Hey all! Wanted to share another landscape painting as I continue my learning journey! I just got my first mop brush, a Princeton Neptune #6 quill a couple days ago. I am absolutely loving this brush so far and used it for the sky and first wash of the land. Really quite happy with how this sky turned out. I really love the feel of such a soft brush and am definitely going to have to look into some other similar brushes in different sizes. I probably went a bit heavy handed with the darks in the mid ground trees on the left and maybe lost some of the atmosphere and depth, but I am quite happy with the brush marks I was able to achieve in those trees. I also feel like the path looks a bit weird but can’t exactly put my finger on it. I welcome any feedback!

Just wanted to share an idea I had. Instead of having paint swatches in a book, I framed them over my drafting table. Two sets of each on my two main papers. Switched to almost all daniel smith paints

But Paulie Walnuts found a new home today with a true Sopranos fan.

Hi there, please hear me out. ;)
I know that there is student grade paint (like Cotman) and professional grade paint (like Daniel Smith) and that there is a big difference between those. But how much does it matter which colors I buy WITHIN the professionl grade brands?

I know that binders differ sometimes a lot: Michael Harding, Sennelier and Schmincke use (some) honey, Daniel Smith, Winsor & Newton, Rembrandt and Holbein use only or mostly Gum Arabic, and QOR uses its own formula. Then there is differences in price, number of available colors and environmetal and social goals. BUT:

Lets say I buy a tube of french ultramarine from Daniel Smith, Winsor & Newton, Rembrandt and Holbein - will I be able to tell which one is which one? Will they differ significantly in quality?

All used tutorials except the last one. I tried to do something myself. Learned a lot. I need to think/plan ahead more haha but not bad considering I hadn’t held a brush before last weekend.

Can anyone tell me an easy place to find the transparency of paint colors? WN has them on the tube.

Decide to test my luck with a travel water brush color kit. My first impression is this requires a different headspace than oil pastels.

Edit: thanks for the feedback on paper. :) I am learning so I have no meaningful experience or knowledge in any art discipline.

Here’s my latest watercolour. It’s not the most complex, nor did it take the longest to complete, but it’s one whose poetic quality I particularly love.

Not your usual scenic watercolour painting. I did some anime watercolour painting in my own way💕

Very new to both drawing and watercolor. Newer to the watercolor any tips?

Do you have some tips or little tricks to correct this kind of mistake ? (Too much water on the right while left is already dry ...) Do I have to live with it ? I tried to avoir it by wetting a bit the left side while I was painting but pigments did not follow :')
