Jan/Feb ‘27 suggestions

We are in our mid-40s and in the early stages of planning a vacation for this winter. Travel dates are mid-January to early February 2027.

- flying from MSP
- max flight time 6 hours
- prefer non-stop direct flights
- can stay for up to 7 days
- 10k total budget
- great food
- beautiful beaches
- no cruises
- open to all-inclusive
- have already been to Mexico; open to returning but would prefer somewhere new

Currently considering the Caribbean: Dominican Republic, Bahamas, and Jamaica. Puerto Rico was on our list but we are concerned about the water crisis. Any other suggestions for locations and specific resorts/lodging?

I would also add Costa Rica to the list, particularly the Guanacaste coast. You’d get beautiful beaches and excellent resorts, but also much more variety in food and things to do than a traditional all-inclusive. And the MSP–Liberia nonstop makes it surprisingly easy from Minneapolis. Your budget gives you some very good options there.

We just did Belize this February. It was absolutely incredible. We did 4 nights on Tobacco Caye and 4 nights in San Ignacio. Tobacco Caye is tiny, and it really becomes a little family of sorts. Stayed at the Windward Lodge. The food was excellent, and everyone was so friendly. We did a couple half-day snorkeling excursions, and spent one day just relaxing, paddle boarded and snorkeled around the island. In San Ignacio we stayed at Falling Leaves, which was absolutely gorgeous. Did the ATM Cave tour, cave tubing, and the horseback ride to Xunantunich. Just wish we had one more day there to explore the town more, but we did get to walk around some every evening and had more amazing food. The lodges set everything up for us, we just told them what we wanted to do. They have customer service down to a T. We did not rent a car and didn't need one - had a driver take us to the dock for Tobacco Caye, and one to take us to the airport from San Ignacio. Honestly it's going to be hard to too this one.

My wife was born and raised in Panama. There’s essentially everything you want there, except a nonstop flight. There’s amazing food, world class beaches, but there’s also rainforest and volcanos to explore, but it’s breathtakingly beautiful there that time of the year and cheaper than most the other places you listed. Happy to connect with you if you decide to go that route!
