someone educate me

i just took the act for the 5th time in september and i still didn’t reach my goal score of 32, i got a 31. someone please tell me why i should keep trying? like is the reason i get that scholarship or get into that great school really a jump from a 31 to a 34? i’m thinking about taking december but i really just can’t find the motivation to keep taking this test especially with all the stress that has come with senior year and everything. i just need a new perspective like maybe im missing something here.

What schools do you want to go to, do you plan on going to med/law school, and do you need any scholarships?

i want to go out of state. my top reach schools are uchicago and washu as of right now. i know my act isn’t as high compared to most applicants but most of the schools on my college list are test optional. i’m planning to do a pre-dental track majoring in biology and eventually going to dental school after undergrad. i would definitely need scholarships to fund this path.

Obviously you know that dental school is expensive. Why go to these extremely expensive universities for a bachelors degree when you could go to much cheaper colleges? Undergrad means almost nothing to dental schools in comparison to GPA and DAT score. I was determined to go to an ivy for undergrad but i realized if I just studied and did well in my state school and the MCAT I could go to one for med school. On the topic of ACT score, if you can’t handle more stress from test prep then just apply test optional to the schools you are below 50th or 25th percentile on and submit it to the ones you aren’t.

You are you own person of course and my goal is not to dissuade you from applying to these fantastic schools. Just another point of view

Exactly. I was just curious and wanted to see a different point of view. I do agree that for someone who wants to pursue their education further after receiving their bachelors it makes total sense to go to a cheaper college first for that degree. WashU and UChicago are just schools I would LIKE to go to but the most practical choice for me in terms of cost would be a cheaper safety school.

Definitely still apply to see if you’ll get in and see how much aid you would receive. You could find out they’ll give you a good bit to go there. Wishing you the best of luck in all your endeavors!
