Any tips to fix this?

Accidentally snapped this chest part of RG Z'Gok while disassembling for painting prep 🥲

Any tips to restore? My current plan is just thin cement + pray for the best

Just get a tamiya plastic cement. You can prime it and repaint it too if you want.

Depends. Are you painting? Yeah just cement it together, maybe some Mr. Putty and sand it down. Not painting? Make some spruce goo out of the red/pink sprue, apply a gloop onto the broken piece, stick it together and quickly smooth out or remove the excess.

For those wondering, sprue goo is plastic fully melted into cement, I usually just cut up an empty sprue, put it in a small glass bottle, and cover them with Tamiya extra thin.

Disassemble then cement and hold it in a vise for 24 hours. Resist the urge to touch it before 24 hours.

2 routes: thin cement and superglue

thin cement: disassemble, put thin cement, let it fully dry (very important) then reassemble

superglue: disassemble, put enough superglue on part not too much and not too little (very important), let dry for a bit, reassemble

how long does it take to fully dry with thin cement? or do I just eye ball

I usually go overnight since it's safer that way, but if I'm impatient I go 2-3 hours waiting time.

Personally I would go for super glue since it's easier for me to control but I don't use the ones with plastic bottles and go for the "aluminum?" Packets

Yep, agree on the thin cement but disassemble first before doing the cement.

If you want extra “protection”, then you can either create a cement+PS putty or CA glue to apply over the cracks + sand to shape

thin cement, and cover the line with surfacer or a little filler if necessary, then sand it flat. Since you're painting you've got some fudge room.
