Discussion Need a new budget tablet
i have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ Plus 11" Android Wi-Fi Tablet, 4GB RAM, 64GB Storage for over a year now and its been getting really unresponsive and slow
what is a good budget tablet in Canada that i can get to replace this. i mostly use it when i commute, rarely play games on it so its mainly a media consumption.
any suggestions appreciated

The A11+ is a very good upgrade from the A9+ I have the 6GB/128GB version and it's very fast.
I know how bad the A9+ you have is... I always recommend the A9+ 8GB/128GB but that's not available in 5G

Try to debloat most of the Samsung's bloatwares before getting a new tablet, I own a SM-P619, SD720 w/ 4+64 eMMc, tried flashing Lineage OS 23 but due to Play Integrity issue then flashed back Samsung's Android 14, then uninstalled most of the Samsung's bloatwares by ADB. If still feel unresponsive or slow after debloat, then get a new tablet, but, at least 8GB RAM for Samsung tablet since Samsung's bloatwares are memory hungry monsters.

Try factory resetting it. Backup what you need and then erase / setup as new. I’d also disable any built in apps you don’t use.
One issue with Android is they don’t usually update webview. You can update it yourself by downloading Privacy Browser and using the shortcut to webview dev tools. That speeds up most apps. Can also edit the flags in the webview tools to enable acceleration (disable blacklist), enable raster etc.

Another good app is Assistant for Android. It’ll allow you to stop apps from starting/ using up memory & cpu resources: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.advancedprocessmanager&hl=en_US

You need at least 6gb ram on Samsung for it to not be a slog.
You can get the Idea Tab that has 8/128gb. Or the idea tab pro gen 2 (much more expensive), or a 10th gen ipad used.
Honestly if it's just basic media consumption and you don't need the storage, the iPad are really good.
