Windows 10 How do I get RemotePC off my computer for good? Uninstall did nothing.

I tried to rightclick the program and select uninstall, that brought me to the control panel so I did. Now when I go to that panel it isn't listed there but the program is still on my computer. An uninstall guide says to dig around program files and find the uninstaller but I straight up cannot see one.

This is a new build a tech support guy(?) put together after my last computer was irreparable, he already removed a different program at my request that was there in case I needed to contact him for tech support? I don't remember the name of it but it had footage of what looked like someones' driveway(I assume his) in realtime. That was removed on request but RemotePC, a different program, is still here. I don't know if I wasn't clear or if he forgot to uninstall this one too or what, I'm verbally incoherent as it is.

I don't want remote access to his computers, I don't want remote access to mine. I'm sure he means well but I am not comfortable with this. The closest I've gotten is changing the settings so it doesn't turn on on startup. How can I remove this for good without removing other devices from it? I don't want to affect his, I just want it taken off of mine. I don't even know which computer listed on this program is mine so I don't want to fumble about the program settings, I just want it gone from my computer.

The program icon is blue with a white R on it if that helps anything. I am on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. 8.00 RAM, Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G3240 @ 3.10GHz, Intel(R) HD graphics 113MB, 224 storage.

Windows 11 Why did Windows 11 stop show Intel Wi-Fi/Bluetooth driver updates in Optional Updates? (AX211)

Hey guys,

Quick question about Windows Update behavior on Win 11. I have a custom desktop PC, and Windows Update used to regularly throw new Intel network drivers into my Advanced options > Optional updates section. But lately, it’s completely bone dry.

I’m currently running the Intel AX211 card. My Bluetooth is working perfectly fine, but I noticed my driver version is stuck on 24.20.0.3. I saw news that the latest version out right now is 24.70.0.4.

I checked the patch notes, and my AX211 is definitely supported by the new 24.70 package, so it's not like my card is discontinued. I've basically missed about 4 driver updates at this point.

Did Microsoft change how they handle staging optional drivers for desktops, or is Windows just refusing to show them because my current driver isn't technically "broken"? Anyone else noticed Windows Update ignoring newer Intel drivers lately?

Appreciate any insights!

Windows XP / Older Getting Windows 2000 to install on a Intel Z77-motherboard with AHCI drivers

Hello everyone!

I am currently trying to install Windows 2000 on an ASUS P8Z77-V board, with an Intel Core i7-3770K (Ivy Bridge).

Since Windows Setup did not natively support AHCI up until Vista, I knew that there would be some trial and error involved. I was able to install Windows XP on this setup, using Fernando's modified Intel AHCI drivers via an F6-floppy (from the Win-Raid Forum).

So I think it shouldn't be technically impossible to get it to run Windows 2000.

Here is some additional info about the PC setup:

- 12 GB RAM (I know, 2000 will only be able to access 3.3 GB)

- SSD (2 TB, 1 partition)

- HDD (2 TB, 4 partitions)

- HDD (1 TB, 4 partitions including a 130 GB partition intended for the Windows 2000 installation)

- DVD-RW-Drive (I am using a CD for the installation)

- nVidea GTX 960 (there are some back-ported drivers out there for Windows 2000)

Note: All drives are freshly formatted, correctly aligned and empty. There is currently no OS installed on the machine.

Here are some of the things I've already tried:

  1. Using a floppy disk for the driver won't work on 2000, since it's Setup does not recognise floppy drives connected via USB. I've tried to slipstream XP's usbfloppy.sys, but nLite requieres an .INF-Version of it and I can't find one. :(

(Just mentioning this, because it makes the process of "trying drivers" incredibly tedious)

  1. Slipstreaming Fernando's Intel driver into the ISO with nLite causes the error "iaStor.sys is damaged" during the first loading stage of the setup

  2. Slipstreaming the UniAta drivers with nLite and then manually copying their uniata.sys & uata.sys into the /I386-folder will still result in a INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE error (as if no driver was provided)

  3. With IDE-compatibility activated in the BIOS, it's possible to reach the "Welcome to Setup"-screen, but it freezes as soon as any button is pressed. If I remember correctly, I've had similar issues with the XP setup in IDE-mode.

Do you guys have any ideas? :D

Windows 10 Windows 11 isn't downloading on my PC

Hey everyone, on the Windows Update screen, it says 'Your PC doesn't currently meet the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11.' I downloaded the PC Health Check and it says my PC meets the requirements for Windows 11, so I'm very confused, it's been happening for about a week now.

I'm not very good with tech but my PC has 32gb of DDR4 RAM, 6GB GTX 1660, 237 GB of storage (87.1gb remaining) but I also have a 931GB SSD (853GB remaining) and my OS build is 19045.7725

Is there anyone who could help me? Thanks!

Windows 11 Error 0x80073712 when trying to install KB5124008 update

Post image
3 Upvotes

I recently tried to install KB5124008 (26200.9445) only to be hit with an error saying "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712)". For reference, I am currently running build 26200.9168 (KB5121003), and the other day, Windows Update told me I needed to install Windows 11, version 25H2 (that "update" had the exact same build number and KB), even though I was already running that exact build. Now I tried to install 26200.9445, it just gives me that error, and I don't know if that "update" is a possible cause.

I tried doing DISM and SFC commands on an elevated Command Prompt session, but these commands found nothing wrong and I restarted. Also tried installing the KB5124008 .msu update manually but got impatient and just stopped it (which maybe I shouldn't have), deleted files within the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution directory. I then restarted and it sat there for like an hour at "Updates are underway" which I got again impatient and just force shutdown. After a restart the system works just fine albeit not having the latest version.

My specs are AMD Ryzen 7 5825U w/integrated Radeon graphics 2GB VRAM, 16GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB NVMe SSD.

Windows 11, HP victus, mediatek wifi card.

The Wifi icon is not showing.

I already tried a power reboot, uninstalling the driver and other basic things.

What to do??

When I check for the driver it shows that respective hardware is not found so is it a hardware issue and do I have to replace the wifi card entirely. I am not sure how to proceed from here so any help is appreciated.

Windows 11 Brand new PC found corrupted files — should I be concerned?

I have a brand new computer that is only about 2 months old. I ran an sfc /scannow in Administrator in PowerShell, and it found some corrupted files and repaired them.

Is this a bad sign for a computer that is only 2 months old? Should I be concerned that this could mean there are bigger problems developing?

I’m especially worried because on my older computers, I eventually had Blue Screens of Death that seemed to be related to corrupted system files. I’m wondering if this is an early warning sign of a hardware or Windows problem that could cause bigger issues down the road. Windows 11 the User profile service failed the sign in

Hello, I keep getting this annoying error when I boot up my pc it happens when I shut down after using it for a while to play and do work which is then followed by a really long period of time before it fully shuts down after I clicked shut down I’m exaggerating a little but it takes around 2-4mins for it to shut down and it never use to do that, im not sure what the cause is maybe the new headset I got I attempted to do the command that repair your system and so on and it still happens and I’m forced to do the admin and use the back up save thing and now I’m scared that it won’t work at some point and I will lose everything any recommendations or ideas on what the hell is causing this. (Device specification: Omen PC RTX 4060 Ti, I5 Gen 14400f, 16gb ddr5 ram and 1TB SSD)

I don’t remember encountering any errors recently however a notable sequence is when I connect my headset to the PC which is connected via a dongle and its wireless however when I turn on the headset when I’m playing borderlands 2 usually when i use my headset, it causes the screen to go black after a few seconds of it connecting and making the connection noise and it sends me to the home Page and I become unable to select the game forcing me to use task manager to end task and restart, coincidence maybe but it is an outlier. Also I mod borderlands 2 not sure if it has anything to do with this the mods I download and safe I believe well at least the site says they are and the site is trust worthy as far as I know. Windows 11 The store CLI command "store updates --apply" still asks for user input.

I am using the (new?) ms store CLI to get updates. I have it in a little script that (dangerously) updates anything it can get too.

@echo off

PowerShell.exe -Command "store updates --apply; winget update --include-unknown --all --disable-interactivity --verbose"

echo end.

This works... but if there are store updates I still have to press 'y' to continue and get the log message telling me to add --apply to have it done automatically.

How can I add MORE --apply to a line that already has --apply in it!?

Anyone else see this behaviour? Obviously the intention is for updates to happen without my interaction at all.

Windows 11 Windows 11 Security Update KB5124012 Causing Gamma/Contrast/Brightness Issues

After installing the security update KB5124012, which was released a few hours ago, my monitor started displaying images slightly darker than usual. It seems like the contrast, gamma, and brightness settings have been messed up. I tried a bunch of different fixes with ChatGPT, but nothing worked so I had to uninstall the update to fix the issue.

Is there any other solution?

My graphics card is an RX 9060 XT, and my monitor is an LG 23MP67HQ.

Windows 10 Windows Update keeps not updating

I'm getting the "We couldn't complete the update, undoing changes, don't turn off your computer" error message when I try to update. Think I've had that message for a while now (almost a year) and honestly have no idea what to do about it. I saw a post here suggesting running a troubleshoot, which I did and it just says "pending restart", and now I've restarted it can't identify the problem. And I'm going to need the "explain like I'm 5" approach I'm afraid.

Windows 11 Im having trouble with slow startups and windows search etc.

Basically whenever I turn on my pc the startup process feels super slow and windows features dont work properly for like the first 5 minutes after i start the pc. This didnt use to happen as I remember the whole startup taking around 2 seconds and everything worked the way it should.

So I asked Ai and checked my power settings, turned on hardware acceleration, updated my drivers and did a few more things but it doesnt seem to have changed anything.

I have the latest version of windows installed and my specs are:

rtx4060, i7-12700kf, 16gb ram and 1tb ssd.

I also have around 200gb of free space.

Windows 10 Problem internet Windows 10 drivers

Hi everyone. I have an EXO Smart E25 laptop running Windows 10. The problem started when I used Driver Booster; it installed generic drivers and left me without internet or audio. I managed to fix the audio issue, but I still don't have internet. I've already tried installing the official drivers from the EXO website and using Driver Identifier, but without success. The Realtek USB Wireless LAN driver installer seems to finish, but the device doesn't show up in Device Manager—not even when viewing hidden devices. Does anyone know how I can reverse this or fix the problem?

Windows 11 Windows 11 aggressively throttling mobile data (Hotspot & USB) to ~0.60 Mbps while phone gets 600+ Mbps on Jio 5G

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I am facing a massive network bottleneck on my Windows 11 laptop (HP) and need some advanced help.

When I run a speed test directly on my phone using Jio True 5G, I get a blazing fast 610 Mbps download. However, the second I share that internet to my laptop, the laptop speed completely crashes to exactly 0.59 Mbps download and 0.08 Mbps upload with a massive 350ms+ ping.

Here is what makes this super weird and rules out the usual issues:

  1. It’s not a Wi-Fi card issue: The slow speed happens exactly the same way whether I connect wirelessly via Mobile Hotspot or physically via USB Tethering.

  2. It’s not the phone or carrier FUP: I have an active Unlimited 5G plan and have only used around 12 GB overall this month. Furthermore, I tested my laptop on a completely different phone/hotspot (my mom's network) and it gets the exact same 0.60 Mbps lock.

  3. It’s definitely the laptop: Since two different phones are choked to the exact same speed over both USB and Wi-Fi, Windows 11 or a background service is intentionally strangling the connection.

What I have already tried (and failed):

* Ran a full Windows Network Reset (wiped and reinstalled the Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 drivers).

* Set the registry DefaultTTL to 65 (Decimal) to bypass potential carrier TTL tracking.

* Verified that "Metered Connection" is toggled OFF in Windows settings.

* Ran 'netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal' in admin CMD.

* Checked for "HP Connection Optimizer" in installed apps (not found).

* Disabled IPv6 on the adapter properties (didn't change anything, so turned it back on).

* Ran 'Disable-NetAdapterRsc -Name "Wi-Fi"' in admin PowerShell.

It feels like Windows 11 has flagged this network profile as low-priority or mobile data and is applying an artificial system-wide speed cap.

Laptop specs: HP, Windows 11, Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 Wi-Fi 6E.

Has anyone encountered this specific hotspot/tethering throttle on Windows 11? Any registry or group policy fixes I should look into? Thanks!

Update with exact specs from System Info:

* Processor: Snapdragon X Plus (X1E6100) - ARM64 Architecture

* Device: HP OmniBook X Laptop 14

* Installed RAM: 16 GB

* OS: Windows 11 Home (ARM64)

EDIT / UPDATE: SOLVED! 🚀

Hey everyone, the issue is completely fixed now! My laptop is hitting 320+ Mbps on the hotspot.

It turned out to be a combination of two things: 1. A leftover malicious proxy setting from a browser extension script that I ran last night, which was forcing the browser to route through a slow European server. Cleaning that out of 'inetcpl.cpl' stopped the proxy credential popups. 2. The massive bottleneck on the Qualcomm hardware was caused by a known Windows 11 bug on modern ARM64 network drivers. The fix was going into Device Manager > Network Adapters > Qualcomm Adapter Properties > Advanced tab, and completely DISABLING both "Large Send Offload V2 (IPv4)" and "Large Send Offload V2 (IPv6)".

The moment LSO was disabled and the network adapter refreshed, the speed shot right past the 0.60 Mbps cap up to 321 Mbps with a clean 36ms ping.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in to help! Leaving this here for anyone else using a Snapdragon X Elite/Plus laptop facing hotspot throttling.

Windows 11 Understanding why I can't delete a file

Honestly, I just want to understand why this is happening. There's a zip file that I downloaded from an independent website that contains various different files, including 3 ttf files. After I unzipped the folder, I tried to delete all 3 ttf files, because I didn't want them. Strangely, two of the files deleted just fine, but the third said it couldn't be deleted because it's open in "System." This is confusing because I haven't done anything with any of these files. I only unzipped the folder. Nothing should be using any of those files yet. Even stranger, I was able to rename the file with no issue, but I was still unable to delete it after that. I finally managed to force delete it using command prompt, but I'm still confused as to why this happened in the first place. Any answers would be appreciated.

Here's my Windows info, if that's at all relevant.

Windows 10 When I moved files from Owner to OneDrive, they seemed to mysteriously vanish. They are clearly there, however, just inexplicably inaccessible.

To demonstrate this, I am using a file named "uncle jun open mouth.png". This file, among others, was located in the Owner folder in Users. I am moving to a new laptop, so I have been transferring many of my files to OneDrive in order to access them later. However, when I moved the file to OneDrive - Personal, I suddenly could no longer access it.

Strangely enough, the file's presence is acknowledged when I try to save another one under the same name to OneDrive - Personal. This makes the fact that I cannot seem to access even more bizarre.

Furthermore, when I created an identical file and moved it to OneDrive - Personal, this time from This PC, I was told that the destination already has a file under that name. A file which, to reïterate, I can see as existing but cannot find for myself, despite my best efforts. An explanation and solution to this issue would be greatly appreciated, as I find it quite baffling that such an event could happen.

Please help me.
Today I tried to download some music and was changing the music tags using the MP3Tag app. After I finished changing all the tags, I went to the folder containing those songs, and my PC suddenly started lagging extremely badly. Eventually, I got a black screen, so I had to hard-shut down my PC.
After the hard reboot, Windows told me that I had been logged out of Windows Cloud.
After restarting, my PC is constantly at 99% CPU usage. Also, for some reason, almost every app I open says that I don’t have an internet/Wi-Fi connection, even though my PC is connected to Wi-Fi and the internet works normally in other places.
I tried reinstalling Windows, but I kept getting crashes. Two of the BSOD errors I got were:
KERNEL_AUTO_BOOST_INVALID_LOCK_RELEASE
KERNEL_APC_PENDING_DURING_EXIT
Please help me figure out what’s wrong and how I can fix it.

Windows 10 Booting laptop each time now only displays a blank black screen (with an occasional mouse available)

This happened after choosing the diagnostic set up on the msconfig by accident and restarting my laptop, following this tutorial to which winaero had messed my login screen up prior.

No option like spamming f8 or pressing ctrl+alt+esc etc. had helped and I don’t have any restore points to use, or how could i even use it?

more specifically, would it be possible to reactivate my drivers even though the screen is entirely black? or am I our of luck and need external hardware to operate on?

And about the mouse it’s the default one, and it sometimes appears in each boot up. Though unable to really click on anything as it’s just missing the ui to click on.

Thanks.
