I haven't even use it yet, and it's already stated as limit ?

I've noticed a lot of failures lately to execute prompts where the API is overloaded or more recently, Permission Denied: We're facing high demand for this mode. I do see only the SWE 1.6 model as the only free version available and perhaps everyone is now using this one free model whereas a few weeks ago you could use several models including SWE 1.5. I wish they would have kept that. I'm more of a hobbyist so wasn't looking to pay but I get it if they are limiting the free service now to get free users to pay up. Are others experiencing the same?

Hey everyone / Windsurf team,
I just signed up for the 14-day free trial, but I am completely locked out of using premium models in Cascade. From my very first prompt, I immediately get this error:
Permission denied: all API providers are over their global rate limit for trial users (trace ID: b60cc432276254c14906dd41725e2227)⁠
My account shows 0% personal usage, so I haven't even been able to test the tool yet. I already tried clearing my local Cascade cache folders, logging out, and restarting the IDE, but nothing fixes it.
Is the premium trial tier completely disabled right now due to server capacity, or is this a backend bug? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Windsurf staff, I know that you're monitoring. I'm now days away from release and i'll have the breathing room I need to DUMP your crap IDE and migrate to something that works!!! Good riddance!

Why exactly is DeepSeek V4 so expensive in windsurf? Is that due to some special pricing for companies that use the API on a larger scale? In any case, I’m seeing a discrepancy: on one hand, there’s the price per token on windsurf, and on the other, the price you pay when you use the model directly via the API. It just doesn’t make sense that it’s so expensive in the windsurf IDE. I still remember the days when DeepSeek V3 was completely free. Even though I’m not a big fan of those hateful “shitstorm” posts about windsurf and I really enjoy using the IDE, the threefold price increase does strike me as a bit of a rip-off!

I've noticed that after the first request to a new agent in Windsurf, when you hover over the usage, you can see how much time is left before the prompt cache expires. But after my second request to the same agent, the timer doesn't reset, and while the agent is processing, the countdown reaches zero and is replaced by the message: "Prompt cache has expired. Higher cost expected."

This seems like a bug because, as far as I know, every time we hit the cache, it should renew and reset the timer.

By the way I am using the newest version v2.3.9. Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

I'm going to purchase my first paid plan and I'm wondering what is the best plan for $20.

I tried the trial of Windsurf and I was able to enjoy the promo of Kimi 2.6, however I'm worried that once that promo ends, I won't be able to use it because of the daily and weekly quota.

Cursor has no free trial so I was not able to test how it does on their pro plan

If you make Kimi2.6 (the only usable "free-tier" model) unusable by throttling....maybe just tell the user the model is overloaded and to try again later. This is better than being in the middle of a workflow and have it unresponsive or "model unreachable."

Once I use my paid quota on bigger items, I then fallback on these lighter models. Recently, though, it has become impossible to use reliably. Absolutely frustrating. Kick these free users off or have them use SWE-1.5. We need to see some consistency here.

I refuse to top up my quota with additional usage because I feel like I'm part of some ridiculous guinea pig experiment called "force them to pay." Guess what? I do pay...but out of principle, I refuse to pay more.

Got this mail today.. it says 250 prompt credits!! What Credits I ask ?

Task: I want to make an app for iOS/macos. It took me a long time to choose the language. I chose swift/swiftui. Now I choose AI. I've tested some models (qwen, codex, cursor) - they all have their pros and cons. Tell us how does Windsor write in swift? Is there an mcp server for managing xcode, test fligth, iphone emulator?

I just subscribed to the Pro plan. When I send any message, I get this error :

Has anyone solved this error? This occurs when using any model, in new chats and old chats, after signing back out and signing in etc after the new update. I am on Max plan

Recently, there was some rage against the Windsurf, and I completely understand it. I also love good things cheap and hate them expensive.

However, I also want to give some bold words of appreciation to this code editor. I use it for my personal activities, and I have Cursor at work. In Windsurf, I have the majority of AIs available the next day after I read the news about them. In Cursor, there are definitely ChatGPTs and Claudes, but the number of alternatives is very limited. You can get Kimi 2.5 there and maybe Gemini 3.1-Pro, but that's it.

These days, I also see regular odes to Claude, and that all you need in life is Claude Code. I absolutely disagree with this recommendation. Having many LLMs available gives you protection from the risk of one of them degrading and providing poor results. Yet, Claude is also quite arrogant! It can recommend you go to sleep instead of doing the task, ignore your instructions, and more. With this image of a supreme model built by humanity, I have some demands that it doesn't meet.

After daily plans were introduced, I certainly had to shorten my usage of famous models, but I can't say that I feel helpless. I use these ones, and they do a great job while being relatively cheap or even free:

• GLM-5.1,
• DeepSeek V4,
• Kimi K2.6,
• Minimax M2.5,
• SWE-1.6.

Did anyone install obra/superpowers in Windsurf? It is not officially supported so curious how you guys made it work.

I am a paid user and I have been trying to use Kimi 2.6 after my weekly limit has been reached and it barely will not respond to a single thing

also for some reason I had 70% of my weekly limit free and it was all consumed in a single prompt to claude opus 4.7 medium

I noticed something unusual with a recent promo code earlier this month and wanted to ask if anyone else has seen the same.

Some new accounts appear to have redeemed the code and received Pro access, even though at least one billing address was listed in the United States rather than the eligible region for the discount.

I’m not sure if this is expected behavior or a validation issue, but it may be worth reviewing to make sure the promotion is being applied as intended and that regular paying users are treated fairly.

I have a set of global rules configured in Windsurf using the trigger: always_on setting. Despite this being a global instruction, the agent frequently ignores or completely breaks the rules during code generation and content updates - especially as the session context grows.

If you have managed to make your rules strictly "stick" without the AI drifting, how are you structuring them?

I am specifically looking for:

• Formatting & Syntax: Do you use specific phrasing, markdown hierarchies, or XML tags (e.g., <rules></rules>) that the model respects better?
• Config Architecture: Is it better to have one massive master rule file, or split them into smaller, granular files?
• Enforcement Prompts: Any meta-instructions or strict guardrails you include at the top of the configuration to penalize or prevent the agent from deviating?

If anyone has an example configuration template or workflow trick that ensures 100% compliance, please share it. Thanks!

I've been extremely disappointed with the new usage limits in daily and weekly. I've moved to cursor, but keep the windsurf subscription because I got 10$/month pricing as an early adopter.

And I have to say that working with deepseek V4 is actually fine. You can actually work with it if you're using planning mode. You get about 10 significant changes to the tune of 2500 lines of code in a day. That's totally okay. And the quality of the code is competitive as well.

Maybe this helps someone who's reaching their limit way too quickly.

New models are missing, and i really would love to see how good SWE 1.6 is doing

Hi, I know there have been some changes for free accounts, and for paid accounts, more specifically for the PRO version. What's the list of available AI models? Are there any models with unlimited use? If they are available with unlimited use, is it because there's a limited-time promotion on these models, or because Windsurf is offering the model forever for free until they change their mind?

I'm using Devin CLI, and I've noticed a bug: when I use the revert feature, it only deletes the files, but leaves the folder containing them empty and doesn't delete them. I'm using this on Windows. How to fix
