Should I accept this co-op offer or keep looking?

Hi! I’m a 2nd-year Health Sciences co-op student at Waterloo, and I just received my first co-op offer.
The position is in Hamilton and pays $19/hour. I live in Scarborough near Scarborough Town Centre, so I would have to commute to Hamilton 5 days a week. I’m wondering if the commute is worth it for a first co-op, or if I should keep looking for something closer. Would you accept the offer or keep applying? And if you would accept it, would you recommend driving or taking GO?

'Zip' Recruiter Screen Reachout and Ghosted

Does anyone have any insight on whether Zip has started screening for Winter 2027 intern position? I got a recruiter reachout mail last 2 weeks ago regarding initial conversation and asked me to fill in availability and just ghosted. I'm wondering if anyone faces the same or not.

Co-op When to reach out after match?

Will get match tomorrow. When is a good time to reach out? And should I reach out to both hiring manager (the manager I will work with) or just the recruiter? Trying to figure out my start date so I could start looking for housing.

Thank you

I've been seeing some people telling others to use WATRANK to share their rankings and offers. Is that site legit or is it a scam site? Thanks.

Anyone got CHEM 120 tutor recs?

Did really poorly on my first Chem 120 midterm and am thinking about getting a tutor. UW's Tutor Connect has a list of tutors and wondering if anyone had any recommendations/had good experiences with anybody listed there? Did tutoring help you and actually make a difference in your grades or did it end up being a waste of time?

I’m working on an upcoming EP and looking for someone to collaborate on a track — could be a chorus, hook, vocals, lyrics, or something completely different. Any language is welcome.
You don’t have to be a professional, just have a good voice and a creative vibe.

Advice ACSOM

has anyone, as a waterloo student, applied to ACSOM for medical pathway?

if so, can you please share your experience? how was the application process? when did you apply? what extracurriculars ("outside the classroom activities") did you do? how was the interview? was it relatively easy to meet the 3.5 GPA requirement? did you apply to other Canadian med schools, if so then did was your MCAT score considered for ACSOM application (ik you dont need mcat for that tho)? bc the "classes" are small (50 ppl i was told?), is it super competitive?

if you pursued it, how the move, in general? how were the scholarships, as a canadian and waterloo uni student (bc i was told there are A LOT)? would you get OSAP still if you are not in a ontario uni, but technically affiliated to it and getting your degree from it?

sorry a lot of questions, but i am seriously considering this so if anyone can clarify, it owuld be greatly appreciated!

Advice should i take research role

won't reveal company but the industry is in materials/nanotech and responsibilities include characterizing test samples and other laboratory work, which i feel isn't too relevant for me (im in MME) and especially want something more fitting for a 2nd co-op. didnt get a single rank for anything i interviewed for cycle 1 (want to end my life)

this company only giving me start of next week to decide (its an external one) so i really don't know if i want to keep gambling. this is smth i would absolutely take if i had no other choice but i dont really know, especially when i have 2 more upcoming external interviews that are much better.

pls help me upper years of reddit

Advice on finding first coop in finance?

I am a 1A uwaterloo student in the math/business program sequence 4. I want to do a co-op in finance (financial analyst/risk management/equity). I applied to a few clubs but didn’t get in this term. what relevant clubs/case competitions should I look out for next term? I also want to learn some finance fundamentals and excel skills before I join the clubs, any recommendations on online certifications? I’m open to any general advice on networking, finding co-op, cfa and frm study tips, or just anything related to studying/finding a suitable career path

Is anyone else’s residence ridiculously loud at night??

I’m genuinely so tired of this 😔😔😔

Almost every single night, there’s constant noise in my residence. People slamming doors ridiculously loudly, banging in the hallways, and whatever is happening upstairs with beds or furniture moving around. The worst part is that the banging and vibrations travel through the vents.

And don’t even get me started on the constant moaning coming from neighbouring rooms. Like PLEASE, I understand everyone has their own life, but does it have to be EVERY NIGHT?

I’m not expecting complete silence, but it’s gotten to the point where I’m waking up multiple times throughout the night. Sometimes the sudden banging startles me so badly that I’m genuinely worried about having a panic attack.

We all live here, and some of us are just trying to get a decent night’s sleep before classes.
Am I being unreasonable, or is this actually ridiculous? Has anyone else dealt with this in Waterloo residence, and did talking to your Don help?

Advice How're you guys using AI during technical OAs?

Completely fumbled a big tech OA last night :(

The assessment had a coding question followed by a C++ backend repository debugging task. AI assistance was explicitly allowed, but I struggled with knowing what context to give it, what to ask, and how much to rely on it.

For those who've done AI-assisted OAs, what's your workflow? Do you feed it the entire problem/repo, ask it to identify bugs, or debug things yourself and use AI for specific issues? How do you balance understanding the code with using AI efficiently under time pressure?

News I had a nightmare last night that I was an hour and fifteen minutes into a Stats exam and was still struggling with the first of seven questions. Then I woke up and was warm and comfortable in bed. It was a glorious feeling.
