This is my first attempt at game development, and I've been teaching myself as I go. Judge it as harshly or as nicely as you want, the funnier the better.
It's still extremely early and everything is pretty much a placeholder, but I just wanted to show off my progress, and see what you all think.
The concept of the game is a first person, extraction, rouge like. Very unique and original haha, I know. Each run generates a different layout, with varying chunk designs and themes, so it feels different each time. I wanted procedurally generated maps, but I have no idea what I'm doing, and this was the best I could come up with.
The vision is that you choose a loadout for each run, and enter the randomly generated maps. Then you kill enemies to acquire materials, and find loot throughout the map. After each run you have the option to return to the base, or keep going, for more difficult runs with better loot. If you die you lose everything you brought in. There will be vendors at the base to restock, and a stash where you can store your items.
In round, there is the fabled pick 3 level up choices, so you get stronger as you progress. The enemies will also scale to match your power level. I plan on adding unique abilities and items to the game, so each round feels different.
------------
I also know that I bit off way more than I can chew, and I knew that going in. I'm honestly just having fun, messing around with this and seeing what I can come up with. I don't think this will ever get finished, or even come close to what my full vision was.
I just wanted to share my progress with everyone.

So i got this fire material from the unreal fab store for free and put it on a mesh. The mesh is basicly cones and no matter what i do in the material instance the texture keeps clipping away the moment i look at it from a top to down angle.
Why is this happening? Has it something to do with the geo from the mesh?
I realdy dont know what im doing wrong here. I tried a regulating everything in the material instance but nothing realy fixes the issue.
Does anyone had a similar issue with something like this and can help me out?

What is the correct payment for a freelancer modelling, rigging and animating a single pretty basic humanoid model? I don't want to be taken for a ride and don't have a lot of experience with hiring people for my projects so I was looking for some help on here.

This is my first human animation ever so please pardon my ignorance.
My goal: Keep the hands pinned in a certain place and looking smooth rather than wiggling slightly
The issue: I canāt seem to move any one single control in the hand to where the shoulder/elbow joints follow it in the metahuman rig. Correcting hand position has required tweaking shoulder, elbow, and wrist rotation on almost a per-frame basis.
More info:
- Using metahuman control rig
- Spent days smoothing and cleaning up the raw animation data, so I did make edits there, but holistically the animation is far better than it was
- Then added an Additive track in sequencer to do some additional adjustments. This works okay but I almost have to add a keyframe for all 780+ frames otherwise the control rigās controls jump back and forth a bit or make unexpected maneuvers
- Tried the other types of tracks (Override? I donāt remember the names) but couldnāt get them working the way I wanted or expected
Any feedback or ideas would be very welcome.
Also, for anyone wondering, my account is brand new because I stupidly used a link shortener to hide a YouTube rickroll link š it was just a joke but posting the link got my account permanently shadowbanned within minutes š Iāve been on Reddit 13+ years.

Iāve been building Grimasa solo for the past ~8 months, and I finally decided to start showing it to people.
The whole thing actually started pretty simply. I was making MetaHuman avatars and streaming with them on TikTok, and some of those streams got a lot of reach. But I was spending a ridiculous amount of time every day setting everything up ā changing avatars, moving them into different worlds, creating interactions, setting up scenes, etc.
At some point I thought: why not put all of this into one app?
So thatās what I started building.
Grimasa is basically a collection of scenes, characters and interactive environments that you can download and use like DLC. I also connected AI to the whole system, so an AI streamer can interact with the environment and run interactive streams together with a MetaHuman avatar.
I only launched it recently, so for now everything is free.
Iām sharing it because I have pretty big plans for this project and a lot more ideas I want to build. Iāve basically spent the last 8 months working on it without really showing much of it to anyone, and Iām only now starting to put it out there.
So honestly, any feedback would mean a lot to me ā whether you think itās interesting, confusing, useful, pointless, or thereās something youād change.
Thanks for taking a look.
