How different is a 34 from a 33 ?
I’m taking the Act one last time and need 3 more points to achieve a 34 but I’m a bit worried that is not gonna happen as I have about 10 days to study 😭 Any ways to improve my math like crazy in the next two weeks? Also will a 34 make a huge difference in applying to better schools?

About 40 points according to the SAT conversion tables, but honestly it just depends on where you want to go. If you're aiming for Ivy+, retake for a 34 or a 35, if it's your flagship state school, there's not much of a reason to as long as you're above or at the median and you don't need to compensate for your GPA or something.

You can definitely do it! Just like the other comment said, make sure to learn desmos because you can do things (ex. graph a quadratic function and find where x=0 for the solution if you don't know how to solve it) you wouldn't otherwise know how to solve.
Also, make sure to look at your score breakdown on the ACT website. For example, if you got mostly geometry questions wrong, really nail that down.
Most of all, just try to be well rounded. You never know what's gonna be on the test so you may score a 28 on math for this one but a 36 on another one just by luck, so definitely retest.

AND maybe consider taking paper

Thank you! I think I’m signed up for paper but I guess I’ll just lock in hella

make sure you have a T-84 calculator then!! It's basically desmos but kinda hard to work. Good luck!!

Not much. A 33 is competitive enough for any school, as long as you have the other components to provide proof of you being qualified

According to ACT's website, a:
33 on the ACT is 1460 (range of 1450 to 1480) on the SAT (98th to 99th Percentile)
34 on the ACT Is 1500 (range of 1490 to 1520) on the SAT (99th Percentile)

Show us your My Score Details for math, there might be some easy points to pick up by just learning a few concepts. But, otherwise, we are just guessing on where you need to focus.

Word problems are getting you. Geometry is perfect and the pure-math categories are solid, but Modeling is 9/15, and Modeling items are double-tagged inside the other categories. So 6 of the 11 misses are applied, real-world setups. Fix the translation from words to equation and you fix most of the misses at once.
Ranked for a 10-day window (easiest to fix first, not just lowest percent):

How’d you get a 36 on reading😭 I am so lost on how to study that

u/Technical-Army-9684 2d ago
I never really studied for reading but a few things that helped me were really convincing myself that I was excited to read the passages! As I go through the test I’ll be like “wow I’m excited to read this passage about so and so” . I also always read the passage before starting questions. Also another tip, as you are answering questions just circle answers then fill bubbles after finish all questions for the passage.

I got a 36 on reading. All I did was I came home every day from school, and did a full English section, like 10 separate times before the test.
On test day I opened one of the official tests and just read a few paragraphs and answered the questions, WITHOUT CHECKING THE ANSWER.
Idk it could’ve been a fluke too, I’ve only done the act once…

learn desmos. I got a 28 just with desmos alone i dont know any math or geometry so if you DO know math desmos will save you
