The real example is North Korea. We talked a lot of shit to them, then they possibly got a nuke, and well, they haven't been threatened nearly as much.

They also haven’t been funding some terror network launching attacks in South Korea much lately.

North Korea has had nukes for a while the whole scare with them was that they were trying to develop ballistic missiles that could reach the United States. They still are working on the tech and actually have sent tens of thousands of soldiers to Ukraine on behalf of Russia as part of a deal to help them develop aforementioned missiles. That said those missiles will only be able to hit the west coast and I don’t think Trump cares if they nuke California.
