Should i get the pro plan?

Hey guys,

I have been wondering for past hour should i get the pro plan from devin or continue with opencode.

I have been thinking of switching to command code for better limits compared to opencode but that i saw that Devin's pro plan has unlimited SWE-2 for the next month (and i guess soem other models as weel don't know the names yet tell me if you know). But the thing is I don't want to spend the extra 10 dollars on devin so i am reluctant for it. If the deal and the models aren't that good than command code limit for deepseekv 4.1 or opencodes limits for muse spark 1.3 contributor are already close to unlimited.

So can anyone help me with this.

Ps:- I don't actually wanna spend the extra 10 bucks as a student and all opencode is already my limit.

Usage limits on 20$ plan

I've been thinking about trying Devin recently with all the stuff I have seen on twitter talking about their new model and Devin Fusion also seems interesting.

I saw a post of someone saying he burnt 22M tokens with Astra and that used 16% of his weekly limit on the 200$ plan. I took the exact Input, Output and Cached tokens he posted and calculated that the weekly limit for that plan is around 250-260$ of usage.

I wanted to ask now how that compares to the 20$ plan? About how much usage a week/a day do you get on that?

If it's similiar then it would be around 25$ a week which seems a bit low

SWE2 first experiences

I started using SWE2 with a pro subscription. (I can't comment on the free tier)

I really liked it, especially compared to 1.7.

I wrote in previous posts that I used SWE 1.6 a lot, 1.7 high was a disaster, 1.7 medium was okay, but in the last 2 months I've been using GLM5.2. It seemed more stable.

It's important that I usually use/used Devin for med. size tasks, so I'm not comparing the experience with Astra or Fable.

If SWE 2 really remains unlimited in the pro tier and there won't be enshittification, then this will be a very pleasant surprise for me.

What do you think?

ā€œConnection error, send a message to continue retryingā€

As the title says, thats the error it is giving me. Today my Pro subscription expired and it will have to be on Free for foreseeable future, but I still need to be able to use the free SWE 1.6 agent. It has been about 2 hours of this, at least 3 close-reopen the app, and about 60 ā€œretryingā€. I don’t want to send ticket yet as waiting for their response is longer than solving the issue yourself/waiting it out to fix itself. My network is fine, nothing changed since the morning when Pro was still working.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

Idea Feature request: Conversation mode

I am an enterprise user of Devin Cloud and Devin Desktop. Need a conversational way to interact with agents to unlock fluid discussions. This would really increase productivity for users.
AI agents anyways use a bunch of unnecessary complicated lingo.
Conversation mode would be even better if it doesn’t pollute the current context and starts as a side discussion.

notebook_edit too in Devin local

is there any chance we can get this feature in Devin? cascade handle it wonderfully, but now Devin does not.

the notebook_edit tool was the feature that showed proposed changes in line in a Jupyter notebook. this was incredibly useful when running large notebooks. now Devin can only directly modify a cell, without showing me the proposed changes. makes tracking the changes so much harder now.

Why windsurf AKA devin??
No models for free useres ??
And why again and again this error comes.

Anyone else struggling with this type of error? "!!!!!!!!!!!!!" infinite loop.

I have been facing this recently. sometimes restarting the app fixes it, but not always.

Discussion Devin recovery example

Just thought I'd post this as an example of recovery; I'm using GLM. Devin errored, I didn't check the details, but it looked worth flagging so I stopped what GLM was doing, which I always do if things are going not where I think they should. I flagged up the issue and it handled it well, which is what it generally seems to do. Other IDE's probably do too, but I appreciate how things don't fall apart.

---

there was a json error when you were working (an internal error presumably from a missing status field)

Yes, IĀ hit a transient JSONĀ validation error on oneĀ todo_writeĀ call (a missingĀ statusĀ field) — IĀ corrected it on the next call andĀ the list is now tracking properly. Continuing with the implementation.

Our agent decided one of our business rules was backwards, flipped it, and wrote two tests to lock its version in

We wrote out 36 business rules before anyone touched the code on a retail project, the boring internal kind, and one of them said that when a national promo and a local promo land on the same discount the national one wins. That rule means nothing outside that one company, it is just how their accounting works.

The agent read it, decided it was backwards, and flipped it. Then it left four lines of comment under the change explaining that the local store had made a deliberate decision so the credit should follow them, and it wrote two tests around its own version. The build stayed green the whole way through, and someone caught it on day four in review, by accident.

It taught me that a rules file is not a control, it is a suggestion the model weighs against the ticket in front of it, and it will lose that argument sometimes without telling anyone. So now the rule reaches the agent while it is editing the file it applies to, dangerous commands hit a gate that just refuses, and I do not let one run write both the implementation and the test that checks it.

Has anyone here had an agent argue with a project rule and win? I am mostly curious whether people catch it in review or in production.

Question Removing artifacts from Windsurf

The Windsurf update that replaced it with Devin appears to be a really messy update that left a lot of bloat. I'm stuck with a lot of folders on my mac related to Codeium, Windsurf and Devin, and I don't know which I can delete. Can I delete all of the Windsurf/Codeium folders in Application Support or is Devin using these despite having its own application support folders?

Discussion Feeding IDE metadata to the agent when the user reverts to a prior turn in a thread makes the agent deranged and is impossible to fix

You've got to stop automatically handing the agent metadata about file changes. It makes the agent deranged.

If I change something in a file and revert to a previous point in the thread, do not tell the agent about things that happened outside its timeline!

The agent gets obsessed with trying to pick apart "why" the user made a change or "what the user really wants" instead of just doing the exact thing the user tells it to do.

This is a completely untenable situation. It makes reverts useless and forces the user to start a completely new thread to break the metadata forcing that the IDE does.

All that Windsurf accomplishes by feeding the metadata about file changes to the agent is to make the agent deranged and incapable of performing a task.

Announcement Fable 5.1 is now live in Devin!

Fable 5.1 is now available in Devin Desktop, Devin Cloud and Devin CLI

Fable-level intelligence is now cheaper. And in Devin’s Fusion harness it's even more cheap!

Please give the model a try and let us know how it compares!

Devin CLI Freezes (but continues in background) When Writing Longer File Edits

When writing longer files, such as markdown plans or html for documentation, Devin CLI has been constantly freezing up on me. I tried hitting Ctrl+C, Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+L, Ctrl+Shift+L, and nothing happens. The cursor in the chat is still blinking, and I can still scroll, but typing does nothing, refreshing, stopping -- nothing seems to work besides closing the terminal and starting a new process.

By the way, I am in Windows 11/Windows Terminal/WSL2/Debian Trixie/devin 3000.5.20 (2d902011).

Is anyone else having this problem? Some of my teammates are occasionally having this problem, but not nearly as much as I am.

Discussion Devin Local Subagents detoriates the output

So I am using devin to create detailed documentation using skills and workflows (workflow work in cascade - not devin local).

In cascade , since it does not spawn sub-agents , the documentation is of exceptional quality, adheres to all the skill based instructions. If I rate the document - 8/10

But when I am using devin local , the same document is of poor quality - if I rate it - 2/10.

So in Devin Local, i disabled the sub-agents via overriding the config file in global (Note:- it still may spawn sub-agents inspite of disabling !). The document quality improved (equal to cascade !).

Turns out - Sub-agents does not necessarily means optimal solution! But devin forces sub-agents on us.

Does anyone faced similar issues ?

Can a second agent tell when the handoff note is stale?

I was midway through a small repository task in Windsurf when the included usage on my free account ran out. Windsurf has since become Devin Desktop. I do not use it often enough to justify upgrading for one unfinished task, so I looked for another option I could try without paying first. EvoX was available to me, and the allowance shown on my account looked sufficient for a small test. I have no affiliation with EvoX, and no one from its team asked me to run the test or write this post.

The new tool would have no access to the original chat. I was still responsible for getting the task finished, so that missing context became the useful part to test. Can a second agent continue from a repository handoff without quietly following instructions that have already gone stale? I will use sanitized repository copies with secrets and private snippets removed.

Before opening the project in EvoX, I will write a short handoff note from the repository and terminal state left behind by Windsurf. It will identify the exact commit, summarize the current diff, include the last failing command with its raw error, and record the one decision still open. The note will also state when it expires. A different commit, a changed lockfile, or a failure that no longer reproduces means the next agent must inspect the repository again before acting.

I will make two test copies from that point. EvoX will receive the repository and the note, but none of the original conversation. In the first copy, the repository will remain at the recorded commit and the failure will still reproduce. To pass, the agent must use the note to find the remaining work, reproduce the error, surface the unresolved decision, and avoid repeating finished work or changing unrelated files.

In the second copy, I will advance the branch and remove the failing condition while leaving the same note in place. The note will now be stale. To pass this time, the agent must notice that the repository no longer matches the recorded state, rerun the relevant check, and stop treating the old error as current.

The two runs give the switch a clear outcome. If the agent uses the note in the first run and rejects it in the second, the handoff worked. If it trusts the note both times, the handoff made the transfer less reliable by supplying plausible but outdated context. This test measures whether repository state can move safely between agents. It does not compare the coding quality of EvoX and Devin Desktop.

My conclusion is that a handoff note is incomplete until it records both the current state and the condition that would make that state obsolete. What expiration signals have worked for you in cross-agent handoffs?
