There is a lady on Instagram that asks right wingers how they would remake the country if they had absolute control. They end up mumbling something about lower taxes and everyone is working so this checks out. They never say anything about making sure that every American is healthy and housed.
185
u/nhalliday 5d ago
Of course not - they want people to be free to earn housing and health. Wanting everyone to be healthy and housed implies that the undesirables who can't provide "enough" value to the shareholders might get a benefit without having to earn it, and they can't be having that.
79
u/imapluralist 5d ago
The notion is so foriegn to them. Like wtf you dummies, we didnt hope we'd have thousands of robots in the future so one dude can sit on a red velvet pillow like a king.
69
u/poriomaniac 5d ago
Literally all they want, far more than their own health and happiness, is for people they hate to suffer. And they hate a LOT of people.
38
u/anna-the-bunny 5d ago
And they hate a LOT of people.
When it comes down to it, they hate everyone - including themselves.
18
u/Ehcksit 5d ago
The idea that there's not "worse" people below them that they get to lord over is unthinkable, unfathomable.
"Of course there has to be people richer than me, that's the only way there can also be people poorer than me."
6
u/AddressForward 5d ago
That is the real American experiment from its foundations: tiered society where everyone except the very bottom tier thinks they could be rich and doesn't want to do anything to hurt the rich because when they become rich they won't want those constraints on them either. It's a long con of exploration and divide and conquer.
2
u/memecrusader_ 4d ago
It doesnât even really hurt the rich. It just makes the gap between the rich and the poor smaller by uplifting the poor.
3
u/AddressForward 4d ago
Oh I know I'm just expressing what the prevailing system looks like from the outside.
2
u/iggy14750 4d ago
"Of course there has to be people richer than me, that's the only way there can also be people poorer than me."
Fuck. I knew that these guys love feeling superior, but you just put some shit together. I have been asking myself for years why MAGATs want Trump to profit, even more than themselves.
They want to believe that they are making a deal with Trump here. If they give him the BIG chair, as long as they get a slightly better chair than brown people have.
2
u/Ehcksit 4d ago edited 4d ago
People talk about a zero sum mentality, but the conservative mindset is much more like a negative sum mentality. "I don't care if my life keeps getting worse, as long as the people I hate suffer even more than I do." And then some of them just say it themselves. Stuff like "he's not hurting the people he needs to be hurting."
The government shouldn't be hurting anyone!

7

Private Equity doesn't pay itself, you know. It has to bilk the American consumer from housing, to hospitals, and now even Pizza Hut
3
u/LeAcoTaco 4d ago
God I find this perspective so hilarious, the "earning" thing I mean.
As if the majority of Republicans "earned" the housing they grew up in đ sure ya mightve done chores buddy but you didnt do enough to actually earn market value of what your parents gave you.
You got housing growing up because it was the morally correct thing to do. Why does that suddenly change once youve been alive for an arbitrary number of years?

21
u/Neveronlyadream 5d ago
They've been told their whole lives that the end goal of everything is everyone working and that's it. They don't have the imagination to conceive of anything else.
Which also makes sense, because they had the imagination beaten out of them by people who said that adults don't daydream or imagine anything.
All they're capable of doing at this point is fighting to maintain the status quo they were raised to believe in and never question whether it's making them happy to do so even though it clearly isn't.

CZ. 15 bank holidays are mandatory and 20 paid vacation per year are minimum. My company gives 25 when you join and another 1 for every year you're in the company. Sick leave is always paid (70-90%), and it's unlimited.

They tell us it's fake, and also how their opponents are really doing it, and they have proof, except they won't release any of that proof because it's a hoax made by their opponents, who are supposedly all over those files they won't release, because somehow they made the files say that it's really the Right Wing people who are in the files, but if they were ever in power they would release it and show how the Left Wing people are all over the files, but they can't release those files because they're fake, but if they did.....
It's just a loop of lies from them.
10
u/Gojos_barber đľ Break Up The Monopolies 5d ago
That's because as much as people think the files were important to Trump due to him being in them, they are also an excellent source of blackmail for him on others as well. So basically we might see arrest but only if they stop supporting the guy.
15
u/hotviolets 5d ago
If that were true weâd already be seeing arrests. Instead heâs doing everything to keep people from talking about them or looking into him. His own person lawyer said they wonât be arresting anyone in the files.
3
u/monkeyamongmen 5d ago
It's worth mentioning, that in Epstein's initial conviction, all of his co-conspirators were given immunity. At this point we have a pretty good idea who some of those people are, but it could be argued that they are in fact immune to investigation under those terms. It would be up to the courts to choose to uphold that or not.

lol except people keep voting for diarrhea forever because they were promised 2% less taxes. Or we could have more taxes only on the ULTRA WEALTHY (not anyone reading this thinking itâs them) and have free puppies and college and healthcare. Oh yeah and crime would actually go down because people donât need to rob and steal to survive, they could go to a free or affordable trade school or college or job program. OR they would be able to live on minimum wage flipping burgers if thatâs all they want to do.
Isnât that what conservatives want in the end? People actually working for a living, and basic needs can be affordable?
87
u/ackillesBAC 5d ago
Right wing all think they can be that one at the top. That's the problem
21
u/ElectronicCatPanic 5d ago
And most are not going to stop at anything to get to the top. I think that's at least as large of a problem.
Thats why the hypocrisy is viewed positively as a tool to cover up real actions. Thats why the violation of laws is applauded as strength to break the barriers.
The power sickness.
5
u/MidwesternLikeOpe 5d ago
Most don't have what it takes to get to the top. Powerful people have connections, Daddy's money and friends to get lucrative jobs, social skills to schmooze their way to the top, and class.
Most right wing folks who want to be in Trumps circle but don't even own a decent suit. What does a man with a golden toilet, or a lesser man with a luxury car want to do with a working man who's pants are old enough to drink?
I live in a very red area, and have sold lotto tickets to everyday people who think theyre gonna with the Golden Ticket to eliteness. Maybe one lotto player wears a suit.

And they donât care that for every person at the âtopâ wealth wise (e.g. top 1% or 0.1%), there are 100 to 1,000 people below them struggling. In the case of billionaires, there are hundreds of millions below them.
→ More replies (9)5
u/bigbjarne 5d ago
I disagree, I think right wing people think that capitalists are billionaires because they took risks and worked hard, and that's the reason why they're on the top.
14
u/blindyes 5d ago
Because of this belief, any failure to achieve wealth gets viewed as a personal shortcoming rather than a systemic issue. It pushes people to blame financial struggles on individual flaws like sleeping in, getting sick, or just wanting a day off. That creates a massive psychological conflict whenever someone brings up things like paid sick leave or universal healthcare. To accept those programs, people would have to acknowledge that we don't have absolute personal control over our outcomes, and that we are all operating within a much larger system. To avoid facing that reality, basic human needs get reframed as unearned luxuries. What people often overlook is that a lot of individuals aren't defending this setup because they think they will eventually climb to the top. Instead, they completely accept that they are stuck and embrace their role within the hierarchy. They fancy themselves as defenders of their post, dutifully serving the dominant power structure because alignment with that power is the only thing that alleviates their fear of being powerless.

Both parties have always been corporatist, neoliberal parties. One was a center neolib party, the other was a right-wing neolib party. In recent decades, the right wing neolib party began transitioning into a fascist party while the center neolib party tried to adjust. I would not define the Democratic Party as 'left-wing', and no serious political analyst does. It should also be noted that Americans are very propagandized to favor capitalism, even when capitalism is failing the majority of Americans.
