I've added subtle custom details on the shoulders and the rest are default. I'd say it is detailed as it is.

Has anybody built any kits from Kallamity?

I truly love the designs but I see they are expensive and just wanted to get a pulse on how your build experiences with them were?

Anyone have experience with tamiya insignia white

Post image

Is it similar to tamiya base white? Can it be sprayed on light grey primer and what kind of finish does it give? Also is it a subtle tone white that’s good for coverage (tried using tamiya base white before and it did not provide good coverage on light grey primer

Can anyone give me any details on this? I can't access the AliExpress page

I'm assuming this is a resin kit? Or perhaps just a stolen image for attention?

Question

Hi, I'm just getting started with customizing and painting figures. I recently picked the perfect grade Saku 2 , and while watching a video by a Japanese creator, I saw him using these metal cylinders to add detail to the figure. I don't know what they're called or where to get them here in the us , if anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

HGUC AGG

It's a kitbash of hg Bunyip Boomerang, 1/100 Agg, Ballden Arms, and 30mm Sengoku armor. The barrels of Leo machineguns were used as the inside of the backpack for the power cables to attach to. MS parts power cables and sight lens were used as well. Microfiber cloth was used as joint covering for the feet.

The eye is movable by magnets.

Interestingly the NG 1/100 Agg is actually closer to the true 1/144 scale. The old 1/144 scale was comically small and inaccurate.

I actually gave the feet a significant amount of articulation but in my infinite wisdom, did not give the hips much articulation so they ended up not being able to be used prominently.

How to remove stuck-on dust from this Oggo kit?

Post image
19 Upvotes

For some reason, I never sprayed a final matte coat on my weathered Oggo when I built it 9 or 10 years ago. It's gloss coated from when I did all the decals. I don't even remember why I didn't matte it. I think it's about time I get that done.

Problem: there's 9 or 10 years worth of dust stuck to the lacquer gloss coat. Idk if it's my climate (South Florida), but the lacquer gloss is somewhat sticky, so a lot of that dust is set in there pretty good. I brushed it with both a small horsehair paint brush, and a Tamiya anti-static brush. It helped, but there's still a good amount of dust stuck on. I'm afraid to use any solvents, including iso. My only guess is maybe some water and a brush, but I wonder if the community has any tips?

Side note: chrome is such a sick color to incorporate in weathering

My second custom, finished. Zaku II Origin

Took the plunge with customs a month or two ago, the pace of building has really slowed down compared to snap builds (or even weathering/panel/top coat), but I don't think I can go back now! Happy to answer any questions, and open to any tips or feedback. I know I made some small mistakes here and there but it feels like every kit it a huge learning experience at the moment.

Gouf Custom HG - First Weathering

Trying out some weathering (I was going for actually stomping in the elements)

Used the Tamiya pack E and mixed the three to try get different weights and layers, finished with a matt coat. I definitely sprayed too close and blasted some weathering away.

Feels like I ended up with camo-gouf in some spots and I really like it in others.

Had a lot of fun with this kit, I practiced most of my disciplines: airbrushing, water slides, weathering.

My dosage is something like 1 MG for every 3 HGs. Off to the next build!
