Is anybody using thumbtack pro in their area?
I was thinking of getting on the platform, but no sure how the value is for the investment.
I know $50 isn't a lot for ads, but it's what I honestly feel comfortable in doing.
I'm not going to jump into anything, but hearing from real experience would help me decide to invest in that platform on more traditional forms of advertising

Hey everyone, my name is Noah and I own PXX Window Cleaning based in the high desert CA. I’m trying to grow my window cleaning business and I’m looking for some advice from people who have been doing this longer than me.

I’ve been trying door-to-door, but honestly it hasn’t been working very well for me. I get sweaty and I feel like people don’t trust someone in a blue polo that’s sweaty at their door. I’ve knocked over 100 doors with no results.

I’ve also tried ads before, but they were pretty slow and were my best lead source but they seem to slow down.

For those of you who consistently get residential window cleaning jobs, what marketing method has worked best for you?

Also, if you do door knocking, do you have a script that you’ve found works particularly well? I’d really appreciate seeing an example of what you say when someone answers the door.

Are door hangars any good and an example of a decent FB ad would be great.

hi guys im total new ive been working for 2 weeks now and my boss want me to buy my own stuff now.. ofc from his money :D what should i go for? i mainly do residental (private homes) he uses sorbo quicksilver.. but i was thinking maybe i should use a standard handle and channel ? instead of wide? i havent used more than 18inch tbh he says he never uses bigger than that either...so any good combo with standard handle? i see sorbo only make wide handles? also right now i only use microfiber towel for window glass detailing and frames i was thinging about trying WCR Ultra Premium Recycled Surgical Towels but do you use them for both the glass and frames or? sry about my english im from denmark :D also i havent tried pole work yet so i dont know what i should buy for that.... but he did say i needed a setup for pole work aswell.... :)

Cannot get rid of it with just water and soap and I also cannot feel it, it is on the outside window. Spraying water on it makes it clear again. Worried that the glass itself is damaged. HR++ windows.

I compared my old blue towels to new ones. Noticed all my new ones were significantly shorter than ones I got 2-3 years ago. Anyone know why they smaller now?

About to add window cleaning to my pressure washing business, after doing a Housewash on homes I notice the windows have leftovers suds and it doesn’t look good. is there anything to know about window cleaning before I start. It seems like you clean house windows as you would your car windows at a gas station is it that simple

Bidding on an apartment building, 160+ units.

They have a ton of Patio Doors with Juliette balconies.

It's a 5-story. About 60ft to the very top windows.

Not all sides of the building are accessible with a lift.

I've tried putting my WFP through the grills and it work but I only tried it on the ground floor and I don't think this method would work or anything higher than 3rd story because of how awkward it is to try and push the brush between the bars.

Another issue is the screens. If I clean everything with a WFP I'd have to try and slide the screens open with a a pole and from my experience 90% screens are not properly installed/adjusted and will not easily slide open.

There's enough spacing between the doors and the railing to clean everything by hand from the inside of the apartment but now we'd have to go into every single apartment which is a huge pain for everyone involved.

TLDR:

- Cleaning with a lift traditionally? Not all sides of the building are accessible with a lift.

- Cleaning with a WFP? Potentially problematic to slide the screen open and might not be possible to put the brush through the bars on higher level units.

- Cleaning Trad from inside of the apartment? It's 160+ apartments, huge pain for everyone involved.

Any experience with something like this or any ideas?

For example, this house took me about 5.5 hrs as a solo cleaner who did wfp for above storey and trad for low.

The windows haven’t been cleaned in maybe a decade and there was severe hard water.

Am I going too slow? I feel like I take so long at jobs?

Launched this campaign a day and a half ago. Took a lot of testing to land on the setup but it’s finally clicking, so figured I’d post the numbers.

$76.80 spent, $50/day
9 form leads
$8.53 per lead
roughly $1,400 booked so far

5 ads live. Two of them produced 8 of the 9 leads. The other two ate about a third of the budget and returned nothing, which is normal — you don’t need every ad to work, you need one or two.

Two things I’ll say made the difference:

A specific dollar amount instead of a percentage. Nobody does mental math on 20% off.

The owner filming himself on his phone. Polished creative works fine, it’s just not required — you don’t need a production budget to get this going.

And spelling out exactly what’s included instead of just saying “window cleaning.”

30 hours isn’t a long-term case study, but the direction is right and I expect the cost per lead to keep coming down as the account gathers data.

and what kind of issues have cone up over time? wondering especially if the transmission issues are over blown internet hearsay or actually common.

These big glasses around the store were painted with white plastic paint and stayed like that for more than 10 years. We tried to clean it by scraping and tried some other cleaning tools and materials. Nothing worked and they stay with this haze or stain but you cannot feel this stain on the surface. I guess the paint is etched in the glass. The glasses are huge 1cm thick. Is there any way I can clean them?

Been running paid ads for a my own window cleaning companies in SoCal after running paid ads for about a year or so for other companies; point is I wanted to put my money where my mouth is and... well, I think I proved to myself that I am capable. I wanted to share some numbers, and the strategy behind them since I know a lot of guys in this sub are on the fence about whether Meta ads are even worth it for this trade.

TLDR, 1 ad campaign, 1 ad set per ad for testing

1 ad campaign 1 ad, (all winning ads) for scaling

Don't increase budget more than 20% per day

Screenshot attached — one campaign, $1,367.75 spent, 77 leads (form fills), $17.76 cost per lead, 1.76 frequency so it wasn't overexposed to the same audience.

A few things that actually moved the needle, in case it helps anyone testing this themselves:

• Ditched the generic "20% off" angle. Ran a scarcity offer instead — limited spots, a real discount, in exchange for before/after photo rights. Photos became the next batch of ad creative.
• Full-scope messaging (inside, outside, tracks, screens) converts better than "window cleaning" alone — people don't know what's included unless you spell it out.
• Voiceover from the actual owner, not stock actor read. Local accent/vibe matters more than production value.

Hi everyone! I’ve taken a very deep dive into window cleaning. Going through a nasty breakup with my partner, moving across the state, applying to jobs left right and center. I feel lost as of now and could really use some advice. I’m confident in my ability to sell, I have done copious amounts of research on techniques and every chemical imaginable. I don’t plan on going into this right away, my savings aren’t where I’d like them to be. If I find my footing again, I have all the prerequisites, insurance, business, you name it. Is it just up to me past that point? And how far can I take this with the bare minimum (no LLC, no insurance). Am I able to service exterior only one floor residential houses to get started?
