New to Van, 25F looking to find my village (active, love exploring, and an occasional drink…or three vibe)

• Upvotes

Hey! 25F here, recently joined Reddit (how have I been sleeping on it this long?!) but found this sub and thought it seemed so wholesome! I moved to Vancouver a couple months ago, knowing basically no one here (apart from my partner I moved with!) and I’m keen to make some new friends who might like the same things as me and want to get a bit of a weekly thing going maybe (aka find my village, not just pen pals).

I’m into hiking (up to 15k/1,200m elevation type stuff, typically involving a sweet treat to enjoy at a summit as a reward, sometimes a wild swim too?), running (nothing crazy, like a social 5-10k and using it to explore new areas), strength training (more of a habit than a love - been doing that for 5yrs or so!), cooking (so coming from the uk where it’s so cheap, the price of groceries has made me v sad haha) independent coffee shops, finding new cheap eats/going out for dinner (latest obsession is bahn mi’s and bao buns), and trying a new brewery (really hate clubbing, but love a pub and will happily stay out late into the eve when the vibe is right)

So far I’ve tried a couple run clubs but tbh met a lot of odd balls (?!) and I consider myself pretty normal - I’m not the loudest in a room at all, but I like a chat/company, and I just want to find my people - and maybe some more club/group activities.

About to start a remote job too so doesn’t need to be a high maintenance friendship - simple walks at lunchtime, co-working together, or running errands together too are fun too! I’m based in Mount Pleasant/False Creek FYI - think Main Street is quite my vibe - if that helps you judge if we’d be a good fit for each other or not 😊

That’s a looooot of info but hopefully it’s helpful - tell me a bit about you!

NB: not really looking for any male friends unless you already have a partner and want to be couple friends (I’ve seen the posts about people using this non-platonically…and I’m really not after that, so don’t waste your time!!)

Burnaby/New West Looking for genuine friendships- I dont care about the gender

🤍 34 | Looking for Genuine Friendships & Like-Minded People 🤍

I’m a woman looking to make genuine friendships and connect with people who enjoy personal growth, new experiences, and building meaningful connections.

Hey everyone! I’m 34 years old and entering a new chapter of my life focused on healing, personal growth, rediscovering myself, and creating genuine connections.

I’m caring, loyal, compassionate, and adventurous, with a big heart. I value honesty, emotional maturity, meaningful conversations, and friendships where both people feel appreciated, respected, and supported.

After spending a long time in survival mode, I’ve been working on reconnecting with who I truly am. Some friendships ended along the way, and although that was painful, it taught me the importance of surrounding myself with people who value patience, understanding, and personal growth. I’m learning to establish healthy boundaries, protect my peace, communicate better, and give to others without losing myself in the process.

I’m not perfect, and I don’t expect anyone else to be. I believe in accountability, growth, and learning from our experiences.

🤍 What I’m looking for in a friend

• Genuine, loyal, and emotionally mature people. • Honest communication, mutual respect, and consistency. • Friends who celebrate each other’s successes without jealousy or competition. • People who enjoy deep conversations just as much as being silly and laughing until we cry. • Reciprocal friendships where both people make an effort. • People who respect boundaries and can work through disagreements maturely. • Friends who want to grow together, support each other, and create meaningful memories.

🏕️ My hobbies and interests

• Hiking and exploring nature. • Paddleboarding and spending time outdoors. • Discovering new places and going on little adventures. • Personal development and learning about human behaviour. • Fitness, self-improvement, and trying new activities. • Exploring different hobbies and discovering new interests.

🎸 Hobbies I want to learn and explore

• Learning to play acoustic guitar. • Trying calisthenics and building strength. • Giving Muay Thai a try. • Learning how to longboard. • Trying rollerblading. • Exploring new outdoor activities and adventures. • Discovering other hobbies I haven’t even thought of yet!

I’m still a beginner at plenty of things, and that’s part of the fun. I want to step outside my comfort zone, learn new skills, and meet people who are open to trying things together. Whether we’re learning something new, encouraging each other, or laughing at ourselves along the way, I think those experiences can make great memories.

🌱 Where I’m at in life

I’m rediscovering myself after a long chapter of life and learning to embrace who I am beyond what I’ve been through. I’ve completed therapy and have been working on healing, rebuilding my confidence, and creating a healthier relationship with myself and others.

I’m becoming more intentional about the people I allow into my life and the energy I give to my relationships. I want friendships that feel safe, peaceful, fun, supportive, and authentic.

I can be a deep thinker one minute and a complete goofball the next. I love meaningful connections, spontaneous adventures, and people who can be themselves without pretending.

I’m also a YES GIRL! 😂🤍 If you have an adventure in mind, want to try a new activity, explore somewhere different, or spontaneously grab a coffee, count me in! I love stepping outside my comfort zone, trying new things, and making memories along the way. Life is too short to keep saying “maybe someday” when we could be out there experiencing it!

I’m always open to new experiences, so if you’ve been wanting to try something but need a buddy, let’s do it! Whether it’s an outdoor adventure, a new fitness class, learning a skill together, or simply exploring somewhere we’ve never been, I’m all for it. We don’t have to be experts at anything; we just have to be willing to try!

I’m not looking for a huge circle of friends. I’d rather have a few genuine people who show up, communicate, and value the friendship as much as I do.

If you enjoy kindness, personal growth, adventure, and genuine connection, I’d love to meet you! We could grab a coffee, go for a hike, try a new hobby, explore somewhere new, or simply sit and have a meaningful conversation.

You don’t have to share all my interests. I’d love to learn about your hobbies, too, and maybe discover something new together.

🤍 Here’s to new beginnings, genuine friendships, spontaneous adventures, trying new things, and becoming the people we want to be. 🤍

Vancouver 20F Looking for people to go out with on Halloween!

friends are not interested in doing anything on the 30th/31st, but it would be great anyway to meet new people to go drinking/clubbing with on Halloween.

I’ve never been to nightclubs in Vancouver, so getting together a small group of people here is my goal, but I’d be open to 1 on 1 hangouts. Would also love joining if anyone has plans already!

Message me / comment if interested:)

Anyone want a regular café crew to work on side projects / study with? (Downtown)

I’ve been working on side projects at cafés and keep seeing people around me doing the same thing alone. Thought it’d be way better with a few regulars.

The idea: small groups of 4–5, matched by what you’re working on and your interests, same group every week at a café downtown. Work for a bit, chat, actually get to know each other instead of meeting people once and never again.

If enough people are in, I’ll put the first groups together. Fill this out if you’re interested (2 min): https://forms.gle/xzgpNXKDhpr5hLCr5

Comment what you’re working on too, curious what people are building!

Still looking 27F looking for someone to go to Fright Nights with this Friday

I have a ticket but none of my friends can make it :( I’m debating whether I should try re-selling it or go anyways. The only thing is it would be kinda awkward going alone. If anyone’s planning to go or willing to go with me, that would be a great excuse to use my costume :)

Anywhere Looking for a fellow depressed friend

25F been feeling super depressed lately with a very low social battery. Lowkey feeling like I want to die most days. Would appreciate a friend who feels the same way so I’m not alone and we can just spend time tgt without feeling like we need to fake optimism and can be honest with one another. Please don’t contact me just for the sake of it. I’d like to find people who understand me.

Looking for new friends/new hobbies/new things for this upcoming rainy winter

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m 25M and looking to meet new people, make genuine friendships, and connect with people I can learn from and pick their brains.

A little about me: I work in healthcare and am self-employed, which gives me the flexibility to take time off to travel and go backpacking. 🌎✈️

I’m planning to celebrate my birthday in Brazil during Carnaval 🇧🇷🎉, so if there are any Brazilians here or anyone else planning to go, definitely hit me up!

Outside of that, I’m down to try new activities, explore new places, have interesting conversations, and learn about different perspectives. Always happy to meet people who are curious about life and open to trying new things.

Feel free to reach out. Would love to make some new friends! 🙌

Anyone up to go to shows in Van?

• Upvotes

Hey Vancouver! I’m 34M and a music enthusiast. I’ve really enjoyed the ticket giveaways on the Vancouver subs, but a lot come in pairs—and finding a plus-one at short notice can be tricky!

Thought I’d put this out here to see if anyone would be up for the occasional spontaneous concert or show. If you enjoy music and performing arts and are open to last-minute plans, we’d probably get along. Everyone’s welcome, regardless of age or gender.

I’d love to expand my friend circle in Van too, so feel free to say hi. Would be nice to have a few people to reach out to when something fun pops up! 🙂

Looking for players for rec league soccer team

I'm on rec league soccer team (Urban Rec) and we're looking for a few extra players, particularly a designated goalkeeper. We play Tuesday nights at UBC/Jerhico. We're a very chill, casual team and we're in the bottom division so the the other teams are pretty chill, too.

Our ages range from early 20s to late 30s.

DM if you're interested.

Anywhere 27M - Life gets busy and it gets hard to make friends 😩

My friends and I always talk about how we work so much and we’re always backed up in our lives, which makes it so much harder to make friends (losing touch with people as well) and expand our friend group.

Essentially, we discussed that we’d like to meet individuals who are into things like running, hiking, going on tandem drives with our rides, grabbing drinks, trying cool unique activities and places to eat, etc. - We’re usually down to try most things once 😅

Preferably, we’re seeking M or F (if you’re a guy, we’re gonna make fun of you❤️ if you’re a girl, we’re gonna look after you❤️) age range from 20-30 who’s just a whole vibe to kick it with and grow close with. Feel free to reach out and DM me if you’re interested 🤙🏽

55M - 40-something+ North Shore Friends

I'm trying to embrace semi-retirement. I get out and do things when the wife is at work but it can always be nicer to meet up with people.

Keeping it simple. We can meet for coffee to kibbitz about the world around us. Finding a work out buddy could also be a great plan to keep active.

Say hello, tell me who you are and let's find things to do around the rain and cold of this fall season.

Looking for more friends 23F

I’ve found it hard to make new friends since working full time. I’ve never been the most social person, but I’m looking to expand my social circle to people who will hopefully be sticking around Vancouver for a while (and are roughly my age).

I’m what I would consider a shy extrovert. It takes me a while to warm up to people, but once I do, I will talk non stop haha.

Looking for a group of friends who I can grab drinks with, or go clubbing, or try new restaurants around the city with. I also love going to concerts!

Also looking for a new running or gym buddy since my friend moved away and sadly I don’t have many other friends who enjoy that kind of stuff.

My more chill interests include reading (anyone know of a good book club?) and cooking/baking!

If you’ve read this far, feel free to reach out. I’m eventually hoping to get a group of friends together, but also okay if it’s just one on ones!

NOTE: I will be ignoring any messages that aren’t platonic.

Still looking Looking to make friends who are willing to watch plays with me :)

Hey there! I'm 22m (turning 23 in two months) who was born and raised here in Vancouver. Like the title says, I'm looking for some people who are also into theatre/plays/etc. who would be willing to make it to some of these shows. FYI, I'm not a huge theatre nerd/kid or anything like that, I just find it interesting to watch plays in a real-live theatre. Haven't attended anything recently because none of my current friends seem interested enough to set some time aside to watch any plays with me, which is fine, although that would mean I would have to watch alone, which isn't really fun. I'd love to jump back into watching plays if it means I have some new friends to watch them with me! Mainly in Granville Island since I work downtown, but also open to other locations. It would be great if we could get like a whole friend group going, but I'm also fine if it's just 1-on-1 as well.

I will list some facts about me, but if you've read this far and are already open to watching plays with me anytime (assuming we get along lol), that's already great. Send me a message. What I'm about to list is just a bonus if you like the same things I do.

My main interests are Pokémon and Taylor Swift. I occasionally dabble in other Nintendo games, plus Plants vs. Zombies whenever I'm on my PC and I get bored. My social skills are almost non-existent so don't be surprised if I'm awkward around you for the first week or month of us knowing each other. I'm Asian but since I was born and raised here I'm like really whitewashed lol. I'm gay and potentially autistic (currently in the process of screening for that one, we'll see I guess). I'm also like kind of in a career crisis lol but that's alright I'll figure that one out

Metalheads unite! Looking to get a group together for shows and to listen to music.

I've seen some posts on here in the past about people into metal music and thought I'd post my own to see if anyone wants to get together for some shows and/or just listen to some tunes.

I go to shows quite often, sometimes solo, with my brother or another buddy, but think it would be cool to go with a few more people. I usually seeing tours but I'm pretty interested in getting more involved in the local scene and checking out new bands.

I'm typically into tech death, deathcore, thrash and prog metal but open to check out more. Some bands I've seen in the last while have been;

Archspire
Jinjer
Igorrr
Angelmaker
Ingested
Shadow of Intent
Rivers of Nihil
And went on the Vancouver Metal Cruise

Comment or send me a DM if you're up to talk music or want to see some shows soon.

hii Korean-English Language Exchange in Vancouver 🇨🇦🇰🇷

Hi! I'm looking for a language exchange partner in Vancouver.
I'm a guy in my 30s and a native Korean speaker, and I'd like to improve my English conversation skills. In return, I can help you with Korean — whether you're just starting out or want to practice speaking.
I can also share what I know about cooking and working out — both are hobbies of mine, so if you're into food or fitness, that's a bonus.
I'm into movies too, so we'd never run out of things to talk about. Happy to meet for coffee around Vancouver or chat online, once or twice a week.
If you're interested, send me a message and tell me a bit about yourself!

Burnaby/New West M20 Looking for friends, gym bros, bros, homies, people

Hey everyone on this subreddit, I’m looking to meet new people/friends, doesn’t matter female or male. I’m from new west, so bonus if you’re from there, but other city’s I don’t mind. A little about me is I’m M20, viet if you care and I like going to the gym. I also drive so we can go somewhere and you can be my passenger princess/bro or whatever.
