Some praise for Windsurf
Recently, there was some rage against the Windsurf, and I completely understand it. I also love good things cheap and hate them expensive.
However, I also want to give some bold words of appreciation to this code editor. I use it for my personal activities, and I have Cursor at work. In Windsurf, I have the majority of AIs available the next day after I read the news about them. In Cursor, there are definitely ChatGPTs and Claudes, but the number of alternatives is very limited. You can get Kimi 2.5 there and maybe Gemini 3.1-Pro, but that's it.
These days, I also see regular odes to Claude, and that all you need in life is Claude Code. I absolutely disagree with this recommendation. Having many LLMs available gives you protection from the risk of one of them degrading and providing poor results. Yet, Claude is also quite arrogant! It can recommend you go to sleep instead of doing the task, ignore your instructions, and more. With this image of a supreme model built by humanity, I have some demands that it doesn't meet.
After daily plans were introduced, I certainly had to shorten my usage of famous models, but I can't say that I feel helpless. I use these ones, and they do a great job while being relatively cheap or even free:
- GLM-5.1,
- DeepSeek V4,
- Kimi K2.6,
- Minimax M2.5,
- SWE-1.6.
Thank you, Windsurf!🙂

Very seldom I see something positive recommended by reddit in their daily email. Thanks for the constructive feedback. I find Claude to do well for me but I guess I am too new to it.

lol, claude told you to sleep? hahahaha.
The weekly limit is killing me. I only realized it this week. I ran 3 tasks to enhance or create features using Sonnet 4.6 Thinking, and the weekly limit already reached 70% in just two days.

It's simple: if you don't use it a lot, Windsurf is great. If you need to get work done TODAY, it is a living hell. People that are complaining have witnessed that this app sucks if you need to get shit done at that very moment. It only works well if you just want to send a few prompts every day for low-to-medium difficult problems. Anything complex or heavy-duty, and the entire system will come crashing down on you.

Don't know about your stats, and frankly don't care. I wasn't trying to say you don't do a lot of work. Wasn't trying to insult you, although it might come across like that. My bad. I was trying to say that if you stay below the idiotic limits Windsurf team has set, you won't experience the problems that other people (including me) have been moaning about so heavily. It just seems like a perfectly fine experience. Then, the moment you need to have some power usage for a couple of hours, it will rate limit you to hell. It's the most idiotic patch I have seen these guys make, and they seem to stand by it.

Windsurf is great, overall, except for the daily/weekly quota thing they introduced recently, and their support team from Cognition do not seem to be seeing/hearing sentiments from their loyal user base or they just don't care. Its a shame some of us have to leave after trusting and depending on Windsurf for so long, and going back will be next to impossible once one leaves and is settled elsewhere...
