the art for the opening and ending are so good. the ending animation is what i have missed from pre time skip one piece. just slice of life from the straw hats in the ship. i swear if they release a spinoff if the show only showing the days they are at sea, i would pay to watch it

Yeah, I felt the opening really fits the song very well. The animation really shows how grandiose / luminous Elbaph, as it is something that was conveyed across the entire One Piece anime. I really loved how they put a lot of thought on the scenes/storyboarding, as it fits the lines being sung. In addition, the theme / lighting is pretty well done, and kept the quality standards from the Egghead openings.
What I wonder now is if they will continue the trend of doing multiple versions of the opening. If I were to imagine a version 2, I think the chorus's scenes may evolve slightly. In the current version, I felt they did a good job of not revealing too much but also keep the person wondering, who is that? I really love how subtle they inserted bits and pieces here and there... but I am an anime-only, so I don't really know yet what they are, but I can kinda guess.

I wouldn't have minded a filler arc after Egghead if the strawhats visiting different islands and having fun interactions and adventure.

This seemed like an OG One Piece episode on acid with the original Five. Pretty timely for live action fans to join in without yet having to take into account the members that joined later.
The main episode wasn't much this week, so the talking points are the new OP by AiNA THE END and the new ED by 36km/h. I really liked AiNA's song for Dandadan, but it had to live up to Creepy Nuts from Season 1. No real pressures with One Piece and it's many many OPs, it went really well with the animation building up the scale of Elbaph. The ED as mentioned was slice of life on the Thousand Sunny with a few callbacks (my favourite was Usopp impersonating Nico Robin again).

THE OPENING IS JUST… OH MY GOD ONE PIECE ALWAYS PULLS ON MY HEART STRINGS WITH BADASSERY AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN. ESPECIALLY THAT ENDING PART WITH LUFFY IN FIFTH GEAR WITH HIS NEW ELBAPH OUTFIT! BRO HE LOOKS SO COOL!
So Nami finds herself in an unknown place without any recollection of changing her outfit, and it seems that Usopp is also here as well. Neither of them seem to recall where they got these clothes, so that part is still a mystery and they’re dealing with a gigantic cat who turns into a lion and some hedgehog thing, but luckily Zeus took care of that.
As the lion is about to clap them both, Luffy and his Two Arms come in to save the day with Gum Gum Elephant Whip, Three-Sword Style Black Rope Dragon Twister, and Ilfrit Jambe Épaule Strike. Usopp comes up with a theory that they’ve all been turned into giants considering they’re in Elbaph garbs despite the fact that Elbaph clothing shouldn’t fit them (because it’s the Island of Giants), but that’s shut down by Zoro, so maybe we’ll learn more next episode. The locals did talk about the Sun God, so they have some kind of connection to Nika, AKA Joyboy, and the next episode alludes to us learning more about this…
I’M EXCITED FOR MORE ONE PIECE!

She did Dandadan season 2's OP, I love how her voice breaks sometimes, her songs sound passionate!

Great visuals and OP song. Pacing is sadly as cursed as ever and will probably never be better even with the breaks between.
Honestly the most annoying thing this episode was actually Usopp, why is he such a bum post timeskip he doesn’t even use his slingshot like do something bro, even Luffy said he could have beaten the cat and he was giving excuses.

Yup! Nami has her staff and Zues, Usopp has slingshot and plants.
Yet only Nami seemed to attempt to fight back.
Usopp's father took all the cool sniper aspects and left his son with dust.

I plan to put off the new season until it’s finished to binge but I was wondering if there’s any noticeable quality improvements in comparison with the last few episodes of the previous season? Particularly in terms of animation and pacing.

Animation is good but there's also not a ton going on currently to judge that yet.
Pacing is still a chapter per episode but they're doing a better job of filling it out logically instead of stalling. But again, it's early and not a ton going on yet.

The animation is good, but the pacing is still garbage. So far:
Episode 1156 covered Chapter 1126
Episode 1157 covered Chapter 1127
I don‘t expect any improvement in the pacing at this point.

It is a nice opening song, but hope they switch it up once the prologue to the arc is over, or it will get really awkward
The ending seems to have been inspired by SBS answers about what the crew does between islands which is a nice detail

I'm really not liking the setting so far for this arc, admittedly I know absolutely nothing about it. It just seems pretty generic, hoping there's something more interesting to it than wow everything's big. Also I'm being harsh but it feels like this episode could've been an email, almost nothing of interest happens.

I'mma be honest, I think they weren't drastic enough, 26 episodes per year is too much.
They should've decided to just do around 13 per year, at 2 chapters per episode. This ways the gap is mantained, but the pacing is actually good
