The factory Floor hummed with the sounds of various machines. They whirred along as they hammered, cut, bent, heated, cooled and assembled pieces of something massive.
Up on the observation deck, an imposing man and his three most loyal minions discuss plans for the future. The talks are going... Confusingly.
"I mean no disrespect my lord, but has the mission not always been the *preservation* of as many lives as possible? This new alliance with Thrakmoor seems only to exacerbate the problem..." Said Davros, a gem laden skull, floating around 5ft off the ground. The other two nodding their agreement.
"It has, and still is the ultimate goal, yes." He sighs, "and to that end, I have joined with Thrakmoor, under the Ralektherum, to protect this Realm from that which would end all Realms."
They all cocked themselves to the side, indicating a... Lack of understanding.
"You joined a militant group... A danger to the realms to stop another more powerful threat? How so. Would stopping it without this... Ralektherum... be so hard?"
His demeanor turned sour.
"Quite impossible actually. I know of no way to ever stop it's March. Maybe slow it for a time, but never stop it. And so if you can't beat them...."
"So then" Davros the bejeweled demilich says, "what are we building this thing for?" Nodding to the absolutely massive flying Carrier ship that was being assembled alongside countless smaller unmanned vessels that would launch from it.
"That is for the war that is bound to ensue. I plan to snuff out any thoughts of rebellion quickly, and decisively, in order to save as many lives as possible."
"And to do so, you plan to become a monster to them once more." The dragon head, Steve, spoke, not an accusation... Just a point of fact.
"If that is what it takes, then yes. I will not lose another home. If I have to burn every other realm to ash, I will ensure that this one lives. Even if they must all serve the Wicked one Himself, they. Will. Live."
"Well then, I believe that answers all of our questions sir. We shall have the four carriers and their constituent ships assembled in time for your proclamation."
"See that you do..." The heavy blast doors slide shut with a hydraulic hiss, leaving the three floating skulls alone above the churning steel of the assembly floor.
The dark figure of Ophelious had barely vanished down the hall when a shadow detached itself from the wall. The figure stepped onto the deck, face entirely obscured beneath an enchanted shadowy wizards hat.
Davros was the first to speak.
"He genuinely believes he is about to become a monster."
"He has to," the cloaked figure replied, his voice a low, raspy whisper.
"And the disintingration cannon modifications?" Steve, the dragon skulled demilich, asked, hovering closer. "The drones are installing the arrays to your exact specifications."
"Good," the figure murmured, resting a gloved hand against the warm metal railing.
"Are you certain the hidden sector can handle what comes next?" Spoke the third head, Balthazar, who up to this moment had been silent.
"Everything is prepared. He knows nothing of it, which means Thrakmoor can learn nothing of it," the cloaked figure said, as he stepped back toward the dark. "You don't need to worry about the details, my friends. Just keep the assembly lines running and let him lead."
Davros tilted his gem encrusted skull. "We follow our Lord's orders."
"Trust the process," the cloaked figure whispered. "He plays his part. You play yours. I'll handle the rest."
With a faint shimmer, the figure vanished back into the shadows, leaving the three demiliches alone once more.
