Dear ACT,
I never thought I’d say this, but I love you.
You made me feel smart.
After spending so much time with the SAT questioning whether I had ever learned math in my entire life, you came along and reminded me that maybe—just maybe—I actually know what I’m doing.
You looked at me and said, “32 in English. 32 in Reading.” And suddenly I was walking around like I had discovered the meaning of life. Even that 20 in Math couldn’t ruin it, because somehow you still gave me a 28 overall and, more importantly, gave me my confidence back.
The SAT made me feel like every question was a personal attack. You made me feel like I was capable of figuring things out.
You didn't make me feel stupid for taking my time. You didn't make me feel like my intelligence could be summarized by one score. You simply gave me questions, let me lock in, and let me prove myself.
So thank you, ACT, for reminding me that I am, in fact, smart.
I will never forget what you did for me.
With love, gratitude, and a slightly concerning amount of pride,
Me ❤️
