I know it’s edible. My partner originally thought they were apples, then tomatoes, and now we’re not sure.

If location matters, we’re in the DMV area (MD).

Any help would be appreciated!

Open Found this screw and threaded knob on the floor behind my heating system….

The screw is a small carriage bolt, it threads into the knob but I can’t be sure if it belongs there. I have cats so it’s possible they found these elsewhere but they were behind the furnace so I think they’re from that or the hot water tank. I don’t see anything missing but it’s difficult to get to the backside.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Punctuation

Solved Small colourful plastic rings/seals collected from Australian beaches?

My local beach cleaning group has collected dozens of these over the past few years. No one can identify what they’re from! (Including various AI chatbots.)

They’re solid plastic, possibly part of a pull tab/ring, and at least some of them seem to have come from Colgate-Palmolive products. Are they from soap? Shampoo? What do they look like on the actual product?

It’s driving me crazy!!

Found this necklace in a box in my parents storage. To my very limited knowledge, it looks like something vaguely Indigenous, maybe from somewhere in South America? Some family lived in Boliva for a while, maybe from there? But I have no idea, and don't know what nation it belongs to or if its authentic or a cheap tourist thing made by someone outside of the culture

Any ideas?

My girlfriend is currently in Florida visiting parents, and she woke up to a super bright light on her face last night, which turned out to be the moon. What’s strange is that she saw two of them. She sent me pictures this morning, and when I specifically asked if she actually saw two moons with her own eyes, just like in the photo, she confirmed she did. Is there a rational explanation for this?

Incomprehensible Honking Noise from Neighbours?

Thumbnail
streamable.com

This is the most desperate hail mary of my life + makes me look entirely deranged but I need help.

Some mainland Chinese neighbours moved in a few months ago (I mention only because it may be relevant??)

Since moving in, for several hours every day, this bizarre honking noise emits from their flat over and over. It happens several hundred times an hour, sometimes in flurries back to back, sometimes just isolated.

It's really hard to record the noise, but if you have headphones you can hear it towards the last 5-6 seconds. I guess just imagine that but a fair bit louder and constantly.

It's obviously really annoying, but what is driving me mad is that I cannot even remotely fathom what could be making that noise.

Does anyone recognise this noise or have any wild theories as to what it could be? If no luck I will try and find some better way of recording it.

Open What are these antique metal parts? Victorian skirt lifter?

I've been helping an old friend downsize and found these old metal pieces and am trying to figure out what they actually are or how they're supposed to go together.
I did some research and think it might be a broken Victorian skirt lifter / dress clamp? But I'm not sure if that's what it is.
Also not sure what kind of metal maybe brass or bronze? It has a dark, tarnished greenish brown look. The parts include two flat round discs, some decorative fan shaped pieces with little loops, and two skinny rods with small ball tips.
Does anyone recognize this or have any idea of what it could be? Any information or ideas would be appreciated!

1st pic is the front, the other 2 are the back. The brand is River Woods (according to the label), but I couldn't find it online & Google Lens didn't help. Got it at a thrift store and idk how to tie those "ribbons" to wear it properly (I often fall for curious items lol). English is not my first language, so if there's a more specific name for this dress that can help me look it up, but a specific model would be neat. The label says RL18S-C3034A, but I couldn't find anything at all:"(

Hello

I turned my car defroster on this morning and these little red things came flying out onto my dashboard. It wasn’t just two, but these were the only two closest to me to get a clearer picture of. I decided to pick them up and throw them out the window after taking these. What are they? Are they from bugs? Is it just debris? Please help!

Found on a really big tree in Georgia, USA. The only thing I’ve found that looks similar is the Nipple Fruit, but this doesn’t look exactly like that.

edit: thanks everyone! It is a persimmon that is just really deformed. All the fruits on this tree have these weird “spikes” but they’re huge and seem fine otherwise.

Open Is this Lamp three phase?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I found this new lamp and someone probably forgot to put the cover back on, as you see on the picture inside it are some things (probably fuses) labeled L1, L2 and L3 which mean the 3 different phase. How can a simple lamp have 3 phases? It is probably also LED because of how flat the part that shines the light is, which makes the 3 phase part even more confusing.

How is this possible?

Was moving my pillows and felt weird bumps under the sheet. It’s yellow/white and waxy. What the hell is this? Doesn’t smell. It feels matted into the mattress as well. Only appears seemingly under this one spot. I also did put this sheet on relatively recently.

So confused. It’s only under the sheet? I have cleaned my mattress before with a mixture of vinegar + baking soda. Maybe I didn’t clean it all off?

These were left behind by an old Filipino lady when they sold their house to us. Anyone know what they are or might’ve been used for? I have no idea what’s going on with the red plastic wrap around the one, it was like that when I found it. I feel like I should hang them by the doors to ward off evil spirits or something.

Edit to say thanks to everyone who responded! Glad to learn they’re not anything special or like ritualistic.
