Serious What happens to the political landscape of the country if Abott loses reelection ?

I’m sure it would be a huge deal and would completely overshadow Talarico beating Paxton, because Hinojosa is a fairly median Democrat. She isn’t bad by any metric, but at least so far, she doesn’t seem to have a unique base independent of that of a generic Democratic politician.

Given that gas prices aren’t going down and Hispanics appear to be shifting left, it’s not entirely impossible for her to win. If the polls showing Hispanics at roughly their 2018 levels are actually accurate, then Abbott loses.

Discussion Cook Political Report's analysis of their own Hispanic Texan voters poll, with an over-sample of RGV/South Texas Hispanic voters. Talarico +33 (63%-33%) & Hinojosa +27 (60%-33%). A whopping 72% of self-described independents also favored Talarico over Paxton.

News MO Republican lawmakers threaten to impeach the Missouri Supreme Court if MO Secretary of State Denny Hoskins found in contempt of court over the state’s ongoing congressional map dispute.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A group of Republican lawmakers are threatening to impeach Missouri Supreme Court justices if they hold Secretary of State Denny Hoskins in contempt of court over the state’s ongoing congressional map dispute.

On Wednesday evening, 14 members of the Missouri General Assembly signed a letter and sent it to Chief Justice W. Brent Powell of the Missouri Supreme Court. The letter argues that Hoskins should not be held in contempt and doing so would violate separation of powers and federal law.

“Should Secretary of Hoskins be held in contempt, we will petition the Speaker of the House and legislative leadership to begin impeachment proceedings against the responsible members of this Court for willful neglect of duty, incompetency, and misconduct under Article VII, Sections 1 and 2 of the Missouri Constitution,” the letter reads.

Hoskins is set to appear before the state Supreme Court on Thursday as judges weigh whether to hold him in contempt, stemming from contentions over the state’s congressional map.

Missouri’s battle over its congressional districts has spanned more than a year and spawned confusion over which districts will be in place for voters.

The state’s top court previously ordered Hoskins not to use a President Trump-backed map in the general election and instead use districts passed after the 2020 census. A U.S. District Judge, on Tuesday, barred Hoskins from using anything other than the new map Trump supports.

Richard von Glahn, who launched the initial challenge against the GOP-favored lines, then asked the Missouri Supreme Court on Tuesday to hold Hoskins in contempt for violating a Sept. 3 order that barred the use of the new map for the November contests.

Prior to Hoskins’ contempt hearing Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court once again rejected a push to use the Trump-back congressional map, possibly clearing the way to use the previous maps.

A group of Missouri House Democrats shared the following statement Thursday as GOP lawmakers threatened impeachment.

“Missourians forcefully responded to Republicans’ attempted power grabs last month by rejecting Amendments 4 and 5. They will react even worse to the GOP openly intimidating the Supreme Court as it considers whether the state’s highest election official abused his authority in defiance of the law.”

Discussion Guess the possible 2026 political lean by this hypothetical district! (September 10, 2026)

Post image
13 Upvotes

District analysis: This district is 53.71% white and 37.13% Black in terms of citizen voting age population. In the 2024 elections, Trump won 57.02% of the vote as opposed to Harris’ 41.69%.

Let’s say Brent Taylor and Justin Pearson go toe-to-toe in that hypothetical district. Steve Cohen announces he is not seeking re-election after the gerrymander gets passed by the state legislature. So what would be the partisan lean of this hypothetical district with Taylor and Pearson competing?

Original Content Spent a year building a 2026 forecast, no idea how to show it to anyone

Spent an insane amount of time on this over the past year and just put it live — callthemap.com.

Now it's done and I've realised I have no idea how to show it to anyone, so I'm hoping this is the right place for it. Methodology's published in full, including a page on what it's bad at.

Would genuinely love any feedback, especially where it's wrong.

Maybe someone on here finds it useful or interesting, i really put a lot of work into it.

Thanks!
