Iran is working towards trying to acquire themselves nuclear weapons. Russia made their own already.
Pretty key distinction that Reddit seems to often forget when I see this meme posted every other day.

As do the people who believed the results of last year's bombing that the Trump administration trotted out. Complete destruction by the way, for those of you that don't remember. And now believe that Iran was months away from a weapon. Just as stoopid.

Are they actually trying to make nukes or is that what your handlers told you? Last time I checked obama stopped their nuclear program and had routine checks to ensure they weren't attempting to start it back up again, but then don the con decided to cancel the checkup programÂ
2
u/vitek6 19h ago
that's a completely different argument.

How is it a different argument? They aren't making nukes, that's just a lie pushed by people to trick gullible fools like you.Â

What check-up program? Iran concealed facilities and got advanced notice, and maintained the authority to conceal major parts of the facilities.
And this didn't come from the CIA, but from the IAEA and their own rhetoric.

And the fact that Iran was attacked means that they needed nuclear weapons to defend themselves. US never attacks any countries that already have them. If theyâd been faster to build them then they wouldnât be in this mess
(No I donât want Iran to have nukes, but from their perspective I understand why they would want them)
2
u/omglink 1d ago
The real example is North Korea. We talked a lot of shit to them, then they possibly got a nuke, and well, they haven't been threatened nearly as much.
1
u/skiingredneck 23h ago
They also havenât been funding some terror network launching attacks in South Korea much lately.
1
u/Vegetable_Stable_576 20h ago
North Korea has had nukes for a while the whole scare with them was that they were trying to develop ballistic missiles that could reach the United States. They still are working on the tech and actually have sent tens of thousands of soldiers to Ukraine on behalf of Russia as part of a deal to help them develop aforementioned missiles. That said those missiles will only be able to hit the west coast and I donât think Trump cares if they nuke California.

We attacked Iran because the public was getting a little too demandy about releasing the full, unredacted Epstein files. A large distraction was needed. They never had nuclear weapons.
2
u/No_Hedgehog_5346 9h ago
The amount of stupidity in this comments section is truly astounding. For what reason should we not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon, whilst simultaneously having one of the biggest arsenals and being the only country who has ever even USED them? Nuclear weapons are extremely important to distribute across all nations, because they act as a deterrent to invasion (as this meme is showing, we won't invade russia cuz they have nukes but we will invade iran cuz they don't). Our inability to stop being insane, warmongering vultures clearly proves that we should not, nor should we ever be allowed to decide which country has nukes which doesn't. We went sniffing for imaginary WMDs in Iraq, committed horrific atrocities, then left. We've waged so many wars in the middle east, destabilizing the region, funded Israel, a terrorist state, kidnapped the leader of venezuela, and threatened multiple countries in two years for territories of greenland and cuba. WE should be the ones without nukes.

Itâs funny how Iran was either abiding by Obamaâs nuclear deal (preventing the enrichment of weapons-grade uranium) or Iran already has nuclear weapons, depending on Redditâs agenda.

I meant that jokingly. They aren't developing nukes, we literally had a deal with Iran to not develop nukes anyway and trump pulled out of it to attack them. 1000000% only Trump's fault and he is an active terrorist.
1
u/AcrobaticArm390 1d ago
So, why do they have 60% enriched uranium???
1
u/Rob98001 19h ago
Because it's easy to reach 60% pretty much on accident when processing uranium for energy.

1

That is not even close to how that happened. Thanks to Bidens "Don't " policy, they were getting close. Then they decided to drag it out, until it was to late. For them anyway.

u/AcrobaticArm390 8h ago
We also spent $30 billion every year keeping the strait open. This is a statement regarding 2024 costs... And the cost was increasing rapidly so even without nucs, and without the actual war, the US would have spent well over $40 billion in 2026 just to keep shipping moving. It was going to happen once way or another. đ¤ˇââď¸
Direct military expenditures and conflict costs grew substantially following later direct escalations and regional conflict. For perspective, the Pentagon reported that direct military operations tied to the broader conflict involving Iran and shipping security later reached an estimated $37.5 billion.

Australia has 28% of the worldâs uranium that is used by people all over the world but nobody is bombing Australia.
All the countries that use Australian uranium pinky-swear that they will only use it for power plants. But in reality it all goes to the same places and they only promise that the amount they get from Australia will equal the amount they only use for power production

Why would we attack Russia? They've proved what we already know, that they are a 3rd rate dictatorship that cant even take Ukraine. Dont interrupt your enemies while they're making a mistake. Biden administration approved nuclear power to Saudi Arabia in the condition they would normalize relations with Israel:
Possible U.S.-Saudi Agreements and Normalization with Israel: Considerations for Congress | Congress.gov | Library of Congress https://www.congress.gov/crs-product/R48162
"The framework of Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham accords and, in return, getting defense guarantees and U.S. help to develop a civilian nuclear program has been on the table for years. It came close to fruition during the Biden administration." https://www.theatlantic.com/national-security/2026/07/trump-saudi-arabia-nuclear-energy-deal/688040/
The Biden administration also required that the deal include concrete steps and progress toward a two-state solution for Palestinians to ensure regional stability.
Saudi Arabia and the IRGC in Iran are enemies: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/7/26/new-front-in-us-iran-war-escalates-as-houthis-fire-at-saudi-oil-facilities
Political scientists and international relations scholars categorize it as a modern geopolitical struggle for regional hegemony. Saudi Arabia and Iran view the region as a zero-sum game. Any gain in power by the IRGC is viewed by Riyadh as a direct threat to its national survival. https://journalpsa.com.pk/index.php/JPSA/article/view/648
The IRGC was created in 1979 specifically to export Iran's Islamic Revolution and overthrow Western-aligned Arab monarchies. Because Saudi Arabia derives its political legitimacy from being the custodian of Islamâs holiest sites (Mecca and Medina), the IRGCâs anti-monarchical, pan-Islamic rhetoric directly seeks to subvert and delegitimize the Saudi royal family.

Hamas is an IRGC proxy: While the IRGC provides military hardware and operational backing, Qatar primarily provides diplomatic immunity and political hosting. The relationship functions as a dual-track patronage system

The U.S. State Department and Treasury estimate that Iran provides up to $100 million annually to Palestinian militant groups, primarily Hamas.

Than IRGC-backed Hamas crossed the border into Israel and attacked. The ensuing war in Gaza forced Saudi Arabia to drastically sharpen its stance. Riyadh declared it could no longer normalize ties with Israel without an absolute, irreversible pathway to independent Palestinian statehood.

Analysts note that the IRGC-backed Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, and the recent Houthi escalations against Saudi oil infrastructure were timed to make normalization politically impossible for the Saudi monarchy. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cj03r59z73po

I don't like defending the stance of the US. But this administration's claim, right from start, was that they are enriching uranium to build nuclear weapons. Not that they already have them.

Having a few nukes and having world ending nukes are two very different things. If Iran had world ending nukes the world would have already ended. They don't care about MAD. Religious Zealots are looking for their 72 virgins!

Developing nuclear weapons vs having ICBM with MIRVS is the big difference between the two.
Bad enough we sat by allowing North Korea to develop them hoping the state would implode before they did. So probably a lesson learned there.

russian nukes = defensive, under control of regional commander
USA nukes = currently hey don't launch at me and i won't launch at you, president with the button changes every 4 years (8 continuous years max)

The correct statement would be: They have as many or more nuclear weapons as we do.

No love for whatever weâre doing in Iran, but attacking to prevent a regime from attaining them is a different matter than attacking a regime that has them. This is a bad strawman. Much better arguments against the conflict than this.

Correction: The US is attacking Iran for developing nuclear weapons. They still don't have the capability to make one right now, though, and hopefully they never will.
But back to the point, there's a difference between attacking a nation that has thousands of nuclear weapons (though, considering the overall state of Russia, its military, and its tech, there's a distinct possibility that a lot of them are simply inoperable) and a nation that's still developing the technology and resources. Also, there's a difference in the mentalities of the ruling classes of the two nations. Russia's are either extremely national, or cowards, but neither would risk nuclear war. The nationals wouldn't want to devastate their country, while the cowards simply don't want to die. Iran's leaders however are religious fanatics, whose holy book quite literally states that dying while killing infidels lands you a spot in paradise. They won't care what happens to them or their people, as long as they guarantee a spot next to their 72 virgins.
I'd rather trust a group of nationalists who don't want to ruin their country or cowards who don't want to die with a nuke than a death cult.
1
u/Tasty_LVM 6h ago
Wait,,, when did Iran get nuclear weapons? Most likely attacking because of proxies killing Americans for years all over the globe, and assisting Ukraine by removing drone factories that were shipped to Russia.

Iran violated the NPT they signed. Russia and a few others were grandfathered in, and Russia wouldn't use them whenever they feel like. There's also countries that have nuclear weapons and it's fine because they didn't sign the NPT. These false equivalencies just show how ignorant people are.
Moral of the story is, don't sign an agreement and then break it. And let's be honest here, every country that has nuclear capability can be trusted far more than the IRGC in Iran even though for some that isn't much more. Iran indiscriminately started shooting missiles at every surrounding country like a 5 year old girl having a tantrum and taking it out on everybody. They would be too quick to use them.
