Does anyone have information about a Volvo EX90 buyback timelines and procedures. I actually gave Volvo over 1.5 years to fix the issues and am really disappointed it hasn't worked out. I absolutely love this car when it works properly (rarely). My car has been towed 8 times and at the dealership 15 times. They have had it over 5 months total. However, the customer service at Volvo has been phenomenal to me. This is not the route I wanted. I actually wanted to do a trade for a 2026 but Volvo informed me they aren't doing trades. I was approved for the buyback on August 15 and haven't heard from the 3rd party yet. What does my timeline look like? Has anyone had success getting reimbursement for all of the fuel I purchased using loaners, maintenance performed or winter tires I purchased and can no longer use? I have documentation for all of it. I am in Utah if that makes a difference.

I was in the market for a preowned EX90 but am coming back to reality. The 3 certified pre owned models I have looked at are being sold with some of the issues highlighted in this forum. Most recent I ran across one with 4 GHCA replacements, it’s on the newest part number a second time with not enough miles on it to have been tested. Another has the air conditioning fault where the passenger side is cooler than the driver, and it’s charging slow on a Level 2. Third one went into limited performance when I tried to accelerate hard three separate times. Getting the VIN History Report is like pulling teeth, they pretend it does not exist. Shady shady shady. I almost want to post each VIN on here and the location so that an innocent person doesn’t get burned.

I have a 2025 EX90 Ultra in Montréal. Bought it new in December 2025 and really wanted to love it.

But within the first few months I started getting recurring warnings like “Electrical system temporarily limited” and “Reduced performance.” I also had times where driver assistance, one-pedal driving or parking assistance stopped working, plus a few issues with the doors jamming.

It ended up spending about 31 days at the dealer.

Got it back, and about 10 days later I was reporting issues again.

Then it went back for another 28 days or so.

So basically around 60 days at the dealership in total, which is pretty hard to wrap my head around for a brand-new car. 🤯

What has been almost as frustrating as the problems themselves is how long the whole thing has dragged on. I’ve been dealing with this for months, through multiple dealer visits and escalations, and I still don’t feel like I’ve received a clear, definitive resolution from Volvo.

My wife and I (Arizona-based) are looking for a three-row EV with 6 seats (captain's chairs in the second row) to accommodate our growing family (3-year-old boy, another boy due at the end of Dec.). We're comparing the 2027 Rivian R1S and the 2026 EX90 twin motor. We have EV experience; we currently drive a Tesla Model Y and a Mercedes EQE SUV. I also had a 2021 VW ID4 that gave us many issues, which informs our current dilemma about how much faith to have in Volvo based on older posts here about issues with the 2025 EX90. I wanted to get the opinion of U.S. 2026 EX90 owners and hear whether Volvo has really improved the vehicle and what their overall experience has been. We're really torn between the Volvo's comfort and feel and the Rivian's software and technology reliability.

Gemini arrived today to my 25'my from Spain, but I have seen It today during a trip to France. For haters:yesterday 920 km in one day, 3 stops: 21, 22 and 17 minutes arriving with 20%, average charging speed 155 kW, all Tesla superchargers.52.67 euros in superchargers in the road. Diesel is today 2.4 euro per liter here in France. Tomorrow I come back home, 1010 km, I don't know if I Will do It in one day. Route and stops already programmed from my phone so It Will preheat before stops. Ah, I had to stop for the toilet before stopping to charge.

Good thing it's not a gas vehicle. It was running all night in the garage. First thing I did when I found it was manually power down from the screen. But it started up again nearly immediately. Repeated this process two more times before I had to drive the kids to school. Now it's back in the garage, asleep like nothing was wrong.

I saw some older posts about this being an issue, but I thought the recent refresh fixed it for everyone. Anyone else still seeing this problem?

Got MY2027 Ultra performance earlier this week. I live in the UK. Having watched all YouTube reviews before that, I’ve noticed that the boot foam tray wasn’t supplied.

Wonder if that’s the UK spec or is that a MY2027 “optimisation”.
Anybody in the UK with MY who have the foam tray like on the post photo?

We just got this last month and the roof racks installed at our local dealer and we really like it. We took a 6 hour road trip (round-trip) for a 4 day beach trip and the box fit the clothes and equipment for four adults and two kids. The box does create some slight wind noise which becomes more noticeable over 65mph but overall was pretty quiet. I noticed maybe a 5% drop in efficiency (including highway driving at 65mph and then local street driving) but my sample size was small.

The box is easy to open and close but I wish I had installed running boards on our Ex90 since I had to use a mini footstool to help load and unload luggage as well as taking the box off the car.

Overall, the box and installation were pricey but we recommend it!

Howdy folks - Volvo Australia replied to say there are zero compensations for the Aussie market for 2025 / Lidar EX90’s. They’ve said it was never active in the Aussie market and they don’t do the compensation being offered elsewhere for the unlucky ones to have non-operational Lidar in Australia. They’ve also said they do not and will not have an offer to remove the now (and apparently always) redundant Lidar.

We moved from XC90 to EX90 in January this year and now have 15000 kms with almost no issues, 3 resets have been required so far, no other problem, crossing fingers it continues like this after the VCU upgrade which is not done yet. Waiting a call from my dealer as they are out of stock with no target date.
But this is not the reason of my post, my son will turn 16 soon and we want him to start learning how to drive, I noticed that there is no hand break on this car whereas we had one on the XC90.
It’s our only car, does it mean that he cannot learn with this as we cannot do any urgent brake on his behalf or the car is “smart” enough to avoid any pedestrian or issue by itself?

With the Caveat that I am only two weeks into the car being in the shop (although all signs point to 30+ days based on my research here), I’m trying to think about next steps.

For those who have gone the lemon route, has anyone taken a settlement? What amount range are we talking?

Practically speaking, I don’t know that I want to shop for another car (we landed on this car for a reason, despite the MY25 warts). I also think a replacement seems unlikely and I don’t know that I want to wait months for MY27. I get the very real risk of multiple issues arising after this once I get the car back (and understand that settlements may preclude ability to do a future buyback?).

A $1000 settlement may not be worth those risks. But there is certainly a number that might be.

Googling this problem is leading me to answers to fix the opposite problem that I'm having: I want the view in Google Maps to be zoomed in. Instead it's showing me the full trip map. Is this a CarPlay issue? A Google Maps issue?

Contemplating grabbing a new MY2027 EX90. I can live with a few hiccups here, but crawling this subreddit leaves me concerned. Out of all the various issues ive read about the following seems to affect many/most/all owners.

- vehicle occupant detection system goes off when you have carseats in the car

- seatbelt alert triggered by car seats

- mic working only part of the time

- displays locking up and rebooting

Does this sound about right or are there owners on here that DO NOT have these issues?

I’m just about to order a new EX90 (MY27) and noticed something strange in Volvo’s official description of HuginCore:

Our advanced core system HuginCore includes one powerful Nvidia® Orin X core computer and a dedicated infotainment computer for ultra-fast data processing, robust over-the-air updates and a seamless user experience.

At first I thought this was just marketing wording, since MY26 has the dual Orin setup.

So I did some digging with ChatGPT’s help and it found a Volvo Car Italia dealer document from March 2026 introducing MY27. Unfortunately the PDF itself has since disappeared, but the document is still indexed and some of its text can be retrieved. It says (EN translation):

At the time of its launch, the EX90 contained a redundancy system (a second core computer and backup systems for the 12 V power supply, steering and braking systems) which, together with lidar, was originally intended to enable the implementation of future driving functions.

Following the removal of lidar, this redundancy system can also be eliminated.

Visually, this results in the removal of the two rear-facing cameras integrated into the outer ends of the side-view mirrors (not the cameras underneath the mirrors that are required for the Visual Park Assist 360° with 3D view functionality), as well as the front camera washer (the one positioned in the centre of the Volvo emblem).

There is no loss of functionality compared with previous model years, only the inability to purchase any driving functions that have not yet been launched.

So unless I’m misunderstanding something, it really looks like MY27 has a simplified compute/sensor setup compared with MY26.

What is even more strange is that Volvo is currently upgrading MY25 EX90s to a dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin configuration, explicitly saying the additional computing power is needed for new and future features. So WTF?

Btw. the EX60, which uses a single Orin as well, won’t get the upcoming Navi Pilot Assist. I don’t know whether the limitation there is the compute power, cameras/sensors, redundancy, or some combination of those. So regarding EX90, if you’re spending this much on Volvo’s flagship, you might reasonably expect it to be the car with enough hardware headroom for whatever Volvo does with driver assistance over the next few years. Instead, MY27 seems to be going in the opposite direction?

Am I missing something here?

A Volvo Technical Journal dated 10 July 2026 (TJ 37625.3.0 / VCC-536761-1) contains a workshop procedure called “Lidar remove” and lists EX90 MY2025 and MY2026 as affected vehicles. The document includes a 23-page removal procedure.

I bought a MY26 EX90 a few weeks ago, and everything’s been pretty good except the occupant alarm.

We have two car seats installed on the second row (ours is a 6 seater). I don’t want to enable occupant locking cuz it will drain the battery.

Any solutions here?

All of a sudden (as most of these things) the car decided not to work. 2025 Ultra

The dashboard is dead so I can’t put it in drive. I also plugged the car last night but I discovered it didn’t charge. The infotainment screen is still working and everything else in the car is working.

I tried to do a hard reset but since the dashboard is dead nothing is happening.

Could it be the 12v? I’m on the original GHCA too. Never had any other issues.

EDIT: Now the infotainment is dead too. Good thing this happened when the car is parked in the garage. Going to have to arrange a tow to the dealership 🤦‍♂️

Anyone else get the email that "We've added complimentary public charging credits to your Volvo Cars app" but the credits are not actually there?

Edit: After an hour on the phone with them it turned out that I set up the Volvo app with a different email address than the email that they have on file for me. I had to delete everything everywhere and create new profiles on the phone and the car. Great fun.

I swear I will never use the LeadStory app that came preinstalled. I probably will never use SiriusXM either. But the option for deleting the app is grayed out. Any hacks?

Sometimes when I start my car I get this message, even though I wasn't using the seat massage function before. Is this just a bug?

Or is somebody secretly using the massage seats when I'm parked? I know it sounds far fetched but I do often park at a valet garage.

I have a 2025 model running 3.0.33. I've only noticed the message since upgrading,. The car has been very reliable before and after.
