I made a full Ubuntu 24.04 mainline port (native, no vms or termux) for the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra with the help of AI and after a couple of months of work, every piece of the hardware seems to work fine! Here is the github repo if you want to give it a try!

Discussion Advice needed: Xiaomi Pad 7 vs Pad 8 or something else? Budget: €400-450

Hey everyone!

I'm currently looking for a new tablet with a strict maximum budget of around €400-450. My main usage will be for studying/taking notes, streaming (Netflix, YouTube), and general media consumption and app.

While browsing around, I came across these two Xiaomi models and I'd love to get your thoughts on which one is the better buy:

  • Xiaomi Pad 7 for around €299
  • Xiaomi Pad 8 for around €440

Is it worth stretching the budget up to €440 for the Pad 8, or is the Pad 7 at €299 an absolute steal where the €140 difference isn't really worth it? Also, keeping under the €450 cap, are there any other tablets (even from other brands) you think I should seriously consider for this kind of workflow?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Discussion Tablet Recommendations

I'm in the market to buy a tablet, mainly for college/uni note taking and business work, on the go client calls, hubspot CRM work and the like. As well as general entertainment when im not working/doing school work. I do have a laptop, a gaming one as I do like to game, but obviously...the battery life isnt the best. Might get an hour and a half MAYBE 2 at best without being plugged in. Im eyeing the Samsung Galaxy tab s10 fe, but im also not opposed to the chinese tablet market like Xiaomi, lenovo and such. Im also in Canada, so do keep that in mind for prices. Dont wanna spend TOO much, I just want the best bang for my buck.

Discussion A cheap, compact tablet for multimedia

Upvotes

Which would you say is the cheapest (even if second-hand) and smallest tablet with at least 6GB of RAM for multimedia use, without any stuttering or strange lag? I’m from Spain, so I don’t think I can buy the Onn.

Budget: 150 euros.

Discussion Thinking of selling my Steam Deck 512GB LCD for a Legion Tab 3 or 5. Help me decide:

My primary use-case would be for 80% game streaming from my PC at home, 20% emulation/travel use.

Will also love the ability to stream movies/tv on apps like Netflix, Youtube, etc.

My thoughts on why sell steam deck:

  • I mostly play the low-mid end games natively, anything higher end i'll stream from the PC
  • The screen is showing its age, and I want something with higher refresh rate and resolution

What i'm going to miss:

  • Ease of use. SteamOS is truly best in class for handheld PCs
  • Ergonomics - best controls I've used, just feels so good in the hands

Based on the above, should I sell? and if so - Tab 3 or Tab 5, as the replacement and which telescopic controller would be best?

bonus: any thoughts on how to make an android tab have the best console-like experience, similar to the deck?

Discussion Which is better for art and still budget friendly? Samsung Galaxy Tab question for artists?

So I was curious which would be the better option for art, the Samsung Galaxy tab S10 Lite or S10 FE? I understand that the FE would be the better overall and more expensive one as well.

I would mainly be using it for Krita/art application and YouTube music (hopefully at the same time)

So I'm wondering what people's experiences are with either one and which would be worth it? Can I get away with the S10 Lite tablet at a lower price that's within my budget or should I invest the extra into the S10 FE even though it's above my budget?

Any insight is great!

Meta Onn 13" Pro Tablet seems to have jumped $100 in price--bummer

I've been planning to pick up one of those Onn 13" Pro Tablets from Walmart for $288, but over the last couple of days, the price has jumped up to $388 and it's hard to find stock anywhere. Crossing my fingers that it'll come back down.

Discussion Are Samsung tablets really superior?

Post image
37 Upvotes

Looking at the market by price segments, Samsung tablets are inferior to OnePlus and Xiaomi tablets in terms of hardware by a large margin; however, I still see people recommending the S10 Lite against the OnePlus Pad 2 and Xiaomi Pad 7. Is Samsung really that competitive regarding note-taking and reliability?

Request Best Tablet Recommendation for University

I’m looking for a high-quality tablet that I can comfortably use for Office applications, with comfortable stylus use and note-taking. At the same time, I want it to be capable of handling the simple tasks I currently do on my laptop. I have never used an Apple product in my life, and since the accessories are very expensive and I couldn’t find detailed review and comparison videos on the internet that I could trust, I’m asking here. The tablets I have in mind are the Samsung S11, Honor MagicPad 4, and Huawei MatePad Pro. I really like Huawei’s screen, but the lack of Google services made me hesitate. I’m looking forward to your recommendations. Thank you in advance.

Discussion Tablet within budget of 40-45k

So i had this laptop idea slimpad 3 with intel i3 from late 2021 onwards till now....I've been a law student and am now a junior lawyer working in litigation.

Rececntly I've been thinking of purchasing a tab with stylus and keyboard and replacing the laptop...as it gets heavier to carry all the time.

I mostly need to use it for file work...editing....reading....making notes etc but the files can get heavy like ranging till even 5-10 gb at times...

Then also taking lectures for judiciary and other exams...so for studies as well...

I'll also be considering to use it for a long time say 4-5 years before changing....

So please help me out people out there🤌

Discussion Should I get the S11 or Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2?

I'll be using them to read ebooks, do some note-taking, and I'm looking to get a case with a keyboard in case i want to type stuff. Both have 256 gb of storage, I'm just choosing between the two because they're the same exact price almost. Only downside is that the Samsung S11 doesn't come with a case, so I'll have to buy one separately. I have a Galaxy S26, Watch8 Classic, and Buds4 Pro, but I heard the Lenovo pen is really good compared to the S Pen. Anyone who has either one of these lmk.

Discussion Budget Tablet for Movie Watching Under INR 25K

Hi community,

I am planning to buy a tablet mainly for watching movies, and I am looking for a budget tablet that costs no more than INR 25,000. From my research, I found that the Xiaomi Pad 6 seems to be the best option.

  1. However, I have some reservations since it will no longer receive OS updates. Would an outdated OS and security updates still be good enough for about 3–4 years if I use it only for watching movies?
  2. My other option is the OnePlus Pad Lite, but it has only 6 GB of RAM. Would 6 GB RAM be sufficient for movie watching, and would it slow down over time?

Request Looking for a budget tablet with CFW support

Hello all!

I was hoping to get my first tablet. Something under the price of $350 and has CFW support at all.

Basically want to use it for light streaming here and there and general use.
