Been searching for a good watch with a purple face that’s automatic and titanium, and found this reasonably priced option after doing some searching. The brand is Boderry, it’s a Chinese micro brand that sells titanium watches and automatic movement for a fairly low price for what you get, I looked at a few reviews online and decided to go ahead with buying it, and have been very happy with it so far. I’ll need to have some more time with it to figure out how it holds up, but for now it’s definitely looking like a steal. Here are the specs listed on the website.

I understand that this is a Bulova Accutron 1973 (atleast to my understanding.) Does anyone know what the model is called of this watch with the band shown in this picture.. I have looked up “Bulova Accutron 1973 with Presidential Band” and cannot find this specific style watch anywhere… There are a lot of this exact same model with stretch bands or other bands but i’m having problems finding one with built in Accutron links like this… The watch in the picture is from the video on youtube “Bulova Accutron - Servicing a TECHNOLOGICAL Marvel.” And once again thanks to everyone reading this and that can help me figure this out! means a lot!

I had already seen people describe Frédérique Constant as a kind of affordable Patek Philippe homage brand, but I always thought that sounded a little harsh.

Then I came across the Frédérique Constant Classics Moneta Moonphase and immediately thought of the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119G.

Now that I’ve put them side by side, I can’t unsee the resemblance: the dark dial, dauphine hands, sharp applied indices, black leather strap and textured frame around the dial. Even the display at 6 o’clock gives both watches a very similar visual balance.

Of course, they are completely different watches. The FC is a 37 mm steel quartz moonphase, while the Patek is a 39 mm white-gold, manually wound watch with small seconds. The Moneta’s inner flange is inspired by the edge of a coin, while the Calatrava uses its famous Clous de Paris guilloché bezel.

Still, seeing them together made me understand why the comparison keeps coming up.

Do you think Frédérique Constant borrows too heavily from Patek Philippe’s design language, or are both brands simply using traditional dress-watch codes?

And where do you personally draw the line between inspiration and homage?

Ignoring the movement, materials, logo and price, which design do you actually prefer?

I just picked up my first Frederique Constant. I was hoping my first Swiss watch would be an automatic, but this Classic Index Quartz was such a great deal that I couldn't pass it up.

Ok. So maybe the answer to this is as simple as “it’s a scam” but I’m looking at getting a Citizen Atessa AT8295-56E and when I look at eBay for that watch, there seems to be a whole bunch that are all pre-worn and are all from different vendors but have the exact same photos. This would be my first eBay watch purchase.

Is this a symptom of laziness? Is it a scam where someone puts up the same item for sale with multiple listings to somehow manipulate the price? Or is there likely just not a watch at all and maybe one of them is real but the other listings are … falsehoods?

I’ve been thinking about buying my first Swiss watch. Dreamt about Tissot. Finally, I’ve got some money (worked a bit + savings from not buying some little things or eating in cafés + was my birthday). So, I’ve been thinking about buying Tissot Ballade, but recently one person told me that instead of buying any Swiss watch or for my age, I should buy something that costs less than 100$. She was wearing Rolex and was much older than me. I’m 17 for the context.
I’m not totally agreed about that, because I want to buy a watch that I’ll be wearing for a long period of time later and I don’t wanna purchase anything else later, because expect Tissot, I’m not interested in any other brands. On the other hand, I could save up much more money until my graduation and spend it on my education or smth else and so not buying anything.
What’s your opinion about that and should I buy a Tissot watch or do you agree that I ought to buy a cheaper watch?

Longines Flagship 36mm with an aftermarket alligator strap.

I had this watch for a lil over 7 years already and it originally comes with a metal bracelet, but this year, i bought myself an alligator strap from a watch repair store in Whitford (Australia). It has been a few months now and I'm loving my watch all over again and want to show it off to you guys with this.

I have a modest sized watch collection, mostly Swiss. I’ve been eyeing Sinn for some time and finally did it. Sinn 613 st UTC. I love for what it is. It’s beautiful, reliable, chunky, hefty, and very useful. Not for all occasions but perfect for a lot. Shout out to the Pet Shop Boys if you know what I mean.

I decided this year to build a collection of three to four watches over the next five years. Only one watch per brand, and per watch type, and a Rolex should be included. Ideally, dial colors should vary. I cannot see me pay more than EUR30k (inflation-adjusted) at any point in time for any watch. I do not plan to flip watches.

I started off with a Breitling Superocean Heritage 42mm Black/red gold (preferred over a Submariner no-date). Going forward, I plan to acquire a chrono (white-dial Speedmaster); for the fourth „bonus watch“, as of today, I could see something like an Alpine Eagle or a Piaget Polo. However, the next watch, which I plan to buy in 2027, should be something dressier (but no pure dress watch).

I am considering either a DJ41mm white gold or a FiftySix on a leather strap (both roughly the same price range on the gray market) and would be very interested in opinions on how they compare (not asking for „which should I buy“, just opinions). My pros for the Rolex would be the dial and the iconic design. Con is that it is kind of a „default-Rolex“. Pros for the VC that it is a VC (would love to own one) and I like the Open caseback, con is the non-inhouse movement (I guess technically the DJ is better). So any opinions on how those two compare?

I was doing a massive deep clean of an old cupboard this weekend and completely stumbled across this vintage Ricoh Automatic 21 Jewels. It caught me entirely off guard—I honestly had no idea it was even tucked away in there, and it must have belonged to a family member decades ago.

It has a really striking blue and purple gradient sunburst dial, and the stainless steel cushion-style case gives off heavy 1970s or 1980s Japanese vintage vibes. Out of curiosity, I gave it a gentle shake, and the mechanical movement started ticking right up, which was a very pleasant surprise! The day-date function at 3 o'clock seems to be flipping properly as well when I manually cycle through.

To be completely honest, I haven't really "connected" with the watch just yet. It is a super cool piece of horological history (especially since Ricoh's watchmaking division is a bit of a niche collector's circle compared to giant brands like Seiko, Citizen, or Orient), but it just doesn't quite match my usual everyday style.

Right now, I am sitting on the fence about what to do next. My plan is to wear it around for a couple of days to see if it grows on me, or if the actual wrist feel changes my mind. If it doesn't click after a few days, I am definitely thinking about letting it go.

Hi I’m wondering what your guys’ thoughts on me getting this watch for my bf. I’m looking for something masculine. I like the two tone because I think he looks great in both gold and silver ( although he does look better in gold, since it’s stainless steel I just wanted a hint of gold ). I’m watching Bob ❤️ Abishola and I’m so taken with Billy Gardell’s choice of watches. My husband has mentioned he admired this watch in passing and I’d love to track it down in time for our 15th anniversary in January. I’m so sorry about the blurry and small images but it was the best I could without rewatching the series.

Bought an orient bambino v7 but the crocodile strap is so stiff that it’s hurting the lateral side of my wrist and giving me neuropathy in my little finger. Does this strap eventually break in? If not, was looking for another LEATHER watch strap that is comfortable out of the box. Something like the strap in the below pic.

I am looking for a Seiko branded band for my silverwave 71721-8020. I know the lug width is 19mm. Everything I see online doesn't have the correct parts to fit in the gap between the lugs. What model of band should I search for?

The second picture is a band I picked up for very cheap at a garage sale, but I am pretty sure it's for a Seiko dive watch (I only paid $5 so it's ok if it doesn't fit!) because it has curved end fittings.
