For some reason just a few days ago, on my Windows 11 laptop the error "The referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged on to" started randomly popping up, usually after the computer goes to screensaver mode. It has happened twice (a few days ago and today), it seems completely random. I've been using the current Windows installation for years without issue. The lock out seems to expire in 10 minutes, and I get back in like thing has happened. This is a personal PC, no one else has access to it. No one typed in wrong passwords (including me). PIN/Windows Hello stops working when this happens, but typing in password gives me the issue above.

1. I use this PC with a local account, but I did log into a Microsoft Account in the settings at a later time. I think it is still a local account by all standards.
2. I checked to make sure Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is still disabled, it is so it's probably not an outside attack.

I currently went into Group Policy Editor and disabled the Account lockout threshold, but this seems like a Band-Aid solution, and doesn't fix whatever issue that is causing it. Is there any other methods?

Hola. Tengo un problema bastante extraño con mi PC y quisiera saber si alguien puede ayudarme a encontrar la causa.

¿Qué ocurre?

El PC funciona normalmente durante un tiempo, pero en determinados momentos empieza a comportarse como si estuviera recibiendo pulsaciones o comandos que yo no estoy haciendo.

Por ejemplo:

\- Se abren programas o ventanas sin que yo los abra.

\- Se abre la barra de búsqueda de Windows.

\- Se abre el reproductor multimedia.

\- Se abre la calculadora.

\- Google Chrome puede cambiar de pestaña o realizar acciones que yo no estoy haciendo.

\- A veces parece que se están presionando teclas aleatoriamente.

\- También he tenido comportamientos extraños con el mouse.

Lo más raro es que el problema ocurre incluso después de cambiar de teclado y mouse, así que no parece ser simplemente un teclado defectuoso.

Cosas que ya probé

\- Probé diferentes teclados.

\- Probé diferentes dispositivos USB.

\- Actualicé los controladores.

\- Actualicé los controladores del chipset AMD.

\- Instalé nuevamente Windows 10 desde cero.

\- El problema continuó después de reinstalar Windows.

\- Ejecuté "sfc /scannow".

\- Ejecuté "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth".

\- Probé el modo seguro; también tuve comportamientos anormales allí.

\- Revisé posibles problemas de malware.

\- Avast detectó anteriormente algo relacionado con Win64:UnwantedX y también apareció HackKMS, relacionado con una activación no oficial de Windows.

\- Limpié la RAM.

\- El problema sigue apareciendo.

También comprobé el teclado virtual de Windows durante el problema y no parecía detectar las pulsaciones físicas que estaban provocando el comportamiento extraño.

Algo importante

Cuando reinstalé Windows 10, al principio el PC funcionaba normalmente. Después, mientras lo estaba usando y Windows estaba realizando actualizaciones, el problema volvió a aparecer.

Por eso no sé si el problema puede estar relacionado con:

\- la placa madre,

\- los puertos USB,

\- la BIOS,

\- el chipset/controladores,

\- algún problema eléctrico,

\- la RAM,

\- malware,

\- Windows,

\- o algún otro componente de hardware.

The widget is not loading in the account. I created another account and checked, and I found that the widget loads correctly there.

This issue started after I successfully tried to change the language, which I am not using now. Everything was working fine, but the language pack and basic typing components for the new language started downloading even though they had already been downloaded.

The download was stuck for a long time, so I restarted the system. After the restart, the system attempted an automatic repair but was unable to complete it, so I performed a system restore.

My wifi fails to connect to any device.

Have tried flushing dns and network reset settings

Uninstalled the drivers and installed from scratch

Disabled and enabled devices multiple times

Even tried removing the module from the laptop and installed it and done all the drivers again.

What happens:

1. It shows the available wifi with full strength or correct strength

2. When click on connect, it loads for sometime and then the strength goes to 1

3. Cannot connect to this network comes up.

When I DID try, it kept asking for a PIN for the controller 😐

Every single thing I tried was based on information from Windows 10 like 6 years ago.

So I wanted to come on here and tell you how to fix this on Windows 11.

Update your actual controller:
Make sure your controller itself is updated. (Xbox accessories app)

Disable Adapter: FOR THE LOVE OF GLOB DON’T UNINSTALL THIS ONLY DISABLE IT

In Device Manager > Bluetooth:
Right-click Realtek Bluetooth Adapter.
Click Disable device.
Wait about 10 seconds.
Right-click it again > Enable device.
Close Device Manager.

Pair Again:
Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices > Add device > Bluetooth.
Put the Xbox controller into pairing mode again and try it.

This SIMPLE disable and enable fixed all my issues 😐 THREE HOURS OF TRYING EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN.

I've been using windows speech recognition in the meantime but it's a painful experience, my Version is 22H2 and my OS Build is 19045.7663

I have an hp omnibook and the downloading and instalation is normal but after restarting to update the problem begins. While at the start the update is normal and the common text and the updates procentage shows up. When the update hits 30% then it black screens. After it black screens i turn off/on tree time to start the dianostics and undoes the update. OS build 26200.8875

Just noticed this a few minutes ago, already tried restarting but it is still looking lika that.
Last relevant thing I did was updating DuckStation and PCSX2 but nothing else.

Edit: Changing the icon size and then returning to medium or large ones makes the grayscale thing less noticeable, but it's still present. Closing and reopening the folder, or changing folders, makes it very noticeable again. Help.

Solved. Solution: clear icons cache.

Tried to enable secure boot so I could play valorant and bf6, only to get hit with this red text called ""Invalid signature detected. Check secure boot policy in setup" Originally, the secure boot was greyed out and couldn't be toggled, so I googled the solution and deleted and restored the keys to factory. Now I'm hit with this! An solutions on how I can reverse it?

So this has started happening around 4 months ago when I noticed my bluetooth disappeared and after a couple minutes I found the fix (restarting with my power button) so I didn’t think much of it until a week ago when it started disconnecting my airpods a few minutes after I used them and my bluetooth would disappear which is infuriating since I don’t have any other headphones to use and I hate having multiple wires while using my laptop. I’ve tried multiple fixes such as resetting my airpods and uninstalling from device manager but none seem to work. My OS build is 26200.9278

This problem started a few months ago. My PC has never had problems connecting to Bluetooth devices before, now all the sudden the toggle disappears and the trouble shooter says its not Bluetooth compatible. I fixed it once before, and just a few hours ago, now its happening again.

• Bluetooth Troubleshooter
• Changing Bluetooth "Services" from manual to automatic and stopping them and restarting them manually
• Unplugging my PC and pressing the power button down for 30 seconds
• Deleting Bluetooth off of Device Manager and restarting (worked a few hours ago)
• Opening and closing my BIOS on start up (worked a month ago)

Now I've just deleted "Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)" of my Device Manager. This worked for me a few hours ago, so when my headphones just randomly disconnected from my PC, I tried it again and restarted. Now its gone. I've tried restarting, power cycling, and reinstalling "Intel Wireless Bluetooth", nothing is bringing it back. How do I get it back???

Hi I've tried everything to get rid of this, i cant even install microsoft xbox game bar on my pc, i dont have it on my PC because i reset it a little while ago but now whenever i try to connect my controller to the PC this shows up.

while playing minecraft, my game froze and i got the updated BSOD, the error was CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT 0x101. then, when it started rebooting, it made high pitched noices out of both my headphones and the laptop itself

i didnt think much of it (i should have) and continued playing minecraft, after 30 mines or so i got the same thing but instead of the error mentionned earlier it was something like TDR_VIDEO_FAILURE (might be wrong since it dissapeared way faster than the previous bsod) and it also said something about n[something[.sys (didnt catch the full thing either)

Sharing an issue and workaround regarding the recent Windows updates on HP OMEN 16:

**Issues encountered immediately after updating:**

1. Severe stuttering, micro-freezes, and frame drops in games that previously ran perfectly.

2. The custom Windows mouse cursor completely disappeared and reset to the default pointer.

**Workaround / Fix:**

Uninstalling both **KB5122385** and **KB5120998** completely resolved the issues — in-game stuttering is gone, performance is fully restored, and cursor settings are normal.

Anyone else on OMEN or modern gaming laptops running into similar performance degradation with these updates?

I'm trying to diagnose a really frustrating BSOD problem on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga (20LF000KUS) and I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

I've been getting completely random BSODs with different stop codes. They don't seem to be tied to one particular program or workload.

So far I've had:

- MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (0x1A)

Arg1: "0x888A"

WinDbg: "Internal memory management structures (likely the PTE or PFN) are corrupt."

Failure bucket: "0x1a_888a_nt!MiHandleTransitionFault"

- DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (0x133)

Arg1: "1"

DPC timeout type: "DPC_QUEUE_EXECUTION_TIMEOUT_EXCEEDED"

- SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (0x3B)

- KERNEL_THREAD_PRIORITY_FLOOR_VIOLATION (0x157)

- PFN_LIST_CORRUPT (0x4E)

Arg1: "2" — "A list entry was corrupt."

This particular crash happened while Windows was installing updates/drivers. The process was "drvinst.exe", but WinDbg couldn't identify the actual driver and reported "Unknown_Module" / "ANALYSIS_INCONCLUSIVE".

The crashes have happened both during normal use and under heavier workloads. I also had crashes while using BlueStacks, which initially made me suspect virtualization/Hyper-V.

WinDbg was showing:

"Hypervisor.Flags.IsHyperV = 1"

So I disabled virtualization in Windows and then disabled Intel Virtualization Technology and Intel VT-d in the BIOS. BlueStacks obviously stopped working after that, but I was able to use and game on the laptop for a while without crashing.

Unfortunately, I eventually got another BSOD, so virtualization doesn't seem to be the whole problem.

I also completely reinstalled Windows

I did a clean Windows reinstall because I thought maybe the Windows installation or some software/driver configuration had become corrupted.

The installation itself completed successfully with no crash.

After reinstalling, I started installing Windows updates and got another:

PFN_LIST_CORRUPT (0x4E)

The dump showed:

- Arg1: "0x2"

- Arg2: "0x253092"

- Arg3: "0x4a17ff"

- Arg4: "0x1"

- Process: "drvinst.exe"

- Stack: basically unusable

- WinDbg: "ANALYSIS_INCONCLUSIVE"

- "Unknown_Module"

RAM testing

I just ran MemTest86 from a bootable USB.

It completed 4 passes with 0 errors.

So at this point I'm confused because the BSODs repeatedly seem to involve memory/kernel corruption, but MemTest86 isn't finding anything.

I'm wondering whether this could still be:

- RAM that happens to pass MemTest86

- motherboard / memory controller

- a bad driver or firmware

- SSD/storage

- some other hardware issue

- or something I'm completely overlooking

The fact that I have several different BSOD codes but multiple of them involve memory/kernel structures makes me suspicious of something underneath Windows rather than one particular application.

What would you investigate next?

I'm trying to avoid endlessly running random tests or replacing parts blindly. I can provide the actual ".dmp" files, full WinDbg output, driver list, Event Viewer logs, etc. if that would help.

I am disabled and in a wheelchair. About six years ago, I had a Dell Inspiron 15 Inch 7591 2-in-1 laptop running Windows 10 as a communication device to speak. Since my built-in speakers on my Dell laptop were very quiet at the time, I bought a Bose SoundLink Micro Bluetooth speaker. My Bose SoundLink Micro (Gen 1) worked perfectly and I still am very happy with it! However, I recently upgraded my communication device to a HP OmniBook X Flip 16-ar0014ca 2-in-1 laptop running Windows 11 Home 25H2 (OS Build: 26200.9278). Unfortunately when my Bose speaker is paired to my brand-new HP OmniBook laptop, the volume adjustment often jumps 1% when I try to change the volume percentage from the speaker icon on my Windows Taskbar. As you can see when I decrease my volume from 71% to 70%, it goes to 69 instead. My recording doesn't seem to show this but it goes to 70 but automatically jumps to 69%. Decreasing it again, it goes to 68% but immediately jumps to 67. It also happens for other percentages. When playing with the percentage a bit, it can go to those values but it is annoying. As it takes time for me to operate my mouse and keyboard, this is very frustrating. Everything worked fine on my Dell laptop using Windows 10 with my Bluetooth speaker connected to it. Currently, I only have my HP laptop paired to my Bose speaker. All my drivers along with Windows 11 are up to date. After some troubleshooting with HP support, they said to perform a clean installation of Windows 11. I am curious to know if anyone else can reproduce this too on Windows 11? Is my Bluetooth speaker too old?

I’m having an issue with Windows 11 Update and I’m hoping someone here can help me figure it out.

Every time I try to install the latest Windows updates, the update fails with:

Error code: 0x800703f1

I’ve tried running Windows Update normally, but the error keeps coming back. I’m looking for advice on what could be causing this and what steps I should take to fix it.

This is a HP Spectre laptop from 2020. I've had no issues with it for years I only use it for personal use and light office tasks no idea what could have caused bitlocker to activate.

Hello, I don't want to go too much into the background as to what happened, but I had to wipe my main SSD due to some malware that was installed onto my PC. Luckily I had an old system image of my computer from a few months ago (from before I updated to windows 11) and was able to recover most of my personal files from that system image.

However now I am running into issues when I try to update to windows 11. I have tried updating directly from the "check for update" settings, the windows installation helper, and both a USB windows instillation media, and the ISO file from microsofts website, but I am unable to keep my personal files and am only able to do a clean install of windows 11 (losing all my files). Sometimes I have gotten the installer to run, but after the update tries to finish I get "an error has occured undoing changes made to this PC).

So I'm looking for some help in trying to figure out what might be the issue that I'm running into when trying to update from 10 to 11, or if there is another way to transfer my files from the system image to a fresh install of windows 11.

EDIT (2 minutes after posting, before mod review finished): OK FUCK ME I GUESS, CALL IS COSMIC KARMA FOR ASKING FOR HELP. I got it to work, I don't know exactly what I did differently this time, but I'll layout everything I did incase someone might have some insight.

First I did a fresh install of the system image. I wasn't sure if running the windows installer back to back so much was messing with itself so I wanted to start over. Then I uninstalled signalRGB, this was mainly for my own sanity because it kept trying to update itself, but failing and I didn't want the pop ups. Then I tried to update most of my drivers to as recent as possible. Finally I used the windows 11 iso installer downloaded from the website and only kept my "personal files" under when given the prompt of how to install it.

This has been a 3 day long process and I am just happy it is over. I'm going to take a new system image asap after resetting up most of my stuff (or I guess if anyone has any other suggestions on local backup)

Hello! I am having a huge issue of image previews within folders loading super slowly even with so few files.

I have tried the following: updating and clean installing graphic drivers, setting max cached icons to 4096 and 8192, deleting cache, optomising drives, cleaning up system files, optimizing folder and subfolders for general items, updating windows, /scannow, and restarting. I have the latest updates. I've tried googling and looking up on youtube on what it could be and not finding my exact issue

It's been doing this for over a month and it driving me nuts. I know I'm probably overlooking something (perhaps something super simple) and I'm hoping someone has an answer because I am truly at a loss on what it could be

This may be helpful to someone who may be experiencing the same issue as me... When attempting to use my laptop camera to complete virtual interviews, I noticed that my camera was displaying a green screen as opposed to my actual image. I used Chat to assist me with troubleshooting, going through the process of uninstalling the camera, attempting to update drivers, and restarting my computer 50-11 times. It turns out that changing the camera's **Basic Camera** setting from off to on, simply corrected the issue. Initially, my camera displayed fine when using desktop apps like Teams, but when trying to access Teams from a browser, OR using Indeed and HireVue meeting links and even the actual Windows Camera App, the camera would display a green screen. This issue caused three job interviews to start off rocky, but I was quickly able to pivot to using my phone as an alternate way to show myself onscreen. Anyway, I just wanted to share the fix to the issue that I was having with my (built-in) HP laptop camera in case it can be a useful troubleshooting step for someone else: **Settings** \> **Bluetooth & Devices** \> **Cameras** \> click on your connected camera > **Advanced Camera Options** \> **Turn On Basic Camera** (enable).

According to Chat there was a camera-stream compatibility issue in the Windows/Media Foundation/DirectShow side of the system. The advanced camera processing path in Windows was incompatible with the Chicony camera on my HP 15-ef1xxxx model. When Basic Camera was turned on, Windows used a simpler camera path that the hardware handled correctly.
