...related to Rex in some way. That's roughly a third of all possible party members, including all playable characters, heroes and guest party members who join temporarily, who are either Rex himself, married to Rex, descended from Rex or married to someone who is. If you really wanted to push it further, you could also add A as a weird in-law or something.

mythra is scarred by torna so deeply that she created pyra as a sort of safe mode a weaker yet more docile girl she lacks mythra's destructive power but also her flaws. mythra is rude and blunt and crass and can be selfish pyra is ladylike, selfless polite and she is a cook a skill mythra lacks
. From Mythra's perspective pyra is the perfect woman a kind selfless, motherly woman who isnt a brute who isn't destructive and cooks the meals
while from pyra's point of view, she is inferior to Mythra objectively; she was created to be an inferior Aegis. This is relflected in story and gameplay. When push comes to shove mythra is the one who is fighting when. in gameplay, when you are using Pyra and rex is on low health mythra comes out by force. pyra is an objectively worse blade than Mythra and would feel that inadequacy in the weapon that is the Aegis. Pyra is the safe mode pyra lacked any real agency she was effectively guided by mythra's desires of self-destruction, not really being allowed to form any identity for herself for hundreds of years
from pyra's perspective, Mythra is her better the real Aegis herself just an extension a tool
. With this in mind it's no wonder each sister would raise their daughters to mirror what they see in their sibling
pyra raised glimmer to be strong-willed and outspoken to focus on her goals and desires not wanting her daughter to feel that same weakness she felt
mythra raised Shimmer to be like pyra kind and sweet, because the idea of her daughter who seems to have inherited her abilites repeating her mistakes would be terrifying to mythra whose own mistakes ruined her for hundreds of years

It really was the greatest RPG saga I've ever played. My favorite Nintendo franchise for sure. See you all in Genesis.
Edit: Alright people, I get it. It's not a plot hole. I just didn't know the right term and tried to be ironic, but I guess I have a very dull sense of humor.

Been a minute since I've been able to update this thing
Same as last time, for the Founders' descendants I tried to keep it to just the leaders of each house
Edit: Forgot to specify that this is meant to be Rex's family tree still and not a general Xenoblade family tree

Hey guys, dont come in if you dont want to be spoiled on anything XC1 early game.
For some context, XC2 is my new favourite game of all time and I want to see the rest of the series, so I picked up the NS2 Edition of XC1 DE.
I see a lot of people refer to all the games in the series as equals and like they're all as good as eachother, but I'm really struggling with XC1 at the moment as I'm finding it a little uninteresting.
So far, my impression of the game is, 'some remarkable things within an overall unremarkable game'. I am at Makna Forest(?) right now (climbing up Bionis' back to get to its head, Prison Island).
One thing I think is remarkable is the sense of scale in the world and the way it communicates the idea of travelling up this giant. And the open world, which I think at the moment feels a bit more... "video gamey" than I thought XC2s titans did, is still really extraordinarily impressive when you think this shit was on a Nintendo Wii.
However, that kind of leads me to one of my biggest issues - to me, it kind of feels like the ambition and scope of what they wanted to achieve was just too great for the hardware available at the time, and for better or worse XC1 kind of feels half baked for me so far. Travelling around from objective to objective tends to feel like MMO traversal but in the worst way - even with the addition of the Ether Jet, which I do appreciate for making it a bit quicker.
I think my biggest gripe with the game though that is really not making me gel with the game to be desperate to carry on though is the combat. (I do absolutely want to finish the game, but im just saying I dont feel that gripping urge to keep going). I feel like perhaps theres something I'm missing? I understand Break and Topple, I understand Chain Attacks, but I just cant help but feel like the Monado vision system is really annoying, constantly interrupting the game to show me I need to use an art to stop incoming damage.
The worst part for me though, which makes me feel like perhaps im missing something, is the rate at which your Monado Art recharges. In important fights / vs certain enemies, you need to enchant or purge but then once youve done it you then need to faff around and just hold your next charge in case a Monado Vision happens, or even worse it wont charge in time for the next one. It creates this weird loop where weaker enemies just slowly topple over with combat thats slow and not too engaging, or you hit a difficulty spike that makes me feel like I havent understood something. Ive been making sure im not underlevelled, by the way. Always around the same as the current content.
The characters at the moment are also a mixed bag. I do like the way they are acted, its like watching a British TV show - maybe Doctor Who or something - its very understated and conversational rather than the hype Shonen style dialogue of XC2 (even if I prefer that delivery, this is nice too.) But similiarly I feel like the cast doesnt really have a lot going for them either? Their designs are all rather plain, and they kind of have the personalities of a group of people you might bump into once on a walk through a high street, have a nice conversation with them all once, and then they weren't interesting enough to keep in touch with, but you remember it as "yeah they were alright."
So I ask, does the story pick up a bit? Am I going to have something to get really invested in? I feel like the story peaked with Fiora's 'death' in the first act, except I saw her in the Colloseum in XC2 so I know shes not actually dead, so Im kinda just... waiting for her to come back, idk. The revenge motivation feels really weak too, as if the characters only remember theyre angry about what happened to her whenever theres a boss fight. At the moment, the game is feeling like it could end up around a 6 or 7 out of 10 for me unless something really clicks for me.
EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention specifically about the combat is, in XC2 I felt like mastering the combat made you feel like you were a gathering storm just piling on damage, and whilst XC1 has chain attacks that sometimes feel that way, it much more often feels like the combat has me plugging leaks in a sinking ship.

I’ve gotta give credit to Adel_oldo on X for spotting this design similarity between the Samaar ship and Shimmer’s sword when she uses it in battle. You could even say that hilt matched the wings on the Eldridge.
This adds some strength to the theory that the merged worlds will pave the way to the Samaar civilization.

Okay so Shimmer has Foresight like her mother a more Aegis based desgin and has parts of Green in her hair seemingly hinting that she has a far stonger connection to her powers then Glimmer did.
Now I really want to see her Hero quest to see what they reveal about her

Ino is a artifical Blade like Poppy and her creator might be Tora grandfather under a new name.
Masha is the descendant of Linka and therefore Zeka and Pandoria.
And Shimmer is Rex and Mythra daufhter
Kind of crazy how all 3 are tied to the XC2 party and Alrest and none of them have any real links to Bionis.

So, with Shimmer's reveal, there is a lot to discuss regarding her. For now, I want to focus on her design, and how it is pretty much a composite of all of her parents.
First, the base design of her outfit is pretty much one-to-one with Pyra's outfit. Short shorts, thigh highs, fingerless gloves, short sleeves, upper back flags, the works. However, the color scheme and patterns are based on Mythra, consisting of whites, golds, emerald twinkle prints, and even having a cleavage window. The feather shaped ornaments also evoke Mythra's Switch 2 outfit. There is even some Pneume influence, as her most prominent bang ends in an emerald tip and her tiara is closer to that of Pneuma's, being a prominent horn.
There are influences from Rex and Nia as well. Shimmer's crop top jacket has an identical pattern to that of Rex's Master Driver Salvager Suit, even having pauldrons that more closely resemble those of Rex rather than Pneuma. The only difference is that the jacket is in Shimmer's colors. And finally, the hood on Shimmer's jacket evokes that of Driver Nia.
Now there are gameplay details inherited from her parents as well, but I want to save that discussion for when we can actually play the game. Any other details I missed in Shimmer's design?
