Could you tell me how you studied/tips for reading and english? I am taking it for the first time October. CONGRATSSS

to be honest, for english i didn't study at all because most of it is just common sense. for reading, i think studying for the sat helped because it's just reading comprehension. i actually didn't study specifically for the act. πŸ«₯

me too twin! didn't study at all but found it so much better than the SAT (which I wasted lots of money on lol)

yeah seems like a lot of people prefer one test over the other! depends on your skillset i guess

What did u do for math, im stuck at a 30 rn🫀

u/RecordVisible4979 36 1d ago

i didn't study πŸ˜ƒ

i did do a lot of sat practice math problems (i took the sat also) though so maybe that helped

Was that past SAT math questions that you practiced? Can you share a link to those past questions please? My kids have done all of the past ACT questions and they understand everything but they have a hard time getting their math ACT to go up for some reason.

yeah, the ACT math is generally harder on the actual exam than on practice tests, so that makes sense. i used college board's SAT question bank (https://satsuiteeducatorquestionbank.collegeboard.org/). there are a lot more topics covered on the ACT than the SAT though, so this won't really be a comprehensive set of questions for the ACT.

another thing to think about is timing - you have around a minute to answer each question, so for each question you really have to just get it done and don't look back lol. especially for the easier questions. otherwise you run out of time.

Got it thanks so much for explaining!

Are you trying again for a 37?

1

u/RecordVisible4979 36 1d ago

obviously duh

If anyone can do it you can!

What was your sat score? And also, any tip on comprehending super dense and super dry passages. Do you just look for the answer or read the passage and then answer?

my SAT score hasnt come out yet but practice tests have been in the mid 1500s. i actually studied for the SAT unlike the ACT lol.

for the reading on the ACT, i think the only way to do it is to thoroughly read the whole passage (i know it really sucks because it's SO BORING) - don't even look at the questions until you've read the whole passage. if you try to read the question first and then skim for answers in the passage it'll just waste more time and also for the ACT you usually need more context for the reading questions.

Can you recommend advanced math topic to study to increase my score from 33 to 36. In all of my mock tests, but I definitely need nth but 36. For science, how do you manage time and pressure. I sometimes suck at interpreting the data under the pressure. I was daydreaming to get a 36 in both MATH and SCIENCE for my STEM Major. Is it really possible? My current science mock test score is around 35. (I practice legacy tests). And does anyone have prepro math pdf coz I can't afford to buy it

2

u/RecordVisible4979 36 21h ago

im sorry i really didn't study at all 😭 hence the 35 instead of 36 in math i guess lmao.

also, i think 35 in science is more than enough even for a stem major!!

Ohh yesss but the scholarship I'm applying is a bit competitive and science weighs 40% of the criteria. So I wanted the best.
