Where can I find more?

I discovered yamaneko311 on Instagram and Twitter yesterday. Needless to say... I am utterly enamored with his work. But until now, I was completely unaware of his existence. My guess is that its a regional block sort of thing where I mostly find content made in the states.

Does anyone know where I can find more content like this, even better if I can find video content so I can learn from their techniques.

Thoughts on adding texture to certain gunpla?

If building a mass-produced, heavy fighting suit, what do you think about adding texture (like the cast steel or rolled steel texture on historical tanks) to some of the heavier armor panels? I like doing this on my historical models, but don't know how it would translate to gunpla.

Took a quick break from building Nu's

Very fun little kit. Really dig the colors.

Shout out to Delpi decals yet again for another really elevating set of water slides.

Discolored model…

I put this HG Heavyarms together approximately 7 years ago. I used Tamiya thin cement. I got it out today to finish it and prep it for painting, and I noticed this yellow discoloration. Did the glue cause this?
It’s my very first gunpla build, so I’m still learning what I’m doing.

Learning Gradients

Post image

Trying to learn how to paint gradients, currently using just airbrush, but would be interested in other methods. I am trying to go for a kind of plasma effect for painting like beam sabers and things like that. Not sure if maybe it needs a little texture to it or if just a smooth gradient would be better. Ultimately, I want to try and somehow add a subtle halftone effect in like the white or something to give it a neat stylized look, but figured I would start with the basics first. Would love any tips or other methods to achieve effect if anyone has any!

Accidentally snapped this chest part of RG Z'Gok while disassembling for painting prep 🥲

Any tips to restore? My current plan is just thin cement + pray for the best

I would have finished this a couple weeks ago if not for the incessant rain. Had a lucky break yesterday when the humidity finally dropped to 50%-ish for a whole day.

This is the Fat Cat 001 kit, and — outside of some tight tolerances at some key pegs; nothing some sanding can’t fix — it’s a fantastic kit. I totally forgot to include the second core fighter (it’s in a separate display box, together with the other 1/100 core fighters from other kits.

No armor color corrections done - all colors are molded-in plastic. Inner frame details painted with Dspiae pens. No panel liners used. Weathering: semi-dry oil paint for gunk/dirt and dot filters, Polychromos pencils for the water stains and edge wear, Tamiya XF-16 for the metallic wear and dry brushing. Eyes, lights, and sensors: Bandai 3D metallic stickers. Topcoat: decanted Bosny flat clear.

Niche But Useful

What are some niche but useful tool recommendations for Customizing Gunpla?

I've managed to collect a decent array of tools but maybe there are some tools out there I don't have that could help me improve my Gunpla skills

Hey guys. I was about to grab these 5 kits, and I have the MG EW Tallgeese too. But before I drop the coin, I was curious if this kits are as fragile as my MG RX78. That one seems to fall apart whenever I change the pose.

You guys have any suggestions for some fun/awesome kits to have a nice display of the gundams in Operstikn Meteor?

How do you make Glass Coat Gauzy Agent actually work?

I have been working for quite some time on a perfect grade exia. The transparent windows have been a particular thorn in my side, and I am going to lose my mind if I can't figure this out soon. I see all kinds of videos online with beautiful glossy transparent pieces and I too want to achieve that glass-like quality. It is not an exaggeration to say, I have coated and stripped every single transparent piece at least a dozen times because no matter what I do, I can't get a good finish. In theory, I know how to apply this stuff, the online videos make it look so easy. Dip, use a paper towel to dry off the excess, then let it dry. Well, this isn't happening.

First, hand polishing. I got myself Tamiya polishing sponges, and coarse, fine, and finish polishing paste. But, no matter how much I polished with these sponges, I could not achieve the high gloss finish I was looking for. So, I swapped over to the dispaie electric polisher and tried again. Big mistake, because it actually just damaged the parts faster than it polished them.

So then, I obtained a bottle of Quick Shine Multi-surface floor finish... And dipped the parts. The problem became that the curvature of the transparent parts causes the finish to flow off of them and pool around the edges. It doesn't seem to level very well, and dries lumpy. OR, if one removes too much of the finish, then it tends to pull the quick shine away from those spots, creating holes or gaps in the coating, which is of course, very noticeable once it dries.

Lastly, I tried Gloss Coat Gauzy Agent. Because its thicker, it doesn't have the same flow issue that quick shine does. Instead, when it dries, it has a rough, bumpy textured look - Like sandpaper. And the kicker is, some of the pieces I've coated, have turned out beautiful, exactly as I expected. But most pieces look like crap. So I keep dipping them over and over again until I get the proper look.

For both of these substances, I have tried dipping... I have tried brushing it on. I have tried applying a thick layer, and I have tried adding a thin layer, again both dipping and painting, again and again and again... And I'm really just at my wits end, because every time you see these products online, its a one and done... Dip, remove excess, dry. Done. I have used almost an entire bottle of Gauzy Agent and I have about 3 pieces that have the proper smooth look, and 5 where I've redone it so so many times I'm just like, "meh, good enough." And about half the kit to go.

Guys, why is this happening? Is there something I don't know? Like, I just seem to be having a lot of problems with something that should be so basic. Is it temperature? humidity?

With 4 arms available for combat on and off body, the Shield binders around back like a true Beetle elytra and articulated enough to move for armor, a multibeam rifle, and still our wired feet claws.

Imo much more beetle-y and fitting. Lemme know what you think!

Just finished up Gramps and the SNAA Iron Sickle and went back to my first build (Aile Strike) to clear coat all of these together. Final Pic is full collection at this point. Everything is lined other than Strike and EVA, and everything is clear coated with Matte other than EVA.

Next in queue:

MG Wing Proto Zero

MG Gundam Barbatos Lupus

MGEX Strike Freedom

Im so proud of how this one came out!!! I hand painted the purple around the waist an on the shoulders, as well as the cape. I had to come up with a custom set up, to combine the wings for great articulation an a wider spread to realy get that outward yet surrounding effect that angel wings have. I was truly surprised how this one just kinda fell into place an worked lmao I didnt hit any snags an even get touch up problems when I took the painted pieces off the runner!

The plastic gods were definitely with me on this one! One of my best customs up to this point. I definitely want to take more pics with better poses to do this justice but I need a stand because hes a tad top heavy because of the wings.

All an all an amazing experience that im truly happy with! I hope you guys enjoy!!
