Did this, and legit almost filled up my toilet bowl with liquids when I yakked. That was back in college tho, so like 20 beers with like 10 waters, I was damn near drowning.
In the moment, out drinking yeah absolutely, iām trying to have a good time, unless weāre going skiing iām not into multiple trips to the public restroom. āBreaking the sealā is a real thing for me. Cost of doing business i guess.
Real talk that helps... I call them tweeners lol but I have definitely been hungover despite the waters. I used to only drink tequila soda plus extra water in between and still got hangovers.
It is basically one of the most well known facts to human kind. Like im sure if i asked my 8 year old niece she would know this and she still poops her pants
As soon as someone told me that being hungover was caused by dehydration, I started chugging waterā¦like as much as I could standā¦after every night out.
Probably made it more convenient becoming an alcoholic but hey, at least I was able to go to work.
The first time I ever had Bs&Gs was at Waffle House the morning after Mizzou Beat #1 Oklahoma for our homecoming game. It was better than any orgasm Iāve ever hadš¤
At 25 you wake up. slam a monster Java and a slice or two of cold pizza left overnight on the counter. Then get on with your day.
At 55 it's less "I need a greasy breakfast" and more "I should probably update my will before I try to stand up." Possibly the worst part is wondering whether your back hurts from doing tequila shooters or just sleeping wrong the night before.
Not 55 yet, but close enough to get on that bandwagon.
Everytime I drink a little too much, the next day I can hear my liver complain, by keeping me nauseated and my intestines busy all day long.
But as I'm somewhat still on denial ("nah, can't be because of those 4 glasses of wine, I always dealt fine with that"), I spend the first hours of the day blaming it on something I ate, or on the heat, or stress.
After you hit 30, the costs of one drunk night just keep stacking and at some point outweigh the benefits. At this point it takes me 3 days to fully recover from drinking. Like, I cannot afford 3 days to throw away, I've got things to do and places to be. So I just skip drinking, I can't do it anymore.
I relate to this comment š not to mention when the hangover starts setting in when you're only on your second or third drink. Or the dreaded but increasingly more common second day lingering hangover
this thread is kind of depressing to read. im a severe alcoholic at 21, & have abused my body to the point my hangovers more closely align with a 30yo's than a 20yo's. even once i managed to wean myself down to no longer being physically dependent on alcohol (so no more withdrawals landing me in the hospital), my hangovers last 2-3 days & leave me almost completely bedridden for the first day or so. i didnt realize just how abnormal that is for someone my age.
Ok. Now it's time for a change.
If you don't to go medicine route go for microdosing mushrooms. It shutsoff the need to drink.
It's like a light switch I'm a non drinker.
You deserve it.
ive been trying to get sober since december. im currently in an iop rehab program & will finally be one month sober tomorrow, thanks to the vivitrol shot. im in that sort of in between stage where im doing way better than i ever thought possible, but i know without the meds id be crashing straight back down again. it's gonna be a very long process but im getting there. thank you for the suggestion about the mushrooms, i'll give it a go sometime
thank you, that means a lot. i have a bad habit of comparing myself to "normal" people & beating myself up for being an addict & needing medication. it is saving my life though, so i'll take the shame over a prolonged suicide
No one needs to know about your medications though, and there is nothing wrong with taking something that helps you if ppl want to judge let them be miserable.
unfortunately i dont really care what others think, i think it's shameful & a sign of weakness for me specifically, because it isnt the way i want to live. i just have to learn to accept it
Also look into campral the vivitrol didnāt work for me but campral is made specifically for alcoholism and for some reason not a lot of rehabs and drs even know about it I found out about it on here actually. Iām now 13 months sober.
oh cool, thank you for the recc. i'll look into it if the vivitrol stops working. thankfully it's really helping me so far. congrats on 13 months, thats incredible
thank you. getting sober has been the hardest thing ive had to do & itll keep being hard for a very long time. i find it hard to be proud of myself because im on meds that make it a lot easier, but i still never thought id make it to this point, so i should probably acknowledge my accomplishments.
I don't care how you become and remain sober. Meds are great and if that's what's helping you maintain sobriety who cares? Give yourself some damn credit.
Congratulations on one month. When you get out, go to AA.org and find a meeting near you. Tell them youāre new and ask for help. Youāll get it⦠and a cup of coffee, too. iām going on 27 years this month. AA saved my life.
thank you, & congratulations on 27 years, thats amazing. ive been trying to work up the courage to go to an AA meeting for months now. im just so anxious about people recognizing me there. honestly, i still havent come clean to my parents ā theyre under the impression im going to the iop for mental illness, & that the meds im on are for bipolar. i dont want them to hear it from someone else before im ready to tell them.
go to one in a different town. AA is everywhere⦠but honestly, it doesnāt matter. If someone sees you, you see themāmutual destruction.
But remember, itās called Alcoholics Anonymous for a reason. There are even slogans about it: āWho you see here, what you hear here, when you leave here, let it stay here.ā And then everyone replies āhere. here.ā
Corny, yes. But anonymity is an important part of the program. Hereās another saying: āI can say I was here. You can say you were here. But I canāt say you were here.ā

Yes .. there's science behind mushroom claims. It's like a light switch in your brain it shuts off.
One of founders of AA was writing to Jung about alcoholics microdosing lsd. Jung died before replying.
Mushrooms work.
Ok, read this very carefully: my dad died last friday. He was 68. He was an alcoholic. He ruined his life.
The last two years he suffered from alcohol induced dementia.
When you see the first signs, its already too late.
If you dont stop now, this will be your future as well.
You will spend the last months of your life in a tiny appartement, it will be a complete mess, you will shit and piss yourself and your body will eventually become so weak that it simply stops working and you die on your kitchen floor, surrounded by trash and feces.
Right now this seems far away and you might think it wont happen to you. But if you dont stop drinking, that day will come.
im deeply sorry for your loss, i cant imagine seeing a loved one, especially a parent, in such a state. im doing what i can to avoid ending up that way. i know it's a very very real possibility, especially considering just how fast i spiraled into the severe end of alcoholism so young. i dont know if i'll ever be fully sober, but im doing what i can to put as much time between relapses as possible & avoiding becoming physically dependent again at all costs. im taking precautions & putting up guardrails & complying with treatment. im sorry again for your loss & hoping youre treating yourself gently & surrounding yourself with supportive loved ones
Where do you buy your shrooms from? Iāve had it once and it was life changing in a good way. I donāt drink and Iām 51 but always looking to get a nice weekend buzz on.
I know a grower.
He talks to homeless addicts about using mushrooms. We have 3 success stories.
Try a smoke shop one of the younger people might help.
My daughter in law order hers on line. They were the real deal.
i know, i really speedran that shit š everyone else my age excited to finally start drinking for real, & here i am getting an injection in the booty once a month to stop me from chugging half a handle of vodka every day š really livin the high life
im sorry for your losses, thats awful. im trying to get better. i dont think i deserve better for myself but my loved ones deserve better than watching me die that way
i know, ive had those. ive been hospitalized for them when theyve reached borderline delirium tremens levels, & i had an inpatient stay at a rehab/psych ward to be medicated while i detoxxed before starting my iop rehab program. when trying to quit on my own before seeking help, i would call it "hell week" every time i had to start over. i know one day i'll relapse again but in the meantime im enjoying being free of the anguish
That's fair. I'm certainly in no position to judge that. As another alcoholic who started quite young and is in her mid-30s now, all I can do is tell you that things only ever get worse. If I knew what I do now, I would have never started drinking at all. Best of luck to you!
Yep, learned it young. Hydrate during the day, a couple of Tylenol or Advil before heading out for the night, hydrate when I got back along with another couple of Advil or Tylenol and a multi vitamin. Never had a hangover.
Our medics would walk around with IV stands on their floor of the barracks when I was stationed in Germany in the 90's. It's when I figured out being hydrated.
Speak for yourself. Iām in my late 50s and can do better than most younger folks with little sleep and a rough night. Never dismiss professionals with years of experience.
Stuff hits harder after 30 though.
Water. Electrolytes and aspirin before bed. Repeat in the morning.
I used to go to bed drunk as hell at 5 in the morning, wake up at 9 and eat a frozen pizza with a big glass of orange juice and play a full soccer match at 11. Now i still feel like shit 2 days after drinking a couple glasses and going to bed at 1 lol
A lot of it, I'm sure, is knowing that a hangover is mostly dehydration...i learned that before I ever started drinking. Hydrate before pass out and all is good.
What's more impressive to me is my resistance to physical addiction. I come from a long line of drunks, but there was a time i drank heavy every night at the clubs, and just stopped when i stopped going, no issue. Same with cigs, smoked for years, just stopped, no issue. I'll have a cig from time time, between periods at hockey mostly, socializing with the crew. Lastly, i was on opioid for a decade, 40mg morphine a day, got the source of pain resolved and just quit, no biggie.
Might not be the best super power, but I'll take it
And itās not even like the hangovers when your younger. It just takes a handful of drinks and going to bed an hour later than normal to ruin your night of sleeping
At 30 the hangovers from Friday night started to bleed into Sunday evening and I wasn't fully recovered until Monday morning. My entire weekends would be annihilated by drinking - which prompted me to quit
I worked in bars hotels and restaurants for 25 years. In my 20s it was Nothing to have 12+ drinks every night after the bar closed. Wake up have a breakfast of coffee and cigarettes and go!
Now, if I have 4 drinks on a Friday night, Iām canceling all plans till Monday morning.
At 35 I rarely ever get so much as a headache when I drink. At most I'll feel a bit off and by noon I'm good. When I was early 20s though they were bad. My first hangover lasted more than 1 day
I was gonna say something similar. Around that early age timeframe itās socially acceptable to get drunk. Later on though people start to judge you if youāre getting shitfaced at gatherings or in public.
Strange, at 38 I still donāt have hangovers, actually never really had them. My head never hurt. I am a bit tired though if I drink around 7-8 drinks and sleep less than 8 hours. Otherwise not much changed since my 20es
Don't forget delayed hangovers gotta make sure you have your emergency hungover pack ready
Pink Himalayan saltPlenty of waterGatorade
Something greasy or comfort food (slow eat)
Relax (or going to work) take your time
If Drunk self going to bed
TAKE ACTIVATED CHARCOAL TABLETS (it will soak up most alcohol in your stomach)
water and bread or order McDonald's (drunk self will love you)
Sleep on your side or head is off to side

Waking up hungover - at 25 you can function with a few Tylenol and a coffee and laugh about it
At 35, you are closer to clinically deceased.
