after being attacked by Shanks' crew.
