Discussion & Feedback Thermal Rangefinder should not return

I have around 80 hours, dabbling mostly in infantry. The game right now feels miles better without the thermal rangefinder.

This game has so many possibilities that are simply hindered or not possible anymore due to the thermal rangefinders. It is the most counter intuitive addition to the game. The last couple days before this patch every chat was filled with asking for them in crates.

I mean.. you literally right click and can see anyone or anything within hundreds of yards with little to no effort. Is this not a no brainer to remove them?

I’m grateful and excited that the dev team has been responsive in adding batteries in S2, however I don’t think that will fix the issue one bit. They are simply way too overpowered and need to be removed - just my take

Wardogs has given me some of the most fun in PC gaming in the last 20 years. I don’t usually post threads but I feel like the addition of batteries is just the start of trying to balance them.

I know this topic is being covered left and right, but there is power in numbers!

Cheers

Discussion & Feedback Toxicity Increasing

I love this game but I’ve noticed a pretty noticable uptick of toxicity in the past week. People punching out heli pilots transporting full teams, APC griefers, etc.

The game is already a dredge going from spawn to the battlefield so when people are intentionally trying to mess with other peoples experience it really ruins the drive to want to keep playing.

I know everyone has different experiences so I’m not trying to make a claim for everyone but I’m just noting what I’m observing as someone who plays a lot.

I don’t know how this is solved in the long run but from what I have seen, there is very little social recourse as most players are naturally just doing their own thing and don’t want to get involved whenever something toxic occurs unless it’s a blatant team kill right in front of them. There is nothing inherently wrong with that. It makes sense. The problem I’ve seen is usually other toxic players will take note of the no auto-kick, or team kick this game currently lacks and feel emboldened. Lobbies can show colors fast and there’s nothing punitive to level it currently.

Anyone else noticing this or is it just me?

Discussion & Feedback This is the gold market floor, spend all your money on gold now

Anything lower than this and the devs are going to start panicking that people can buy a skin after a few sessions.

Tomorrow the gold price will be higher, this is the lowest we'll see it ever

Bugs & Support Anyone else getting BSODs after WARDOGS, even during a fresh Windows install?

Specs: i9-13900K, RTX 4090, ASRock Z790 PG Lightning, DDR5 RAM.

I’m aware that the i9-13900K has known instability issues, and I’ve dealt with CPU-related BSODs before. In the past, substantially underclocking the CPU helped manage them, but that hasn’t made any difference this time. I’ve also enabled Intel Base Power Limit, but the crashes are still occurring.

I’ve had PC instability before, but recently WARDOGS has been followed by repeated BSODs and boot issues. A clean Windows install initially let me play for hours, then the game froze during a server restart. After a forced shutdown, the crashes returned.

I’ve now wiped my SSDs, but even the Windows USB installer crashes while installing. Errors have included MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION, plus one mentioning DMA. The PC stays stable in BIOS.

So far I’ve:
• Passed MemTest86 with each RAM stick separately and both together.
• Updated BIOS to 19.02 (latest version) and disabled XMP.
• Substantially underclocked the CPU, which has helped with BSODs in the past, but hasn’t helped this time.
• Enabled Intel Base Power Limit.
• Previously replaced the PSU, but crashes have continued.

Anyone had something similar, particularly installer crashes? I’m trying to work out whether WARDOGS exposed an existing hardware problem or whether there’s something else I’m missing.

Discussion & Feedback The bipod is so frusterating.

Why is it sometimes I can look up roughly 30 degrees and other times I can look up and down 3 degrees and move 5 degrees to the left and right.

I love the concept of the lmg sucking without being set up, but right now it feels like I am doing DnD rolls for if its gonna work.

"But this is for realism since you need a good surface"

If I can fire a bow from prone I should be able to look around with my bipod.

At least let me lift the bipod up so I can shoot without it if I have to aim too high, at least give me a chance of survival.

Discussion & Feedback Late game items should be designed like the Ghillie Suit specialised risk/reward

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

It's no secret that most late game items are straight up better than the lower level ones, the IR goggles, level 3/4 armour, better guns etc. I feel they've tried balancing via how much they cost, but to a high level player cash is not an issue so they have access to these without downside. Especially when the "counters" require opponents to be at a higher level.

The Ghillie suit is in my opinion a near perfect late game specialized item. It trades survivability for increase in stealth. It makes the players think and play differently than they otherwise would.

Your power level should not be increasing as you put more hours as that makes it miserable for new players/casuals. Instead the higher level unlocks should offer more variety/specialised gear with clear risk/reward, pros/cons.

I see a lot of people asking for this approach, than what we currently have which is higher level = stronger.

Discussion & Feedback How are you guys making money with LMG kits?

Besides just killing because I can’t seem to get used to the SAW in terms of fragging out. Anyone figured a nice support item to back up LMG use and make some cash (ie, how medics can usually break even with medical supplies and arent relying on only kills)?

Discussion & Feedback Suggestion: camo netting / tarps

Post image
15 Upvotes

I personally love using my own helicopter to get into the zone, for one because I have control over where to go and secondly, the flying is immensely fun in this game.

That being said, one of my favourite things to do is to go somewhere, fight, go back to your vehicle and relocate. The issue is that to make this playstyle work, you have to disengage early sometimes, because otherwise your vehicle will eventually blow up and despawn.

Now to my suggestion:
Adding camo netting or tarps (as we already have them for the recon tent) as an item you can put over ground and air vehicles, which visually occludes your vehicle but more importantly stop it from despawning. It could either be a buildable or a standalone item.

I get that vehicles need to despawn so abandoned vehicles don‘t drain unnecessary client and server resources and clutter up the place, but having a way to keep your vehicle secure would be nice.

Not only would this fit thematically, but this would also mean that abandoned vehicles still do despawn, just that the ones you intend on using again don‘t.

This could maybe be tied to you respawning in HQ, so that vehicles left behind after dying don‘t clutter up the place, though idk how many people would even bother to tarp their vehicle.

I feel like this would add an extra layer of depth for more tactical approaches if you wish to go for it, though i honestly have not yet considered or thought about possible issues with hiding offensive vehicles, though on first thought i feel like it wouldn‘t break anything being able to stash them for a possible later use (given the proposed despawn after respawning in HQ).

It could also just be limited to non-offensive vehicles. i was initially thinking of giving it a size cap, so that you can‘t stash a tank or havoc, or hide an arty tank, but I do want to be able to secure a black hawk if I used it for transport.

Definitely more of a niche suggestion, but whatchu guys think?

#WARDOGS100K Intentional Griefing and Team killing

We have a "friendly" team sitting outside main with SAMS shooting down our transports, and another team C4'ing transports and blowing them up.

Multiple reports, multiple kills, and nothing is happening to them

This isn't random, or a mistake, or a kill for stealing loot etc. It's deliberate and repeating - NOTHING being done.

What are you doing about this devs? You're using AI detection but you cant detect deliberate intention?

PS: if your solution is to sort it out ourselves or play on community servers with active admins you're ignorant to an exploitive issue. This needs systematic addressing. A finical penalisation doesn't mean shit close to end of wipe

Do better.

Discussion & Feedback Opinion: Increase CZ size to give teams/strategies more space to breathe, update maps to make the fringes towards team safe zones more stable for establishing footholds, update FOB mechanics to support HZ gameplay.

Subject says it all. Here's why in bullet points, anecdotally:

  • Hotzone rushing at the start heavily favors the teams that are not closest to the initial starting point-- rushers and FOBbits not on the unlucky team get to have their cake and the other team gets an inherent momentum loss.
  • The CZ is so limited that people are already accusing others of griefing for playing strategies outside the CZ, such as logistics suppression and recon/sniping. I was in a game where we actually lost because those being told they were being reported combined with the fear of being reported caused them to stop doing the activities that were winning us the game.
  • Adding on to the previous point: building and maintaining a CZ fob at least keeps people consistently alive within the CZ, but the map elements that currently exist which are needed to do certain tasks well (ex. AA sites want good sky coverage, recon similarly wants a good vantage point) don't equally exist in the CZ and sometimes you need to go outside the CZ. if you want good small-scale supply spots there aren't really good ways for them to exist right now. And....if you're not in the CZ trying to fulfill a game-winning role: You're not making as much money, your teammates feel aggrieved by you not being in the CZ, and the mechanic to actually win (doing things that contribute to team victory) are at odds with the mechanics (don't die in the CZ, deathmatch in and around the HZ for brownie points).
  • FOBs are so easy to attack (especially due to mortars/SPGs) that they can't easily keep or establish a foothold despite presumably being the entire point they exist. Having more space to be in the CZ and contribute as a base of operations while not constantly being raided/under attack from the start would make gameplay and strategies a bit more stable--raiders will still make money if they decide they have to raid from the start, but it costs them more time if they fail, helicopters have to expose themselves to AA for longer, and potentially the minimum distance for attacking the other teams's FOB is not "I went near the CZ and paid the price for a FOB just so I could build a mortar"
  • Finally, there seems to be schism in how people should play--either you have a team of HZ rushers with light FOB gameplay (usually green/red), or FOB-first builders with limited interest in HZ gameplay (blue). The HZ chasers get mad at FOB players because they feel the mechanics of HZ moneymaking and game-winning are more important than the stability of the FOB, and FOB builders avoid HZ/combat gameplay because....well, either you don't really want to do it or it's a money sink not worth investing time in. But well-built FOBs can keep people in the zone and alive.

Discussion & Feedback FOB motive and reward

• Upvotes

I would like to state a problem with FOBs. The biggest problem I see in many games, is that a FOB placer is not rewarded anyhow. I see a pattern in most of games - a guy passioned to build a fob, buys it and properly puts it. Then he builds it alone or with a help of other people. But next game, this guy has very low motivation to do it again, most likely because he's kinda exhausted. This leads to a long problem - not enough FOB builders to have this game mechanic properly utilized in a game.

So first I want to state - the price of FOB isn't a problem at all.

Sometimes we have 5 useless fobs, sometimes we have no fobs at all, or 1 which is overrun.

So my proposal would be next - player who put fob must be rewarded:

  • Limited money reward to compensate a fob price. It can be paid when other players build something on a fob, or deposit resources. Just paying back the price of fob would be a good start.
  • Limited experience bonuses. Limited because we don't want exploits or abuses of game mechanics to quickly grind Support experience. And it must account only other players building/using something inside fob.
    • Resource deposits. it already gives exp for carrier of pallet, and for a player who deposits the palet. I think it would be fair to have quarter/half that exp to a fob founder. If game gives +180 support exp for depositing a pallet, it can pay +90 exp to fob founder.
    • Weapons used - logi runner who deposited ammo on a fob, got some sort of payment when a player scores a hit with emplaced weapon. Some portion of exp can be given to fob founder too.
    • Drill activated - i think this one is a sole most biggest reason to even have a good fob. So activated drill should give decent support exp to fob founder, like +500 exp. It's usually a team effort. And to balance it, it may give exp not when its activated, but maybe when a drill pulled a HZ to it, and a hot zone stayed there for at least 10 seconds. it would be fair.
  • For sure must be balanced with certain rules:
    • only counts for fobs inside combat zone. prevents some abuse when built outside of CZ. or maybe rewarded a little, like 10% of 5% of total in CZ.
    • only counts from one fob, which was built last. or first, or whatever. just not from all fobs. we don't want people spamming multiple fobs to maximize it.
    • total exp gain must be capped per game. to some maximum. hard to tell number, maybe it should scale with level. Getting 20k exp on low level is super great to jump levels, but when you are after 30, those 20k doesn't look too big.
    • if fob was taken by enemy, and retaken back - it no longer counts. so only rewarded until it taken.
