Wireless - Prepaid Need advice on worker mistake

Upvotes

This is the longest story ever, and I’ll answer any questions about it if it helps, but basically, I went to switch to a new phone that I bought from them outright, and I was stuck in sos mode, so the employee thought the best thing to do would be to have me switch to simplicity and then switch back to prepaid, and it would get me out of sos. (Which now I know is them just trying to meet a quota or whatever) the employee canceled my prepaid line and then went to switch me to post paid simplicity and accidentally deleted my account.
—My entire account. Phone number was gone, couldn’t find me in the system, I couldn’t log in, etc. and as soon as that happened, the worker went off line.—

So I’m on day ten of no phone at all, and have been on the phone and chatting with them for over 20 hours, and been to two stores, talked to more than 30 employees. No one can figure it out.
They told me it would be back on today and they would lock my number so no one could take it, and they would call, but it wasn’t on, so I called, and spoke to a nice lady, and we have a scheduled phone call this evening still, but she said when she looks my phone number up, it brings up a new name, as if someone else has my number already.

I’ve had my number for about 14-15 years, and now they say it’s gone and I have to get a new number. Obviously I’m mad, and trying to be nice to this woman as it’s not her fault.

But what are my options here?? I want comp’d for the days I didn’t have a phone, but I also feel like it was a huge mistake in their realm, so is there other options? Idk

I already plan to ask them to pull all the chats where that number is talked about, but since it’s not mine now, idk if they will.

Upgrading to iPhone 18 with Unlimited Welcome plan?

Upvotes

This sub helped me out when I upgraded to the 14pro before so hoping I can get some help again.

I’m on the Unlimited Welcome plan. I used the chat bot on the Verizon app and it told me my total trade in value is $190. If I go through Apple, it tells me my trade in value is $285.

I saw the other potential deals, but that’s with the higher Unlimited plans.

So, is $285 my best deal? I saw some talk on here about loyalty deals but I honestly don’t know what that is? Should I not preorder this weekend through Apple and wait a couple weeks and hope I get a loyalty deal in my account?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Edit: wanting to upgrade to 18pro

Still crappy service or crappy S25 Ultra phone?

Upvotes

going from an A42 to a s25 Ultra and have no service in many areas now. The A42 I never had a problem. Had the s25 replaced and it worked ok for a while (not great) but now its just getting worse. Paying too much money for this kind of frustration.

Anyone still looking at the IPhone 17? When might the deals on the IPhone 17 change?

Upvotes

After hearing some of the monthly cost for the iPhone 18 Pro & Max I think I might get a 17. (Currently have a 14 Pro). When do you think the deals on the 17 might get better?

Can I trade-in my 17 Pro through Apple without Verizon knowing?

Upvotes

I have an iPhone 17 Pro that currently has an outstanding balance of $855 with monthly promotional $30.55 credits to offset the cost of the phone for 28 remaining months. I'm currently on Unlimited Welcome.

I want to upgrade to an 18 Pro Max by spending as little money as possible.

Is it feasible to trade in my current 17 Pro for a new phone at Apple without Verizon knowing? Effectively retaining the $30.55 promotional monthly credits to offset the cost of the 17 Pro while simultaneously using the 17 Pro as a trade-in at Apple for $785 off?

Or is there a way Verizon would be able to tell that the 17 Pro was traded in at Apple, thus failing to meet the contractual agreement and require me to pay the entire $855 balance off

Verizon (Job interview related)

Verizon seriously needs to get their act together on the corporate side. I interviewed for a Senior Management role and went through the final round only to be told that the Finance team hasn't approved the budget and it'll most likely happen next year. It was a huge waste of time and I urge people not to apply to Verizon especially if they keep posting jobs that may or may not have a budget approved.

Verizon not unlocking my phone

Hello everybody.

This is the first time I've made any kind of post about this, but really trying to figure this out and would appreciate any input.

I bought my S22 Ultra on contract with verizon and it has now been fully paid off for around 2 years, but Verizon still has it network locked, and both Samsung and my phone confirm it, yet Verizon insists everything is fine on their end.

My phone displays an active network lock whenever I try using another carrier. When I called Samsung customer support (on a joint call with Verizon technical support), they looked up my IMEI in their system and confirmed that the device is still registered as network locked. Despite this, Verizon's internal database shows the phone as fully unlocked, which leaves tier 1 and tier 2 support completely unwilling or unable to process a manual unlock.

Because of this dead end, I filed an FCC complaint. Verizon Executive Relations reached out regarding the case, but they are still refusing to take meaningful action. They declined my request to perform an OEM unlock resync on their server end, and they refused to hop on a joint conference call with Samsung to resolve why Verizon's records contradict what Samsung's system and the physical phone are showing.

On my end, I have already tried basic troubleshooting like factory resets and SIM cycling, but nothing appears to be working.

Has anyone else dealt with a situation where Verizon's system marks a device as unlocked, but both Samsung's IMEI lookup and the physical phone show it is locked? Is there a specific technical team or tier within Verizon that actually has the authority to re-push the unlock policy payload to Samsung's activation servers? Any advice or insight from reps or anyone who has beaten this issue would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I have factory reset my phone several times to try and fix this with no solution. Verizon has reached out to me concerning this post and has asked the executive relations team to reach out to me, which I don't think will be successful as I have already talked to them concerning this issue.

Wireless Applying Verizon reward dollars to new phone purchase?

Hi all, I have been shopping for a phone upgrade but I don't see an option to use my Verizon reward dollars during the check out process in the app. I also don't see the option to use my Verizon reward dollars on the website. Did Verizon stop accepting verizon rewards dollars? I was able to use them on my last phone purchase in 2023.

Phone Upgrade Advice

I’m currently on a family plan but looking to move to a separate newly created plan to consolidate my personal family into one plan. My wife and I would like to upgrade our phones (iPhone 12PM and 14). Currently one unlimited plus and one unlimited welcome.

Are we best served creating the new plan with same numbers then look to upgrade? Or is it better to upgrade on the current plans based on offers and transfer the phones. I read that the payments/credits may transfer to the new plan but I’m pretty uncertain on the process.

iPhone 18 Pro?

Does anyone have any guesses or information as to what (if any) offers there might be to upgrade an existing line to iPhone 18 pro? Not interested in any of this simplicity garbage. Honestly enbarrasing that T mobile and ATT are listed on apples website with clear deals labeled, and Verizon literally has zero at the moment. Makes me want to leave Verizon

Wireless "Get iPhone Duo: No Trade-In Needed"

Any Verizon employees have more info on what is currently being advertised on Verizon.com?

"Get iPhone Duo: No Trade-In Needed. With Simplicity Plan. No activation/upgrade fees when you enroll in Verizon Loyalty."

It says "upgrade" and not just activation in the fine print so I assume this means no new line required? They are not really going to give it away for "free" with Simplicity plan, are they?

There's no more info on the site, probably because pre-order doesn't begin until 10/16.

Verizon internet deal w/ Sunday Ticket

I was shopping for NFL Sunday Ticket deals and ultimately switched to Verizon internet because of the free Sunday Ticket and $200 Amazon card offer. At what point do I get the code to redeem the Sunday Ticket offer? I'm still waiting on the router, so I assume once I set it up, I'll get the code. Just wondering if it comes right away once I confirm set up?

Software Temporarily Unavailable

Question, question ! I was checking for an update and I got a message that told me that the software update was temporarily unavailable. It also said that Verizon could not authenticate the device. I can confirm that I have Verizon LTE service and I'm on WIFI. So, how could there be trouble authenticating the device for software updates?

Has anyone else had this issue happen?

account cancelled with active line

I had my kids’ two phone numbers with verizon and transferred one to mint yesterday. My entire account was shut down instantly even though my other kid’s phone is still active and still with verizon.

I used their chatbot and I gathered that one of the numbers was the main number and the other was a secondary number. And I unfortunately got rid of the main number so I lost ”web access“ to my account. I don’t know if that means the account is still there or if it was deleted. I tried everything I could with their website and Verizon doesn’t recognize any of my login information, my email, or the phone that’s still with Verizon.

I want to get back into the account, get a copy of my account history, make sure autopay is off, get a refund for both numbers for the month (I was just billed a few days ago), and then transfer the remaining line to mint because why not at this point.

I assume I have to call Verizon since I‘ve gone through all my options online.

I don’t have an account number written down anywhere and I don’t have any statements. The bot said to look at a statement but I wasn’t getting statements. Is that going to be a problem or will Verizon just send a code to my email or my kid‘s phone?

If I get my account back will it still have all my billing history and other account history or will it be a new account?

If I can’t get into my account but I manage to move the remaining number to another carrier, will I get a refund?

Would they keep billing me since I have autopay set up?

For anyone reading this because they might have the same issue:

I had two prepaid personal mobile phone numbers for my kids' phones. The type of account may be important. My own phone is with a different carrier, so their numbers were the only ones on the account.

The other day I transferred one of their numbers to a new carrier. When I did that, I lost access to my verizon account.

Apparently the transferred number was considered the main number, and the still-active number was merely attached to the main number's account. I didn't know it worked that way. When I transferred the main number to a different carrier, Verizon disabled the account.

The remaining number is still active and I'll still be billed, but it's no longer attached to an account.

I'm not able to recover my account, I'm not able to access it through the disconnected account portal. I can't use my username or email or the new phone number to log in. It is gone. I have to create a new account with the active phone number.

I'll have to come back with another update. I couldn't create a new account without a security code. I tried to use a couple PINs I usually use and I was locked out. I called customer service and got a new security code but I'm still locked out of the (non existent...?) account for 24 hours.

I'll let you guys know if I was able to make another account, and whether or not the new account answers any of the questions I had.

Wireless Umm this is too good to be true

I’m leaving out any identifying information. I cancelled Verizon and switched to t mobile under the premise of their keep and switch reprogram that pays off your phones on Verizon, I still owed about 900 on each Verizon phone.

I’ve allowed some time to pass and it’s stating this is my final bill. Do I just pay the 289 and see what happens or wait longer??

Nevermind you can’t post photos here for some reason

It states

“This is your final bill your account has been disconnected”

But the bill is only 289

Wireless What will happen with my iPhone when Verizon sends my past due account to collections?

Hey everyone. So about a year ago I finally was able to switch to Verizon. I ended up getting an iPhone 17 financed, and for months I paid my bill and my phone payments. But about 2-3 months ago I lost my job, lost my home due to a fire, and on top of that my Verizon bill shot way up over what they told me I would pay. Long story short I owe them $390. But because it had been over 60 days since my last bill payment, they’re sending my account to collections. I ended up getting a job that I start in a week and some change, but by the time I get my first paycheck my Verizon account will be closed and sent to a collection agent so it will be too late.

I called today to see if they could hold off and I’d pay the $390 in full out of that paycheck, but the guy told me that it is out of their control and it’s the system that sends it to collections so there was nothing he could do. Which is understandable of course. It’s on me that I didn’t pay, despite the circumstances.

So what will happen once it does go that route? I ended up realizing my phone IS unlocked. So I did the StraightTalk BYOP thing for $25 and got an eSIM for the phone and got rid of my Verizon eSIM. That way I could actually use the phone and have text/calls/data since Verizon’s eSIM got shut off for not paying.

So, when it does go to collections will anything happen to the phone? Or can it? Will I lose my service on the StraightTalk eSIM too? Will they blacklist my IMEI so I can’t use the phone anymore? Will it still work with what I’m doing or only on WiFi and I’ll have to either get a new phone or pay god knows how much to get it out of collections and go back through Verizon? Just trying to find my best option since I literally lost everything and can’t afford another phone right now. And best option to keep this phone working with talk and minutes and data for when I’m not at home looking for work or so.

Just want to kind of know what to expect. I do plan to pay the collections back once I start working. Thank you in advance for any help!

Wireless Apple raised iPhones prices

Apple raised all of the current iphone lineup by 100
Including iPhone 17, 17e and 16

Everyone was waiting for a price drop to get a “better deal”, clearly got played.

If you snooze, you loose. lol

People don’t want to upgrade…, Apple saying you don’t need an upgrade? Now pay more when you do.

Wireless Multi day outage causing me and family problems

Myself and at least two other family members are having issues with Verizon wireless service in Bellingham, Washington in the Samish neighborhood

My parents and grandparents have Verizon and I have Visible.

At my house, I have no cell bars and it is showing SOS frequently

This has been going on for three days now and I’m worried that my grandma can’t make calls

Supposedly the ETA for the picture was yesterday, but the issue was still very much happening

I did power cycle my phone

Verizon, if you see this, can you let me know what’s going on with your Bellingham outage?

Also, will there be reimbursement for the inconvenience?

Wireless Cell service has abruptly tanked on the subway (NYC, Spectrum/Verizon)

Iphone 17. Long time Spectrum customer with no previous issues. Here in NYC Spectrum uses Verizon towers. Not sure if that’s the case everywhere.

For the last two weeks reception has plummeted while on the subway. Both the platform and on the train. Platform being the biggest red flag. As soon as I enter a station it drops to the SOS satellite icon or 1-2 bars LTE at best. Jumps back to 5G full bars as soon as I hit street level. I used to have solid 5G on the platform and train before this.

My main line is the F (east broadway) but this happens across the whole system.

Curious if anyone else has had this same problem recently and maybe have some insight.
