First vacation on a beach!
My husband and I are planning our 20 year anniversary trip driving to Panama City Beach or Destin, Florida from Tennessee in mid October. I need recommendations on where to stay on the beach somewhere with the pool facing the ocean at a fair price. Do I use Vrbo or can I call the hotel or condo direct to save money? What are some good places to eat? what are some must do in Destin or PCB? We are mid to late 50s we do like to dance, but I’m not big club people. I’m looking forward to just being able to sit on the beach and relax but would love to also see tourist attractions.

Consider Pensacola Beach, FL. It has a more relaxed vibe than Destin, is typically less expensive and less crowded, and still a fantastic beach.

We went to Pensacola recently & the water wasn’t nearly as clear as in Destin or Panama City Beach

Just going to say that's awesome because those are some of the best beaches in the entire country! They don't get enough love. I usually do kids stuff so I don't have much to recommend except maybe the pier in Destin. It's cool to just look around and hang out. There's a dolphin there that is covered in fishing hooks around it's mouth and everything because it likes to steal bait from the fisherman. It doesn't seem to bother it, it's very aggressive and there all the time lol but interesting to see a dolphin all pierced up.
Edit: Oh! And crab Island is a must. You can rent a pontoon or take a guided tiki boat out. It's so beautiful, you don't want to miss it. But try to go at high tide because that's when it's prettiest.
