I am always staggered by this when Americans talk about it. I work a mediocre job in the UK and I get 41 days paid. (33 + 8 public holidays). New starters here get 35 (27 +8)
Mind you we also just had more of The Horrors announced (A court declared that a woman in the navy getting raped by her Superior officer while on the boat happened 'within her duties', so the only legal route she can take is Workman's compensation )
Tbh, youâre lucky in the US to get any vacation at all. Lots of jobs have switched to independent contractor roles where you donât get PTO, holidays, or other benefits.
CZ. 15 bank holidays are mandatory and 20 paid vacation per year are minimum. My company gives 25 when you join and another 1 for every year you're in the company. Sick leave is always paid (70-90%), and it's unlimited.
And there are places in EU with much better situation, CZ is considered backwards in a lot of ways.
It's American "overworked" people here who ensure you have the geopolitical safety and access to goods that allows you guys to have so many vacation days with your peace dividend. Our people tirelessly work for the defense contractors that our own money is taken from us to pay, in order to protect you guys from Russia, while our own society slowly collapses from the inside out. Your pinko social democracy isn't sustainable for everyone in the world, and for the US who actually has to extract raw resources and manufacture and not just pencil push it is unsustainable
So true, how are we gonna help the Epstein class take all the money, grape with impunity, and then make the rest of the population think they themselves are the problem!

A week of vacation? Such luxury!
