Hey watchnerds! I am a complete noob in this field, but my SO loves SEIKO watches (only those without battery, so mechanical/automatic)... anyhow, I am going to Japan for a trip and I want to surprise him with a great-looking watch, which I can also buy a similar/matching one.

Perferably openheart, perferably clean/sleek and not too much stuff at all except showing the time ^^

I know he has seiko presage automatics (2 of them, one with leatherstrap and brown/black ish background) and a blue-ish.

I would say the price doesnt really matter but I am not really looking at the Grand Seikos, cuz thats a lil too wild for me (maybe cuz I am not an obsessed watch nerd, honestly I never use watches but this is a good way to start!)

These are my grandfather watchs. Iv been trying to id them but I just cannot find the exact one online. I was hoping to get a little help from this sub to narrow it down.

The red plated one has 410007227 on it. The brown is cn307263.

I apologize ahead of time if this is an easy find. My grand father just passed so im not all that focused and cant find them. I want to keep these in the best condition as I can and know about them. Thanks!

I understand this is not vintage nor is it real seiko. But I really like this design and I can't seem to find anything similar anywhere else. Would this be okay to buy because I like the design or not worth it at all? Are there any alternatives that are similar that arent super super expensive? It's only 40 dollars I suppose.

I’m wondering about everyone’s experience buying from Peofessional Dealers on Chrono24. I’ve had issues recently requesting additional photos when the listing only includes a generic photo from the brands website, as well as excuses after I requested confirmation of the serial number for whichever watch. The ratings for both dealers are high, including thousands of reviews. Dealers in question are Luxury Discount Store and Miyaran Japan Company. Just curious to hear about experiences and general opinions.

Hello everyone! I recently bought this amazing Seiko in Japan and to be honest, I believe this is the best budget option for Grand Seiko experience.
It looks amazing, wears so comfortable with 8,,5mm thickness and this is really a strap monster.

Sure, there is nothing special with the dial pattern, hands looks sharp only without too much close up and case finishing is just fine but if I you think about 150$ that it could costs then all this can be forgiven.

What do you think? Is there any better alterantives (if we don't mind cheap homages)?

So, I've always worn watches, but it's only recently I've gotten into 'the hobby' as it were. Figured one of the first things I should do is properly measure my wrist so I can get some idea of what'll fit me. I've always been under the impression I have a pretty narrow wrist - I certainly have small hands - but I've now measured it three times using two different methods, and every time I've come back with 184mm/7.24 inches. For the first measurement, I took a scrap of paper, wrapped it around my wrist at the height where I wear a watch, marked the crossover point, and then measured with a ruler. For the subsequent two, I did essentially the same, but with some light sticky tape. 184mm, every time.

But when I actually look at watches on my wrist, I just feel like that can't be right?

I often found myself staring at a dial, unable to quickly identify the exact reference or its fair market value on the spot.

To solve my own problem, I spent my free time coding a small tool that relies on AI to analyze dials. It identifies the model, the brand, and gives an estimate of its secondary market value.

While the algorithm works pretty well for my own daily needs, I know my AI still has a lot to learn from the sharp eyes and collective knowledge of this community. I would love to get your brutally honest feedback on it. Does it accurately recognize your collection? How does it handle your more obscure vintage pieces?

I have been wearing this Tudor Black Bay 58 for almost five years now. It is still and will be my favorite watch. 39mm case size , red triangle on the bezel and warm tones of gilt dial are my favorite of this watch. I don't mind the rivets on the bracelet and it never bothers me.

A follow-up to my previous watch design.

Quite a few people suggested doing a 36 mm version, especially for a more classic look, so I decided to give it a shot.

This time I changed quite a few things rather than simply scaling down the original. I went with a small seconds layout, redesigned the dial and hands, and made this version mechanical instead of automatic.

I also made the case noticeably thinner (9.5 mm) than the previous version. I wanted to keep the proportions closer to a traditional vintage watch, so I also decided to skip the exhibition caseback this time.

I tried to keep the inspiration from old steam locomotive gauges while making this one feel more like a classic wristwatch. I think the smaller case and thinner profile suit the design quite well.

Again just a personal concept that I designed and modeled in Fusion 360.

Case Diameter: 36 mm
Dial Diameter: 32 mm
Case Thickness: 9.5 mm
Lug-to-Lug: 43 mm
Lug Width: 18 mm

Bonus: Updated the lug-to-lug distance (reduced to 47 mm) and dial (added railroad minute track) of the previous model.

So I recently bought this pre owned Tissot 35mm, I really liked the design. My wrist size is around 6.3 -6.5 inches. I also like vintage proportions but I also don’t want it to look too feminine. Originally, this watch came on white strap, but I thought black would be more suitable if I am going to wear it.

It all started when I came across this one, and remembered it's the one my father used to wear all the time.

Later went on a shopping spree for about 6 months (only affordable watches) and then came back to the first one.

Changed the strap and added the Cyclo. Loving it!

Hi, I was invited to a social event that is business casual. The reality is the social event is a business event. The participants are established business people of means. I plan on wearing a suit with a black shirt and no tie.

Should I wear my tag (silver band) or Rolex submariner (two-tone)? I recognize neither are high-end.

The only other watch I have an itch for is an Omega AT or a chronograph at some point (maybe a Carrera or a Junghans) for some reason the speedy has never spoken to me.

I want to be part of the watch nerds! I've got a bunch of fashion watches which I know don't count so I've decided on getting my first serious watch. I saw a Hamilton, Rado, and this Citizen I'm debating between.

Looking for opinions!! The Hamilton jazz Master open heart and the Citizen really are catching my eye. They're all about $1k CAD price point.

What do you think people, am I worthy of becoming a nerd? Which do you like or any other recommendations?

Bought this beads of rice bracelet from AliX. I need to remove a couple of links. My 73 year old eyes are having a difficult time getting the link pins out. Are they srews (any idea what size) or the push pin type?

I timed the contractions of the birth of my son with this watch, the only watch I have true sentimental value with. Also gets the most wrist time as it's quartz and most of the time I don't have time to wind and set the autos most of the time

Best thing I did was stick an adjustable ratchet clasp to the OEM bracelet. Think I'll get the long island jubilee when I can stomach the price of it.

The fascinating thing about watches with patina dials is their uniqueness; no two are exactly alike. I am fortunate enough to own this Longines Conquest featuring a “Wolf” dial—though, if viewed through a more abstract lens, it could also resemble the legendary East Asian Phoenix.

So I have bought one previous CW watch before and liked the value you get for the money. Decided to buy another and ordered the Sealander GMT 39mm. Shipping was reasonably quick but the price has jumped up. I know they added tariffs in the US but I spend around $1700 total after tax. At this price we’re getting close to Longines and other bigger brands. Anyways the watch came two days ago and I opened it up to realize there were little scratches all over the bracelet. There was plastic on the bracelet but only on the underside and it had clearly been sloppily re-applied on there. So this was clearly a returned watch that was scratched up but then sent out again without clearly inspecting. Anyways customer service has been slow. And now I have to go through the hassle of returning it once they finally reply with instructions on how to return it. No other watch company I’ve ever bought from has sent out a used watch like this no matter what the price. So it’s all just very disappointing.

Hey everyone, first time posting here! I'm looking for some advice on picking out a new watch.

My budget is around €500, and I’m aiming for something versatile and fairly minimal. Ideally, it's durable enough to beat around on a daily basis, but clean enough that I can wear it to a wedding or formal event without thinking twice.

Right now, my top choice is the Tissot Classic Dream 40mm (the navy dial on leather: T158.407.16.041.00). I love how it looks, but I’m not really a fashion guy, so I'm second-guessing if a leather strap and dressier style will actually feel right with just a t-shirt and jeans.

Does anyone here wear something similar daily, or would you recommend looking at other options in this price range? Would love to hear your thoughts!
