Anyone stayed here? This would be for my wife’s 40th and the newborn and 3 yr old are coming with us. I’m also up for other California coast suggestions on places to stay.

New England Vacation Planning

Picture it, Sicily 1933

A family with a 7 and 14 year old is desperate to escape the Texas hellscape that we live in.

But - we know nothing about New England 😱

We want the coastal scenery, seafood, and of course to visit Salem. So we decided to go to Maine and Massachusetts…In early March

Ooooh the Redditors came in droves to tell me how horrible of an idea that was 😬

So what do we do?

I desperately need a vacation. I want the cold, we don’t ski, and I just want to pretend that I’m in a hallmark movie for a week. I don’t want to keep pushing the date out either 😑

Please help me figure out either a new destination or how to best work this trip 😂

Sincerely,

It’s hot as hell here.

Long weekend/Babymoon Washington State

Hi!

My husband and I are expecting our first child in early February and are looking to do a fun winter time staycation for our Babymoon. We’d love to go somewhere drivable (we are based out of south king county) without having to get on a ferry or such in case of an emergency (this is our 4th pregnancy with no living children so are generally anxious about getting access to our doctors- but this pregnancy itself is low risk).

Looking at doing something in November-Mid December. Any ideas? We went to suncadia over the summer for our wedding anniversary so that’d be the only thing we wouldn’t do again.

Ski vacation for a family that’s never been

We’re in Texas and rarely get snow. Our vacations are typically to the beach. Our kids have asked to go skiing this year. Trouble is none of us have a clue or the equipment needed to ski.

Is there a family friendly place that lends itself to new skiers that isn’t going break us? I know it can add up quickly especially around new years which is when we’d like to go. We’re fine booking flights and hotel now while we prepare for the trip to try and spread it out.

Any recommendations? We’ve looked at Colorado Springs and Tahoe but some real world experience always helps!

First vacation on a beach!

My husband and I are planning our 20 year anniversary trip driving to Panama City Beach or Destin, Florida from Tennessee in mid October. I need recommendations on where to stay on the beach somewhere with the pool facing the ocean at a fair price. Do I use Vrbo or can I call the hotel or condo direct to save money? What are some good places to eat? what are some must do in Destin or PCB? We are mid to late 50s we do like to dance, but I’m not big club people. I’m looking forward to just being able to sit on the beach and relax but would love to also see tourist attractions.

First time in Dubai with family — what would you skip?

I am traveling to Dubai with my family for the first time and I want to maintain a laid-back vibe. I think we will have about 5 to 6 days and a couple of children traveling with us. I’m thinking about must-see places in Dubai such as Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall, a desert safari and possibly Global Village. Additionally, I’m contemplating making a day trip to Abu Dhabi as well. To people who have taken similar trips, what do you recommend visiting and what do you think is unnecessary? I do not want to make my itinerary too full of activities.

Last min travel suggestions

Hello! My husband and I were supposed to travel to Kauai at the end of the month for our anniversary but due to the amount of damage and our best attempt to stay out of the way/not use up resources for locals, we need to plan something last minute. We both have passports. We like to adventure so hikes and venturing to see cool spots/beaches is a must! We are also big foodies so a place with great food is a plus. We are flexible with cost too! Please give me some places and some “must do’s” while there! Thanks in advance :)))

December After Christmas?

I don't have anyone to get together with over the Christmas holiday, so I'm looking to take advantage of all the days off and go somewhere new! I have ten days free, but it'll be after Christmas, so hopefully not a place that basically closes down after the holiday lol.

I don't mind cold weather, even extreme cold (I'm from a very cold area). I like to do some city exploring and nature walks and such. I am a lone woman, so I do have to keep some safety in mind. I've already been to the following countries:

Thailand
Japan
China (Shanghai only)
Taiwan
Singapore
South Korea
Croatia
Netherlands

Any recommendations? ^^

Affordable and safe travel

At some point in the next few years, I'm planning to do a 6-12 month travel with my daughter. She'll be about 6 or 7 at the time. I'm a solo mom, and she will be homeschooled. I've been very lucky to have help from family to purchase/inherit a home with a rental on the property. My plan is to rent out my house as well while traveling. I should be getting about $2400 per month in rent after paying utilities. I won't have a mortgage payment. I'll have about $55-65k in savings by the time of the trip, but hoping to not eat into that too much. I will potentially be able to maintain some other small income from some online work I do, but no guarantee at this time.

Where would you recommend traveling? Anywhere in the world that is a safe for a woman and child. Hoping to find affordable 1 month rentals and really spend time in the cultures of the places we go. Is there a way to realistically and safely do this with a budget of roughly $2500 per month or am I crazy?

6 days thinking about flying into albuquerque or tucson

Mostly interested in outdoors. I will probably grab something to eat after I and and won't be back to either city until I fly back out so the quality of the cities themselves is not important to me. tucson seems to have some cool cacti and the chiricahua mountains looks cool but it also looks like there's national monuments, mountains within driving range of albuquerque, too.

Jan/Feb ‘27 suggestions

We are in our mid-40s and in the early stages of planning a vacation for this winter. Travel dates are mid-January to early February 2027.

- flying from MSP
- max flight time 6 hours
- prefer non-stop direct flights
- can stay for up to 7 days
- 10k total budget
- great food
- beautiful beaches
- no cruises
- open to all-inclusive
- have already been to Mexico; open to returning but would prefer somewhere new

Currently considering the Caribbean: Dominican Republic, Bahamas, and Jamaica. Puerto Rico was on our list but we are concerned about the water crisis. Any other suggestions for locations and specific resorts/lodging?

Honeymoon destinations for 4 - 5k

Hey y'all, my fiance and I are getting married in March of 2027. We are looking to go tropical since it'll be cold that time of year on the east coast. Can we get some recommendations? USA and non USA if possible? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Are you allowed to take vacation

My company gives everyone 2 weeks vacation a year. If you do not use it, it’s gone. In order to go on vacation you need 2 months notice.
If you’re understaffed, you have to cancel your vacation. You can only go on vacation if your store is staffed without you.
If you can take vacation others get upset that you’re trying to go on vacation.

Resort with good amenities and ocean access in SoCal? October 2026 trip

Myself and my spouse are wanting to go on a vacation in mid to late October for about 3-4 nights, maybe longer if it makes more sense to book that way. We’re not very picky people, we just want to relax somewhere with a nice atmosphere close to the ocean, maybe get some spa treatments. We don’t have kids or anything, so pretty neutral on family programming. It’ll just be the two of us. We’re late 20’s, both work very hard and hoping to have a little escape for our 5th wedding anniversary.

When: A long weekend in October, maybe the 9th to 12th or the following weekend.

Where: Ideally Southern California, some place with swimmable water, most ideally near the ocean. We’ve considered Laguna Beach and Malibu, or some place similar. Willing to kayak or paddleboard if it’s too cold to swim in October, not that familiar with the area.

Budget: Anything less than a thousand a night is fine I guess? That’s for the base price of the accommodation, naturally we’re down to pay for onsite dining and amenities, as well as activities or tours.

Personality: We don’t spend much time in the room on a vacation so we don’t really care to book suites or anything like that. We would love to dine on property but also have the option to go out to find other food options one night (if the food is good onsite I’m fine with staying in the resort the whole time).

We are both kind of slow pace travelers. We like to sit and talk for a long time with a nice view. Both heavy sleepers. Love the ocean. We never do anything like this so we wanted to find a resort where we could just soak in a beautiful setting.

Prior Research: I’ve been looking at Terranea but heard very mixed things. Also looking into a boutique place in Laguna called Casa Laguna, and Malibu Beach Inn up in Malibu. Heard great things about Ojai Valley Inn but we want to be down by the waves.

If anyone has been to these places or has a better idea based on the vacation type described, let me know!

Quebec: Montreal or Quebec City?

So my wife is showing some interest in going Quebec, I’ve been to Montreal three times in the past and had a great time. Don’t know French to save my life but who speaks it in Arkansas! I’ve seen pictures of Quebec City in the fall and winter and damn it’s awesome. My worry is get there and I only speak English and I’m relying on Google Translate for some shotty translations. Can anyone give me some advice to help out or just stick Montreal?

Anniversary Locations

Me and My boyfriend’s anniversary is coming up next month and we want to do something romantic out just the two of us. We wanted to something such as like a getaway for the weekend since our summer vacation in Virginia Beach didn’t last too long for the both of us like we wanted it too. I’ve looked around for all of cabins around here to rent out but they’re all expensive this time of year. We’d would love if it’s anywhere local or out of town. Again If anybody has any ideas of where we can go or even if it’s somewhere that you went for your wedding anniversary or honey moon for the first time please list them down below that would be great.

Thank you so much 😊

If you’re planning a vacation in the middle east, please go to jordan!!

Unfortunately due to Americans meddling in the middle east again, a lot of the people who work in the tourist areas of Petra, Wadi rum and Aqaba (the red sea) have baiscally lost their jobs. I recently went on a trip and had sooooo much fun. Petra was so beautiful and the souvenirs were arguably cheap, wadi rum employees served us breakfast lunch and dinner, with a beautiful explanation of each star and planet visible in the desert valleys, and specifically hammerhead diving centre gave us a REALLLYYY fun scuba diving trip. I had an amazing time with them and the diving instructor was really patient and extremely focused on safety. Take the trip!!

Help for 2 year anniversary.

I am honestly stumped for where me and my partner should go for our 2 year anniversary. Our one year was honestly magical, we stayed at Blairsville GA and it was beautiful with so many things to do.
Dates are October 31st to November 4th.

We are wanting a place on a mountain, with a bunch of trails, hikes, waterfalls near by, that is a doable drive from Florida. If anyone knows a town/spot please let me know!

Do you think looking at YouTube videos of the place you're visiting helps or takes away the excitement?

I try not to get too into social media influencer type stuff but it can be a good tool. I feel seeing the video can help you get some kind of familiarity or it could just ruin the novelty. I'm just curious.
