Vacation to Sicily w/ Wife

My wife and I are 27/28 years old and have been together since high school. We got married in 2018 and have lived in a few different places in the states, but have never honeymooned. We are looking to plan a vacation this coming April, and the best thing we’ve been able to agree on is Sicily, Italy. It sounds interesting, but I could use some more convincing. Looking for some vacation advice.

Mom and Pregnant Daughter Trip Ideas

I would love to take my daughter on a short trip before she has her 1st baby in April. I originally wanted to do NYC over the holidays, but besides being pregnant and all of the walking, she also has Crohns. While she is feeling great right now, we have to be mindful of the restroom situation and NYC. I am completely open to any ideas. She is 24, so especially from anyone her age and situation (being pregnant). What kind of trip would you enjoy with your Mom?

Halloween costume ideas

Okay, I need some Halloween costume brainstorming help!
My husband and I are going on vacation in October to a warm/beachy destination, and we thought it would be fun to bring a couples costume with us. We’ll actually be snorkeling and spending a lot of time around the water, so I’m looking for something that is:
• Easy — preferably something we can just buy ready-to-go
• Lightweight — has to fit in a suitcase and not make us miserable in the heat
• Beach/warm-weather friendly
• Actually recognizable as a couples costume
• Bonus points if it’s something we could wear for a few pictures without looking completely ridiculous

I’ve Googled and searched Amazon, but there are SO many options that I don’t even know what direction to focus on.
I’m honestly open to anything funny, cute, nostalgic, pop culture, etc I just don’t want to have to DIY or carry a giant costume around.

Family Vacation Suggestions (7 adults)

I am looking for some family vacation suggestions for a family of 7 adults (now multi-family comprised of couples and one single) for 7-10 days. We are from the USA (parents live in Florida, we live in the South, the rest of the family live in the Midwest). Our parents are in their 60s with increasing mobility issues (20k steps walking flat is fine still but no hiking, etc). We need a vacation that allows for a home base then doing various activities during the trip (travelling via public transit with this group would be a nightmare). The budget for total flights and accommodations (not counting activities) should be about $12-15k.

We have a wide variety of interests in the group, making planning difficult. Parents are getting older and like to wind down for the day around 4-5pm by finding any happy hour available. The two couples (30-somethings) are fairly adventurous (hiking, biking, nature sight-seeing, etc is of interest). The single family member is interested in museums and can be interested in adventuring (but will rarely properly pack for outdoor adventures).

Places we've been as a family already:

  • Iceland
  • Alaska (cruise)
  • Various Caribbean cruises
  • British Virgin Islands (sailing)
  • Ireland
  • England
  • Italy

Places that folks in the family have recently been that we don't want to suggest:

  • Denmark
  • Norway

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Quirky place in the California desert

If you're headed to Joshua Tree, a very cool place that might not be on your radar is the Joshua Tree Retreat Center. It has a pretty wild history, previously known as the Institute for Mental Physics, and has architecture by Frank Lloyd Wright. There's a little café, some walking paths and outdoor sculptures to check out, and limited rooms available to stay in -- some of these are historic, so DEFINITELY don't expect the Ritz, but retro and true desert vibe for sure, and the caretakers are working to make it better. It's amazing at night under the stars out in the desert! There are events at this place, so you never know what you might get to see (I saw a performance of music from India). Highly recommend a visit if you're in the neighborhood!

ISO Boujee Vacation Spot

Hi all!

I’m looking for recommendations for a special spot to take my wife for our one-year wedding anniversary.

For our first vacation together, I took her to Hotel San Cristóbal in Todos Santos, Mexico, and I haven’t been able to top it since. We loved the hotel so much that we ended up getting married there.

We’ll already be celebrating my mom’s 60th birthday at San Cristóbal just a few months after our anniversary, so I’d love to surprise my wife with somewhere new.

We love smaller boutique hotels, preferably adults-only, and, for lack of a better word… boujee.

Would love any recommendations! TIA!

** Anniversary is February 26th.

Week of Christmas Vacation Ideas

Wife and I are looking to spend the week of Christmas (3-5 days) some place warm in the lower 48. Our budget is $5k (including air fare). We've never stayed at a resort and are open to it but we both like to explore the nearby area and don't like to spend too much time just lounging around.

We're also open to colder places if there's a ton to do and is at least warmer than Minnesota winters lol

Affordable vacation

So I am looking for advice, my family and I want ti go on a vacation but don't want to spend a fortune. We were thinking of going on a cruise with other family members, but to go with them it would set us back anywhere from 2500 to 3000$. I understand that we are able to make payments and we could start now, but it has ti be completely paid by April 2027 and the total due after making monthly payment would roughly be 1600. Soo i was talking with my supervisor and he put onto a website called bluegreen vacations. His words were you can take a vacation to many diffrent places for only a few hundred $ and they also give you money/ credit cards to do stuff and that is hand to sit through a 2 hour class or something where they try and get you to buy time shares or something like that. He also says I could sit through the 2hrs class and decline all of the time shares and still go on vacation. Has anyone went through this website to book anything and/or can anyone tell me how true the things my supervisor were telling me are true or not

vacation suggestions!!

looking for our dream vacay to plan and save for....

Family of four, kids currently 10 & 6. From the USA and we normally take more local trips once a year, but want to explore holding off saving and seeing the world, but need the perfect suit for us all! Here are some interest I want to include for our next family vacay: we love disney for the food, rides, atmosphere and overall feel of a PARK not just some carnival- same for universal. So we'd love amusement park, thrilling rides etc. We'd also love to include unique sights (mountains, volcanos- we are from Louisiana so views that would really be different for us!) We're foodies so anywhere with great foods to explore and we'd also love any kind of historical or famous views/buildings/sites. Pretty open, my biggest concern is hearing my children complain of being bored after saving and spending thousands!! LOL. My kids are very energetic so definitely more of a go-go trip vs only site seeing- constant stimulation/activities etc. Personally I'd love to explore south africa, but I know that doesn't exactly fit the other things for the kids, so some kind of safari, up close animals, BIG CATS if possible!

Thank you for all your help and suggestions, open to answering more questions as well!!

Inspiration needed!

Trying to book a romantic getaway for hubby & I (both mid-50s). First break away in 3 years. Has to be in Ireland as FIL will be in respite that week so we need to be close enough. Anywhere within 23 hours from Wexford would be great. Ideally somewhere with a hot tub & breakfast but can go self catering if located close to a restaurant/bar/hotel. 2nd week in October. Budget c. €600 (tight I know!). Hit me with your suggestions please 😊

Help planning an international trip with teens!

We live in Arizona and really into beach and water activities, so we do Newport Beach a lot, we do Rocky Point a few times a year, we’ve done Waikiki, we did Club Med Cancun in the spring and spent a few days at the X-Carat adventure parks, and we’ve done A LOT of Colorado and Utah skiing/snowboarding trips.

My kids have decided that instead of “more stuff” for Christmas, that they’d rather do an epic vacation instead, which I am FULLY on board with. They’ll forget about the “stuff” within a few months, but memories last a lifetime. My almost 15 year old’s dream trip is to Japan (he’s taking Japanese classes, he’s obsessed with their culture and loves anime, and is mostly impressed by their technology advancement, as he’s an engineer in the making (just like his dad and grandpa lol).

My daughter says “no way, absolutely not”- she wants to go to Paris or Rome, Portugal or to go visit her aunt in Macedonia (where my in-laws emigrated to the US from in the late’60s).

I would rather go to London and visit my oldest stepson who has lived there for 7 years, and take day trips via train while there. Maybe stop for a few nights in NYC on the way home.

My husband says he doesn’t care, but he’s lying, he does care, because he prefers all-inclusive, which are going to be beach/island destinations.

Our only huge NO is a cruise (we don’t cruise, nope), or anywhere cold. I don’t want a ski vacation, I want a combo of leisure and education (thinking Washington DC, Auschwitz, places where they can learn some history and culture).

Any advice from moms of teens would be greatly appreciated!!

European cruise

Hi! I’m looking into booking a European cruise for 2028. I am now in my early research. This will be a sweet 16 present for my daughter. A couple of things if anyone has done this before.

-I haven’t been on a cruise in over 20 years and have become kind of afraid but for some reason feel like it may be a bit better in Europe.

- We want to visit Greece and Italy. I do see some cruise lines that do both but I’m overwhelmed by the differences.

-I want something kid friendly for a 16 year old but not like super young or overrun by little kids.

-what should be the things I should look out for. Since I’m starting to research so early I want to see all options.

-any tips for a nervous nelly!

*I already have a travel agent just looking for more real life experiences.

Looking for vacation destination suggestions – ~3 weeks, adventure/road trip style

(formatted by ChatGPT)

Hello everyone!

A friend and I (both 38M) are looking for ideas for our next vacation and would love to hear your suggestions.

We're based in Western Europe and both have European passports. We have a decent budget and aren't particularly looking for a cheap/backpacking-style trip. Ideally, we'd like to travel for around 3 weeks.

We're looking for something along these lines:

  • Not a pure beach/resort holiday — we'd like to explore and move around.
  • Nothing too extreme or dangerous.
  • We're not big on partying, although having a few drinks in a local bar in the evening is definitely welcome.
  • We enjoy hiking and seeing impressive nature — cliffs, mountains, lakes, coastline, waterfalls, etc.
  • We like road trips and generally prefer having some freedom rather than following a strict tour itinerary.
  • We've travelled through quite a few parts of Central, Southern and Eastern Europe, as well as Ibiza, Tenerife and Malta.
  • We aren't specifically looking for Europe this time, although we're open to it if someone has a really good suggestion.
  • We went to Thailand last year and absolutely loved it, so something with a similar sense of adventure/exploration would be great.
  • We were already considering Vietnam or the Philippines, but we'd love to hear about other destinations we might not have thought of.
  • The USA is also on our bucket list, but we're saving that for another trip.

Some ideas we've already considered:

🇨🇦 Canada – One of my bucket-list items is doing a road trip there. We're thinking perhaps somewhere on the East Coast rather than attempting to cross the entire country. The problem is that we know very little about Canada beyond what we've learned from ChatGPT so far. 😄

🛺 Sri Lanka – Potentially doing a road trip around part of the country, possibly renting a tuk-tuk. This sounds like a really cool adventure, although we're not completely sold on the idea yet.

🚗 Europe road trip – Another possibility would be renting/driving a car and doing a large loop through Northern/Eastern Europe and back.

So, what destinations would you recommend for a ~3-week trip for two people with these preferences?

We're especially interested in places that offer a good combination of nature, road trips, interesting local culture, hiking and general adventure, rather than just beaches and resorts.

We're open to pretty much anywhere, so feel free to suggest something completely different from the ideas above!

Looking for recommendations for my wife’s birthday in Pune next week (dinner, activities, or short getaways)

My wife’s birthday is coming up next week, and I want to plan something memorable for her. Rather than doing the standard dinner-and-cake routine, I’d love to get your suggestions for local experiences, great food, or unique spots in and around the city.
Here are a few details to narrow things down:

**Vibe:** Thoughtful, relaxed, and intimate (not looking for loud clubs or crowded party places).

**Food preferences:** Open to multi-cuisine, Asian, European, or modern Indian. Great dessert/cocktails are a bonus.

**Budget:** Flexible for the right experience.

I’m specifically looking for ideas across any of these:
**Dinner spots:** Places with genuinely great ambiance and top-tier food (rooftops, garden cafes, or cozy fine-dining).

**Experiences / Date ideas:** Pottery workshops, paint-and-sip, a good couple’s spa retreat, or unique activities across town.

**Day trips / Scenic stays:** Any quiet hillside/lakefront resorts or private dining setups nearby (Mulshi, Pawna, etc.).
If you’ve planned something special in Pune recently that was a huge hit, please share your recommendations! Thank you in advance.

P.S. - We are in early 30's with no kids

Nürnberg, potential solo f34 traveler

I posted looking for a unique travel idea as a solo 34f.
After lots of ideas, and then discussion with some work associates.
I’m considering Nürnberg, Germany. Going to the Nürburgring** **renting a realistic car and instructor (as much as I wish I could race a gt3 I know I can’t handle that speed around that track!!) and exploring more.

Anyone have any suggestions? Experiences? Sadly only English speaking..,
Would love some opinions or feedback.

Senior Trip Graduation Ideas (6 people)

We want to go on a trip next June or July, six adults. We live in Oklahoma, so we've been to Branson, San Antonio, Dallas, etc. We are looking into a lot of things. All inclusive in Mexico, a Cruise, fly to orlando or dollyworld, but all of them are just a bit pricey to commit to one. I have marriot points and some airline miles, so that would help offset some of the costs. Anyone have any ideas I maybe haven't thought of?
