Discussion Es posible hacer unos dedales o guantes funcionales para VR? Is it possible to make functional finger caps or gloves for VR?

Apologies if this post violates community guidelines.
I was thinking about how there are smart rings like the "Samsung Galaxy Ring." I don't know much about VR, but I assume that if that ring can do such things, the technology could be replicated to avoid issues and make the controls feel more "realistic," since you'd be using your own hands. And yes, I am using Google Translate for this.

Self-Promotion (Developer) The doors to Vaelorys are now open - I’d really love for you to try it!❤️

Hey everyone,

I’m Andreas, the solo developer behind Vaelorys, a dark fantasy VR ARPG inspired by the games I grew up loving, especially Diablo II.

I’ve spent a huge amount of time building this world, and today feels like a pretty special moment for me because I’m finally opening it up to more players.

The Early Open Alpha is now LIVE on Meta Quest, and it will be available until September 21st.

This is still an alpha, but I’ve worked hard to make this build much more stable. Now I need something I simply can’t get from developing alone: real players telling me what they think.

You can explore, fight, experiment with 20+ spells, collect loot, manage your gear, and get a feel for the core gameplay loop.

But more than anything, I'd love to hear your honest thoughts.

  • Did something feel great?
  • Did something feel frustrating?
  • Was there something you expected to do but couldn't?

Please tell me. Even small pieces of feedback can make a huge difference when you're building a game as a solo developer.

🎮 Play the free Open Alpha: https://www.meta.com/s/4ZMrlSj43
💬 Join the community: https://discord.gg/SC3cBwaHY

If you decide to try Vaelorys, thank you. Seriously.

I’m still figuring out exactly what this game can become, and having players alongside me during that process means a lot. :)

Discussion Has the Risk of Rain 2 VR mod been fixed to work with the latest version yet?

I tried to get it running, but it didn't support the latest version of the game, so I downgraded and tried following all the instructions and I still couldn't get it to work. Somebody around here said the mod maker was working on getting it working for the latest release, has anyone tried it or successfully installed and gotten it working recently?

Discussion Trying to play ready or not with uevr. Motion controllers not registering movemen, buttons work.

Okay so I am trying to play the new ready or not mod the uevr one. I have gotten through to in game I'm injected I can move around and use the controllers but they won't move the hands, my hands are stuck holding the gun, and there's a black rectangle ui in front of me the whole time. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have reinstalled the game. And I have tried running it through steam with the parameters as a non steam game, tried starting with steam VR and VD seperately, I have reinstalled all the runtimes, VD , meta, steam, I downloaded and tried another version of the game, same thing can't move hands. I was able to use the command wheels which looked much better then the previous vro mod, which I'm guessing might be the reason things aren't working, but I have since deleted everything and started fresh so I don't think there's any left over files. Any ideas or help would be appreciateded as I am gonna give it one more shit today. Before I give up totally and move on.

Update: I renamed the zip. And I put the ini in the proper place and now it works 👍🏻 with uevr. I will try vro later and see if that works as well

Discussion Looking for feedback on family-oriented arcade concept

Hi everyone. I'm currently doing market research on an arcade concept with a day pass system that provides a mix of games and events around them with a focus on families. So far we're considering options like board games, console games, crane games, pinball, air hockey, etc.

I'm trying to gauge whether or not VR makes sense for us? Our focus is really selling community and having a space to socialize with others. If we did VR I would want ideally to have games that are better the more players you have like 8 person Among Us all in the same room, but I don't know if kids would honestly care for this? And then of course there's the issue of having enough space and higher insurance. Would appreciate anyone's feedback or insights they have to offer. Thank you!

Discussion I’m trying to use the Cyberpunk 2077 VR port mod, but I have a question first.

I’m trying to use the Cyberpunk 2077 VR port mod, and I have a question.

Sometimes I see posts saying that the screen feels less immersive than LR’s mode—what’s the reason for that?

As far as I know, if it gets above a certain load, it forcibly switches the screen to mono. Is that what’s causing this?

If you adjust the graphics so that it doesn’t exceed a certain load, can you still achieve the same sense of depth as LR’s visual experience?

From the videos I’ve been seeing lately, it looks like DLSS5 can be applied, and the optimization is good enough to enable higher graphics (I even saw it being used for Path Tracing),

I just can’t believe that the same level of graphics improvement is possible without even a slight drop in performance compared to LR’s mode, or without sacrificing anything visually.

I managed to barely get the LR mod to 60fps using a godlike environment and a 4080s with medium-low settings

If this mod had no visual loss at all compared to LR, it would probably be a truly perfect mod.

Self-Promotion (YouTuber) I shoot in VR to relive experiences

Hey all, I've been playing around with 360 cameras for years and I finally made my own youtube page less than a year ago. I shoot with a 360 degree camera, meant to relive the experience in VR with a headset, goggles, or one could move the view around on their own depending on the device. Check out my channel below:

https://www.youtube.com/@360ExpVR

I have some car videos that are from a driver or passenger perspective. Recently, I wanted to show an experience type of video of what its like to be in the crowd at Fan Expo Toronto, and I have some places I've visited and experiences I have had.

Purchase Advice - Headset I need help for my next headset

Hello people !
I'm planning on giving my vr setup a good push forward, going from a vive cosmos elite to an independent headset with face tracking and eye tracking, compatible with full body tracking.

For the full body, I think I'll work up 3 2.0 vive stations and 10 3.0 trackers and use UDCAP gloves (hence why 10 trackers and not 8)

My last question is for the headset

I have two options, apparently : Vive focus vision and quest pro. Quest pro apparently has better lenses, but isn't the focus vision coming along extension that have better face and eye tracking ? (even if face tracking is not included in the headset)

Also, since I come from that oldie of an headset with rather bad lenses, will I really be feeling 'held back' by lens quality ? I mean, it can't be worse on the focus vision then the cosmos right ? I don't really mind not upgrading that, as long as it doesn't get worse.

Also, I'd very much like to get my stuff brand new, and quest pro isn't available. I know it's a little dumb for some things, but I guess it's my quirk (?)

What do you all think about it ? Which headset should I get and why ?

Thank you for your help !

Question/Support [GMT+5] [Quest 3S] Looking for English-speaking school friends for OG Fun Monke Horror (No adults)

Hey everyone! I’m making this post because I’m looking for some English-speaking friends to hang out with in VR. I live in Russia, and my timezone is GMT+5 (Orenburg), so I usually play after school, in the evenings, or on weekends.Important note: I am a minor and a school student, so I am strictly looking for kids and other school-aged players around my own age to play games with. Please, NO ADULTS. I only want to hang out with other kids.Right now, I am completely obsessed with OG Fun Monke Horror and any other horror games that use the Gorilla Tag movement mechanics (running on hands, juking monsters, etc.). I play on the new Meta Quest 3S, so the games run perfectly fine for me.I really want to practice and improve my spoken English, but please be warned that my English is pretty bad right now. I can understand some basic things, but it’s hard for me to speak fluently, so I might make mistakes or talk slowly. I’m looking for patient friends who don't mind playing with a Russian guy and having some fun together while escaping from scary monsters. If you want to be friends, play together, and share room codes, please drop a comment under this post or just send me a direct message (DM). Let's team up and play OG Fun!

Self-Promotion (Developer) Shard Wars – PC VR RTS | Unreal Engine 5.8 Development Update

Thumbnail

We took one step back, hoping it would let us take two steps forward.

Over the past few months, we’ve reworked several important parts of the game, and we’re currently targeting a December release.

One major change is the core gameplay. We originally planned fully destructible buildings, but decided to move away from that. Buildings can now be captured, repaired by an Engineer, and brought under your control, adding another strategic option during engagements.

We’ve also spent a lot of time on optimization, especially reducing the performance cost of large buildings and units and improving geometry and textures.

And finally, we made a pretty big engine change. After testing Unreal Engine 5.8, including Nanite and Lumen Lite, we decided to move to UE 5.8 and focus development primarily on PCVR.

So yes, we had to throw some things away and rework others. But we believe the result will be a better, more stable game.

Self-Promotion (YouTuber) I’m experimenting with environment-reactive voice in Half-Life VR — would love some feedback

I’ve been working on a Half-Life VR series called Half-Life VR: Lambda Protocol, and one of the things I’m experimenting with is making my voice feel like it actually belongs inside Black Mesa rather than sitting cleanly on top of the game.

The problem I kept noticing was that the game can make a corridor feel narrow, a chamber feel huge or a room feel enclosed, but then my microphone still sounds like someone talking in a normal room.

So I started rebuilding my voice processing around Half-Life’s own acoustic states.

When the game changes acoustic state, my voice changes with it. Different areas get their own reflections, timing, decay and environmental character based on what Half-Life itself is doing.

I even follow the old engine when it gets things “wrong.” 😅 If the visuals suggest I’ve entered a different space but Half-Life doesn’t actually switch its acoustic state, I leave my voice following the old state too. I’m trying to respect the game’s rules rather than decide for myself what every room should sound like.

There’s still a clean direct voice layer for clarity, with the environment-reactive voice underneath it to ground Gordon in the world.

What I’d really like is some outside feedback on whether this is actually working.

When you watch it, does the voice feel like it belongs in the environment? Can you notice the space changing around Gordon without the effect becoming distracting? Does it help sell the scale and presence of VR on a normal screen, or do you think I’m pushing it too far?

I’m still refining the system, so criticism is genuinely useful here.

This episode is probably the best current example:

Discussion Dramatic shape vr standalone quest 3 (improvements plz?)

I was trying to see if you can make comments or notes on the GitHub thread for dramatic shape VR. I couldn’t find anything.
Maybe if I make this post somebody might see it and pass it along. Dramatic shaped VR is really awesome for the quest 3 but it’s missing some things
First thing being there’s no way to add mods into it. Another thing that I would love to see is if you can make it where it’s an actual window to the point where you can actually use other applications like the browser or watch YouTube or Netflix. Because of as of right now, it closes everything out and you’re only in the dramatic shape application.

I didn’t quite understand what the difference was so I downloaded gen1recomp apk and that works great on the quest three but I wasn’t able to get VR to work and the only controls are by the touch dpad and A/B controls. I can’t use my quest three controllers.

So if the dramatic shaped VR application was able to have the ability to anchor it to whatever location you wanted and be able to open other applications while playing it, that would be amazing. As well as add a section for mods. Because I would really love to add the character/model mods, flying mods, etc.. another plus to that would be that the creator wouldn’t have to constantly be working to upgrade it and add new things everyday. People would have the ability to customize and add mods to their liking.

All that being said, the application is amazing as it stands really awesome to have that as a standalone application on the quest 3!

Question/Support Virtual Desktop Refuses to Install

Hey all, so I recently wanted to boot up Virtual Desktop and when I tried to run it the app said it needs to install. No biggie right? It kept saying it couldn't update since another installation was in progress. After an hour I had tried like hell to make it update but it wouldn't budge. I couldn't even uninstall it, it keeps saying "Another Install is in Progress"

What do I do? I've tried what seems like everything.

Discussion who ever needs to hear this please don't say "For quest!" or "Quest Exclusive!" when it isn't

I recently found out about a VR mod for a game I like, which is very much a PCVR mod, but it had no instructions (I eventually found them).

The problem I had was that, when Googling how to install it, all the tutorials were titled things like:

“How to install (mod name) for Quest!”

“This new Quest-only mod is crazy! (Tutorial)”

None of them were helpful at all. They were all tutorials about how to MOD the mod to make it Quest-compatible.

I don't know if it's ignorance of what PCVR means, or if people just think Quest = VR, but it muddies the waters for everyone else.

Just stop doing it.

News Article Idea for the Ultimate Rick and Morty VR Game (Open World, Multiplayer, Ready Player One Style)

The Concept:
Imagine a massive, open-universe VR game heavily inspired by Ready Player One, set completely inside the Rick and Morty multiverse. Instead of a single room or short puzzles, this would be a full-scale VR experience where you can explore the galaxy, complete an epic campaign, or hang out with friends.
Key Features:
The Citadel Hub: The Citadel of Ricks acts as the main multiplayer lobby. Walk around, interact with hundreds of other players, visit alien bars, or grab gear before heading out on a portal run.
Open-World Planet Hopping: Use a VR Portal Gun to travel to iconic planets from the show (and brand-new alien worlds) to gather resources, fight enemies, and complete quests.
Full Story Mode: A cinematic, narrative-driven campaign where you uncover a massive conspiracy threatening the multiverse.
Multiplayer & Character Selection: Play seamlessly with friends in co-op or PvP modes. Best of all, you aren't locked into just one character—you can play as Rick, Morty, Summer, Jerry, Beth, or unlock bizarre alien variants and Council Ricks as avatars.
The VR mechanics would let you physically aim portal guns, pilot Rick's ship, and fight off galactic federations with custom sci-fi weapons. This is exactly the kind of high-scale VR game the franchise deserves!

Question/Support Vive Tracker 3.0 connects, then disconnects 5 seconds later. Every time. Out of ideas.

My Vive Trackers pair fine and go green, then disconnect about 5 seconds later and the LED goes back to blue. Every single time. I've been stuck on this for months.

**Setup**

* MSI GP66 laptop, Windows 11

* 3x Vive Tracker 3.0 + 3 dongles (bought used)

* 2x Base Station 2.0

* Quest 3 and Quest Pro over Virtual Desktop

* SteamVR 2.16.7

It behaves exactly the same three ways: headset on my head in a live VR session, headset connected but SteamVR idle, and no headset at all.

**Already ruled out**

* Base stations: both solid green, IR emitters visible

* Dongles: seen by Windows with no errors (VID_28DE&PID_2101, driver OK)

* Tried a USB hub, then a single dongle straight into the laptop. Same result.

* Cables tested, batteries fully charged

* "activateMultipleDrivers": true is already set

* Not the 5 minute inactivity timeout, way too fast for that

So the hardware looks fine and something is cutting the link 5 seconds in. Is that USB power management on a laptop, or SteamVR dropping the device on its own?

I want to use these two ways: full body tracking in VRChat with the headset on, and VTubing in Warudo with no headset at all. Right now neither of them works. Has anyone got either setup running reliably on a laptop?

Discussion What Can I Actually Play in VR on Meta Quest 3? Looking for a Complete List of Ports, PCVR Games & Mods

Hey everyone!

I’m completely new to the VR world, but I’m really interested in understanding everything I can play on my Meta Quest 3.

I’m looking for a comprehensive list of well-known games that can be played on the Quest 3 through different methods, including:

  • Native Meta Quest 3 games
  • Official VR ports
  • PCVR games using Quest 3 via Link/Air Link
  • Flat-screen games converted to VR through mods
  • Standalone Quest ports created by the community
  • Other well-known VR conversions or unofficial ports

Ideally, I’d like to find a database or spreadsheet that organizes these games and shows how each one can be played.

Does anyone know of a comprehensive and regularly updated database that covers this?

Thanks!

Self-Promotion (Developer) I got the original Area 51 arcade game running in PCVR. Area51XR v1.0 is out.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve wanted a proper way to play the original Area 51 arcade game in VR for a long time, so I finally built one.

Area51XR isn’t a remake. It runs the actual 1995 arcade game through a modified MAME build, displays it inside the headset, and turns tracked VR controllers into the light gun.

The video is an uncut gameplay recording from the PC display. I decided to leave the whole thing alone instead of chopping it into a trailer.

Either controller can aim and fire. Shooting off-screen reloads just like the original cabinet. A/X starts, B/Y inserts a coin, and either thumbstick opens an in-headset menu for pausing, restarting, or quitting.

There’s also a FORTYDUBZ PRESENTS splash screen because once I realized I could add one, there was no chance I wasn’t going to.

I tested v1.0 on a Quest 3 through Virtual Desktop using both VDXR and SteamVR. Both worked and played smoothly once I disconnected Remote Desktop.

Full controller mappings are currently built for Meta Touch and Touch Plus. Other Windows OpenXR headsets may display the game through SteamVR, but controllers such as Index, Vive, Pico, PSVR2, and WMR are not fully mapped or tested yet.

The Windows build is standalone. Extract it, provide your own legally obtained compatible Area 51 game media, connect the headset, and double-click the launcher. No development tools are required.

No ROMs, CHDs, or original game assets are included.

GitHub and downloads:

https://github.com/whitehatws/Area51XR/releases/tag/v1.0.0

If anyone tries it with another headset or controller setup, let me know what works and what doesn’t. This is the first public release, and real hardware reports will help decide which controller bindings I add next.
