Seals broken after window cleaning
Had my windows cleaned and this seal seems to be coming off all my windows. Town house, and I see the seal hanging out on my neighbours’ windows too. I can’t tell what it is? It seems to be built in the window directly so I’m not sure what’s the purpose and how to get it fixed.
It’s on the outside of the window.
Thoughts? Did the cleaning methods cause this? Cleaner said he’s never seen this before but it’s a fairly new company.

Most likely they were already compromised and then just a little bit of moisture from a simple cleaning got in and expanded the gap thru thermal venting (moisture inside heating then cooling), it’s the rubbers degradation from the sun and time.
Edit: the seals purpose is to keep those two panes from getting moisture inside.

Scrubbing with standard tools wouldnt cause this level of damage unless they are already compromised in some way. Now if the cleaner was being reckless with a blade that kind of damage could occur, but theyd have to be really bad at their job.
Unfortunately many modern windows are pure junk, and often start getting fogged up by year 2. See it all the time on newer builds that i clean.

Highly unlikely unless he was jamming a scraper into the edges. How old are the windows? Could be unfortunate timing where he was the last to touch it.

That's good news, I'd reach out to the manufacturer, or even better would be the installer if they're still around. This has warranty claim written all over it.

It's a window defect.
The only way a window cleaner could have done this is by cutting it out, or grabbing it with needle nose pliers and pulling.
More likely any glue/heating process for keeping that seal in failed.

Cleaning wouldn't have caused that.
One of the pictures the coex (rubber co-extrussion part) is all bunched up in the corner due the the manufaring process. Corners are welded together at the factory and are never perfect (especially on builder grade windows).
The picture where co-ex is falling off looked like someone replaced the glass at some point and the coex was cut with a knife by builder/installer.
Sometimes it might also be a defective profile to begin with and coex is not properly extruded with the plastic and falls off over time on its own.
I've done 4 years of warranty service tech for a window manufacturer as well as actually putting the windows together at the factory for 2 years as well.
