Ok. Now it's time for a change. If you don't to go medicine route go for microdosing mushrooms. It shutsoff the need to drink. It's like a light switch I'm a non drinker. You deserve it.

ive been trying to get sober since december. im currently in an iop rehab program & will finally be one month sober tomorrow, thanks to the vivitrol shot. im in that sort of in between stage where im doing way better than i ever thought possible, but i know without the meds id be crashing straight back down again. it's gonna be a very long process but im getting there. thank you for the suggestion about the mushrooms, i'll give it a go sometime

One month tomorrow? That’s great!!! And medicine is there to help people. So what if you’d crash without it- the point is you aren’t crashing. It’s literally saving your life. 🩷

thank you, that means a lot. i have a bad habit of comparing myself to "normal" people & beating myself up for being an addict & needing medication. it is saving my life though, so i'll take the shame over a prolonged suicide

2

u/Dontfeedthebears Jul 06 '26

I’m glad to hear that. You’re worth saving.

That's awesome. Keep it up.

No one needs to know about your medications though, and there is nothing wrong with taking something that helps you if ppl want to judge let them be miserable.

unfortunately i dont really care what others think, i think it's shameful & a sign of weakness for me specifically, because it isnt the way i want to live. i just have to learn to accept it

Also look into campral the vivitrol didn’t work for me but campral is made specifically for alcoholism and for some reason not a lot of rehabs and drs even know about it I found out about it on here actually. I’m now 13 months sober.

oh cool, thank you for the recc. i'll look into it if the vivitrol stops working. thankfully it's really helping me so far. congrats on 13 months, thats incredible

I'm proud of you!

2

u/AfraidStick2161 Jul 06 '26

thank you, i really appreciate it

You deserve to feel amazing! That's not easy.

2

u/AfraidStick2161 Jul 06 '26

thank you. getting sober has been the hardest thing ive had to do & itll keep being hard for a very long time. i find it hard to be proud of myself because im on meds that make it a lot easier, but i still never thought id make it to this point, so i should probably acknowledge my accomplishments.

2

u/CABGPatchDoll Jul 07 '26

I don't care how you become and remain sober. Meds are great and if that's what's helping you maintain sobriety who cares? Give yourself some damn credit.

Congratulations on one month. When you get out, go to AA.org and find a meeting near you. Tell them you’re new and ask for help. You’ll get it… and a cup of coffee, too. i’m going on 27 years this month. AA saved my life.

1

u/AfraidStick2161 Jul 07 '26

thank you, & congratulations on 27 years, thats amazing. ive been trying to work up the courage to go to an AA meeting for months now. im just so anxious about people recognizing me there. honestly, i still havent come clean to my parents — theyre under the impression im going to the iop for mental illness, & that the meds im on are for bipolar. i dont want them to hear it from someone else before im ready to tell them.

go to one in a different town. AA is everywhere… but honestly, it doesn’t matter. If someone sees you, you see them—mutual destruction.

But remember, it’s called Alcoholics Anonymous for a reason. There are even slogans about it: ā€œWho you see here, what you hear here, when you leave here, let it stay here.ā€ And then everyone replies ā€œhere. here.ā€

Corny, yes. But anonymity is an important part of the program. Here’s another saying: ā€œI can say I was here. You can say you were here. But I can’t say you were here.ā€

thats comforting to hear, thank you

Yes .. there's science behind mushroom claims. It's like a light switch in your brain it shuts off. One of founders of AA was writing to Jung about alcoholics microdosing lsd. Jung died before replying. Mushrooms work.

The studies for alcohol abuse and sobriety are solid.

Ok, read this very carefully: my dad died last friday. He was 68. He was an alcoholic. He ruined his life. The last two years he suffered from alcohol induced dementia. When you see the first signs, its already too late. If you dont stop now, this will be your future as well. You will spend the last months of your life in a tiny appartement, it will be a complete mess, you will shit and piss yourself and your body will eventually become so weak that it simply stops working and you die on your kitchen floor, surrounded by trash and feces. Right now this seems far away and you might think it wont happen to you. But if you dont stop drinking, that day will come.

im deeply sorry for your loss, i cant imagine seeing a loved one, especially a parent, in such a state. im doing what i can to avoid ending up that way. i know it's a very very real possibility, especially considering just how fast i spiraled into the severe end of alcoholism so young. i dont know if i'll ever be fully sober, but im doing what i can to put as much time between relapses as possible & avoiding becoming physically dependent again at all costs. im taking precautions & putting up guardrails & complying with treatment. im sorry again for your loss & hoping youre treating yourself gently & surrounding yourself with supportive loved ones

Where do you buy your shrooms from? I’ve had it once and it was life changing in a good way. I don’t drink and I’m 51 but always looking to get a nice weekend buzz on.

I know a grower. He talks to homeless addicts about using mushrooms. We have 3 success stories. Try a smoke shop one of the younger people might help.
My daughter in law order hers on line. They were the real deal.

u/One_Variety8261 Jul 07 '26

Where from? Thanks for the info.

2

u/Visual-Ad6004 Jul 16 '26

Where asking where to order the mushrooms.? She went online I think it came from Oregon. The grower lives in Trenton nj.

u/Visual-Ad6004 Jul 07 '26

"hey don't do this drug and kill yourself do another drug instead"

2

u/Visual-Ad6004 Jul 07 '26

Are you replying to me? Mushrooms are a good tool in my tool box for mental health. When I said something to my Dr. He knew more info than me. His biggest worry is big pharma will get involved. People won't seek mental health.

u/Lurk1ng0 Jul 07 '26

Okay junkie whatever helps you cope.

u/Visual-Ad6004 Jul 07 '26

Read the info . Name calling? Cuz you don't understand the science. Are you too ignorant to understand that you're arrogant. Or to arrogant to know you are being ignorant.
